halo halo. what a surprise this was. i have never tried nor heard of this dessert in my life. so one day i decided to give it a try. i ordered the halo halo. i was asked if i wanted the special. i had no clue what it was, the woman who served me (owner?) was very pleasant and helpful. she explained that i could have ube with it. i unsure asked what ube was. i was then told it is a purple yam ice cream. i thought what the heck and gave it a go.
the halo halo is shaved ice with many goodies in it such as beans (yes beans), coconut, custard and jello?? well while eating i was unsure about the bean thing but it wasn't unpleasant by any means. just not use to having beans in desert. the ube was a familiar taste i cannot for the life of me think of it yet. i ordered this about 2 weeks ago and am finding myself wanting another. now that it's warmer this will be a great treat. i would highly recommend people give this a shot.

so good.. we finally tried this place today. it was really very tasty. menu is very diverse, with something for every taste. service was courteous, quick, and very friendly. the restaurant was super busy, with lots of people coming to pick up cakes and baked goods as well. clearly people seem to know it is a excellent place to go.

if you want filipino food. this is really the only place you need to go to for filipino cuisine. love the baked goods and the food is great and authentic. love the tosino, egg and rice. and the cheese rolls are awesome for a snack.

first time and good selections. - courteous staffs, good atmosphere.
- breakfast favorites looks good and popular
- good pinoy selections (tinola, sinigang, adobo etc and some specialties like dinuguan)
- tried the pakbet - not so good, eggplant and squash or kamote texture does not feel good (seem chewwy/magayot), greenbeans is green but magayot rather than crunchy - i dont know why. also, there is meager strips of pork - i know we like it with some taba, just like how we have it back home.
- utensils, am not sure if theyre machine washed or manually, some remnants cling to my spoon (didnt use it) and knife (had to scrub it), i dont want to call attention so kept it to myself.
- had fresh lumpia, good taste, i would prefer less garlic thought and more veggies. i just had a concern since this is close to being a salad, careful if you easily get tummy trouble, i dont but i don't feel well during the day after lunch not sure why. its probably just me, but i bought extra to take home/share with my neighbor (i have to check with them tom).
- bought pandesal, good taste - mild sweetness on the bread, not sure when was it baked, can't find the date stamp - the bread texture seem more than a day.
- service could take long particularly during busy time,

overall i would rate 3 out of 5.
i would come back for pinoy specials, i provided a balance review for improvements.

one thing, i cook well and have wide spectrum of taste bud (many cultures).

mabuhay!. i've had cesar's on my wishlist for a long time, since it was at its downtown location. finally i was on the west side and had a change to have lunch there. i've never had filipino food except what i've cooked myself. so i ordered the pork adobo combo with pancit and garlic rice. my brother ordered the chicken adobo combo and we exchanged some of the pork and chicken. both were tender and flavourful, and the chicken was falling off the bone. loved the pancit, but the garlic fried rice was a surprise. i have always wondered how it would work, but it does! the portions were large and i couldn't quite finish the plate. so full. so happy. another one of us had the canadian breakfast. breakfast is served all day.

i will be back to try a few other dishes like caldereta, menudo, and lumpia. and halo halo! i actually wanted one to go, but was way too full. i wouldn't be able to work if i did. would need a nap instead. also, everything from their bakery looks amazingly good. i'll have to try the siopao. have always wanted those. and they have a selection of goodies from the philippines there as well.

i recommend it for anyone that wants to try something different, but they also have burgers, etc, that i hear are very good and with fresh buns from the bakery.

we ordered the pork and the beef breakfast plate, which came with garlic rice, 2 eggs and the meat. the servings were huge, and we could've easily shared an order. we also had some buns to go. the meat is so flavorful and the bread is so fresh.

really good. im asian and i always love asian food, this is the only filipino restaurant in saskatoon and truly nice to have one here! service is great, you don't have to wait too long, and most of all, ms. joy is really awesome, no matter how busy she is, her smile never fades, so professional and does excellent service, she deserve a raise, lol! the only things that need improvement about cesar's is the interior design and hope they'll be open til 8 or 9 pm, instead of 4... ;-)

great saturday breakfast spot!. my friend and i sometimes like something out of the ordinary for breakfast. this place is great - everything from the "canadian breakfast" of eggs, toast, hashbrowns - to filipino selections like fried rice/egg and sliced pork (can't remember the name, but think bacon in a sweet/salty glaze). sometimes i have the filipino dessert called "mix mix" for breakfast: ice, ice cream, purple sweet potatoes, tapioca, etc all mixed together. fun textures and tastes all in the same cup.

fast service and inexpensive too!

good way to start the day. for $5 i have a great breakfast there regularly. the place is bright and clean, the waitress is very friendly, and there is usually a spare paper to read at the counter. its a good way to start the day.
