the best crabs i have had in a long time.. cantler's is off the beaten path and well worth the trip. it is actually about 10 minutes from downtown annapolis. we ordered a dozen steamedmarylandblue crabs, some shrimp, and a bowl of clam chowder. the chowder was ok, the shrimp was good, but the crabs were out of this world. perfectly steamed, season well, and full of meat. with crabs, you never know, but ours were great. the service was good, but you definitely want to get there early, say before 6:00 or you will be waiting. no frills restaurant, maybe a bit pricy, but well worth it.

they're serving fresh crabs here. we stopped in this local crab shack special on our way through town to the beach. it was crowded with locals, which is a good sign. it's a friendly, messy, paper towel tablecloth, place to eat freshmarylandblue crabs with crackers and mallets. our waitress even gave us a demo on how to attack the delicious guys. and the poor lady was happy to answer my mother's crab-cracking technique questions every time she returned to our table to refill our drinks. nicely done, canlter's.

the crab cake platters consist of broiledmarylandjumbo lump cakes, served with fresh vegetables and starch of the day. single and double platters are on offer, with both jumbo lump crab and backfin. sandwiches are also available, served with one side. they also have crab cake sliders, which are fried. the jumbo lump c

go for the crabs. went while on vacation. heard that this was the place to getmarylandblue crabs. my only complaint was the length of time it took to get our drink/food order taken once we were seated (yes it was a friday night, but it was maybe half way busy). the crabs were crazy good, super sweet. i've never had them with apple cider vinegar before, but i am glad i did. it was a nice touch. would certainly go back there again.

simply put: this dinner will live on in infamy. freshmarylandcrabs, served steamed and dry-rubbed with old bay seasoning, accompanied by melted butter, vinegar and spice. you crack them open with mallets and pick out the meat. tables are covered with brown butcher paper. classic. it has been two days and i'm still thinking about it. ignore any bad reviews. this is your quintessentialmarylanddining experience. do it.

great first time blue crab eating experience! tucked away off the beaten path, right on the water, u can pull ur boat right up to the restaurant. plenty of outdoor seating and indoor seating available at or near the bar. obviously, a local fave! the place was packed but we got quick service and a beer while we waited. this is the quintessential "crab shack!" craving the true, untainted flavor ofmarylandblue crab, i ordered the steamer that included 3 straight steamed whole blue crabs, mussels, clams, shrimp, corn on the cob, and cole slaw. it comes with a big slab of paper to cover the table, and a bucket fir the shells. thus heaping mound of seafood comes out hot and smelling delicious! i devoured the first crab, which didn't even need the drawn butter or lemon. it was so light, delicate, sweet, and juicy! a local couldn't resist coming to our table and preventing me from demolishing another one of maryland's tastiest little treats with the malot. she gave me the down and dirty "how to" demo, and begged me not to beat the crab anymore. slightly embarrassed, but mostly grateful, i proceeded eating my crab with much more grace and dignity. so, yea, it was excellent! our server was quick and helpful and the staff was all very friendly. my husband is a land lubber, so he ordered the cheesesteak and said it was really good. i wouldn't know because i was burried up to my neck in my tasty steam pot! apparently, this place has the reputation for having the best blue crab in the area, and that is quite possibly true, but given my choice of whole crab, i'd have to say dungeness is my favorite...sorry all u east coast blue crab lovers, don't take it personally! the blue crab is also excellent!
