cramped basement cafe with limited offerings and middle-of-the-road quality. the only seating option in this tiny establishment while waiting for a friend was a stool at the window with a collapsed seat that felt horrible to sit on. even more awkward as folks getting coffee to-go squeezed through the narrow space, occasionally unavoidably bumping into me. extremely uncomfortable, really wished i could just leave if i weren’t meeting someone. probably a serviceable option if you just want coffee to go, but otherwise not a great choice.

love at first taste..... amazing! i've been making my rounds amongst all the new independent coffee shops in the city and by far, this is the best one for cafe mocha. cafe mocha is my drink of choice so that is the one that i've been ordering around the city. hands, down, cafe postal's cafe mocha, at $4.25 is the best tasting one. the chocolate is subtle, not overly sweet or bitter, but manages to complement the espresso and milk perfectly. the espresso has a very smooth and balanced profile that lingers on your palate.

service is wonderfully warm and laid back. there's a couple of patio chairs on the front facing provencher and there's several bar style seats that face the window looking out to provencher inside the shop. there's not a lot of seating if you plan on staying. there are some food items available on the menu as well like croissants, sandwiches and some pastries. the interior space is very modern white space with beautiful light wood counters and some art work displayed on the walls.

they also serve tea, cappuccino, lattes, americanos etc. the pricing is pretty consistent with all the other independent coffee shops in the city.

they used to be closed on sundays but are now open 7 days a week!

along busy boulevard provencher, and just over the pedestrian bridge that connects winnipeg with st. boniface, is a delightful coffee shop called café postal. it's small, en français of course (about ten percent of winnipeg's 750,000 people speak french), and it serves pilot coffee. the beans are ground and weighed for every espresso drink.

this has got to be one of the best places in the city to grab a coffee! the quality i'd out if this world, and the atmosphere is to die for! every time i come here, i am pleased with the product i receive. i would recommend this cafe to any coffee lover that wants a fun, social, and amazing environment to go and enjoy a cup! i give it a easy 10/10!

first visit a pleasant one. my friend and i enjoyed a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich acaféamericano and a chocolate brownie.
pure and simple food and beverages, prepared perfectly, to eat inside, on a stool at a long wooden counter looking out at ankle-level onto provencher boulevard, or at tiny, somewhat tippy patio table on the boulevard itself.

café postal offers, without a doubt, the best coffee in the winnipeg area. i currently live 1h30 away from st-boniface and i drive every weekend just for their coffee. i tried all their coffees, and even served by different staffs, it was always prepared with great attention to details and served with respect to what a real cup of coffee is. also, the atmosphere is cosy and the staff is always nice and sympathetic (as well as bilingual!).
some people could critic the fact that i drive that much just for a coffee cup, but you'll understand that it truely worth it!

also. best iced coffee ever! had it with almond milk, and on a hot day it was perfect--not too sweet, just right.

friendly cafe with nice coffee. my experiences here really highlight what a cafe should really be about: social interaction, with the aid of a socially acceptable stimulant. here felt welcomed right off the bat, by other patrons and staff.

not sure if they always use pilot roasters (from to) but i was excited to try the coffee. after about three different beverages from these folks i am still loveing what they do. the cafe in itself is more of a place to linger shortly, unless it's a nice day and you can sit on one of two patio tables. otherwise it might be a better place to drink your coffee quickly or take it to go. but i'll be back a few times before my time in winnipeg is up.

going (to) cafe postal. not being a fan of big coffee chains, i wanted to have nothing but wonderful things to say about cafe postal. do i like it? yes and no.

i will start by saying that the service was welcoming and exceptional! the genuinely friendly barista was very knowledgeable, not only about their vast selection of coffees and teas, but of the brewing and consumption processes. she made excellent suggestions based on our needs, and served them up in generous mugs. she clearly wanted to make her patrons happy, and she did.

today being wednesday, we had a croissant, and a large date square, both from tall grass prairie. they were somewhere between good to average. you can get sandwiches there on fridays.

take a few stairs down from provencher, and cafe postal is an open space room, complete with a coffee bar with modern looking equipment, and a counter with several tall stools along the window wall. it provides a great view of the street, and an opportunity to people watch. however, with no support, the stools are uncomfortable to balance on for any length of time. although we were there roughly an hour, we exited earlier than anticipated for that reason only. ;-(

with a steady stream of customers, it may be more conducive to take out, or a quick bite, than serious catching up.

it appeared that there are no washrooms on the main level, but rather up a long and intimidating staircase to the second floor. (those with mobility issues should unfortunately give this place a pass.)

i believe that cafe postal is great to drop by and pick up wonderful daily java as there were plenty of "in and out" patrons. it is what it is: a place for great beverages and maybe something sweet to go with them. we will not be returning for a leisurely chat, although the summer patio might change our minds.

great coffee. when i go out to get coffee i only ever order americano. almost every place i've been to in winnipeg makes a very watered down americano and it's usually better to just order filter coffee. cafe postal makes one amazing americano. the strength is just right and the quality of the coffee is amazing especially as the coffee cools off and you can taste more of the flavour.
