too family friendly. went to campione's for the first time after our kid's baseball game. was looking forward to spending some time as a family and talking, but unfortunately there was a television with disney channel movie playing turned up very loud. of course all the kids, including ours, were hipnotized to the tv. now, this might be a good thing for some parents, but it was a dissapointment to us.
our kids had the hot dogs and my wife and i had the "deb's roast beef samich", or something like that. it was a philly steak style sandwich with mozzerella cheese. the wait time was especially long and we became very frustrated as several people who ordered after us got theirfoodbefore us. thefoodwas just ok. there was a sign advertising the "vienna" brand roast beef, which tells me it's from afoodservice distributer and not fresh. it does not taste fresh. none of our three kids actually ate their entire hot dog, which was shocking. i tasted one of them, and it really was not good. it was tough and greasy. on a good note, the fries were actually quite good. probably the best part of the meal.
the girl who waited on us was particularly friendly and helpful. she must have known that we had waited for a long time as she brought us a complementary piece of cheesecake and a canoli. the cheesecake tasted home made. it was fairly light and not too rich. the canoli, even though it is not made fresh, was quite good. all in all, we were there for a good hour and left with a bit of a stomach ache (including my 7 year old).
some other good points was that the resturant and bathrooms were very clean and i really like the chicago theme. even though we did not complain, the staff went the extra mile for us with the free deserts. unfortunately, it's probably not going to be enough for us to come back for a round two.
