bad taste!. not from the food, but the service.
we travelled all the way from durham due to purchasing a $20 living social coupon for $10. should have saved the gas and eaten at a better mexican place on 54; it was crowded and busy; that's fine, but you place your order and pay; the guy who took the order seemed impatient despiet our being prepared and concise ( i ordered for 3 of us). i ordered very clearly but he either didn't listern or couldn't e couldn't hear b/c of acoustic/noise and seemed annoyed. then came the personality-less cashier, who snatched the coupon from me and gave not one word of acknowledgment. we sat outside and when i came back to ask whether i needed to come back in for order (grilled fish), he was quite aggressive - very odd. if they're too busy, they should hire more help, but don't act like you're doing the customer a favor! to add insult to injury, the fish was mediocre. salsas were great, but overall this is a pricey place for self-serve - they even want you to scrape your plates on the other side of the restaurant! we son't be going back.

amazing!! the burritos are super delicious and the salsa was on point! super cool staff who where very helpful since we were first timers. great eats!

i had lived in durham/chapel hill area for 8years and heard about carrborito often. when visiting back i finally went and was disappointed. granted i got the tostada instead of the burrito but the carnitas were flavorless. the salsa fresca was fair but we ordered chips and salsa (paid extra) and the salsa was only given for the chips and not nearly enough for the salad. the dish was really bland and to be stingy with the salsa was sad. then i ordered a horchata to find out that they cut it with milk (no dairy for me) which was not mentioned on the advertising when they said a rice drink which is not how it is supposed to be made. even hole in the wall mexican places don't cheap out this way. all in all, it did not live up to the hype and there is a way better place in durham 10 miles up 15-501 (nnt for short). wish we had gone that direction instead. it's cheaper and has a salsa/fixings bar.

fresh, fresh, fresh! bring your appetite, the portions are generous! quality and consistency are high! great service! it's tucked in a tight place so don't stop till you have those fish tacos on tour plate!

however, the headliner at this place should be their salsas. they have six options to choose from, and as they say on their menu, every salsa has its own fan club. their salsas are all made in house and taste incredibly fresh. if you have an inkling to venture out, their salsa frutas may quickly become your number one goto, happened to me. in fact, the last time i visited, i was pouring that rich salsa on my burrito until it was leaking through the tortilla. i’ll never apologize.

highly recommend for traveling vegan options.. we grabbed a guacamole burrito and a grilled vegetable burrito w/ guacamole. they were fabulous! black beans, rice, guacamole, and salsa in a sizable portion. the grilled veg was so very very satisfying. the yellow squash and zucchini were firm and very flavorful. it was perfect. my fiance and i were in from out-of-town and stopped to grab bite to take with us before getting on the road again. we ate them about 5 hours after they were made, yet they were amazing. we were dismayed that the sweet potatoes weren't vegan, but the grilled veg definitely hit it out of the park.
the staff were really nice as well, friendly and conversational.

massive burritos. good fillings. excellent guacamole. i had the chorizo, which didnt sit well with me but not because it wasn't good! nice counter folks.

i dream about this food. carburritos salsa is perfection.

their meat is not overly spiced. . . so that you can taste the godlike salsa.

they don't shove in a bunch of filler (rice) . . . so that you can taste the magical unicorn blood they serve as salsa.

some say they are rude. . . it's because they're letting a mere mortal like you taste of their salsa heaven! stop complaining and take the gift of salsa life!!!

that being said, if you refuse to follow in the path of salsa whatever the price and whatever the spice, then you will be cast out of the kingdom of carburritos.

best burrito in the triangle. i think this, and vimalas, are the best places to eat in chapel hill. carrburritos is a great combination of amazing food, cool atmosphere, and nice location. parking can be a little challenging, but all the more reason to bike, walk, or bus!

i wish they stayed open on sundays, and i hope they use organic ingredients, non-gmo corn, things like that. a lot of places won't because customers won't change their purchasing habits over it, but i hope carrburritos does it anyway since i think it's safe to say their clientele would appreciate it more than most.

they also don't advertise this very well, but they have tofu tuesdays where you can get a great tofu burrito!

extremely disappointed by the extremely rude service of the line staff. furthermore, their food was bland overall and the meat in my burrito wasn't sufficiently drained resulting in a soggy mess. skip this establishment, there are much better places in carrboro and chapel hill.

never again. although the food is decent- fresh mexican food- the service is completely rude and puts a bad taste in your mouth. i do believe the staff forgot they were working in the "service industry", unless of course they assumed it meant bad service. i'm not looking for someone to be overly friendly and nice, but not being completely rude to your customers would be a start.

hipster fail. i second an earlier review when i say that no burrito establishment should ever ask me to choose between beans and rice. thats like five guys asking you to choose between the patty and the bun. ridiculous. classic hipster move- less ingredients for more.

yea the ingredients are fresh, and the chips are divine, but you have to wade through some knee-deep bs to get them. i'll take armadillo grille over this place any day.

as i said before, you will get a great deal here. the mejor was just $7.95. no wonder there were so many families with children here. you could feed your family and keep within a tight budget.
