was staying at the hotel before christmas and had the pleasure of dining there 3 times. had misha as our server at each visit and he was great.
the food was good, but the bread they serve before, was bloody amazing!
i also discovered 2 new drinks to love; the godfather and the smoked fig fashion. i was in heaven! the latter is quite the production and pretty cool to experience.
would happily return and introduce friends to this gem.

it's that time of year again, dine out season! for those of you unfamiliar with what this is, it's an event that typically runs for two weeks near the end of january into february (before valentines). participating restaurants from around the metro vancouver area offer a special 3-course menu for set prices of $20, $30, or $40. some may have variations of the 3-course and additional options you can have with your meal, such as wine pairings. popular restaurants get booked super quick, so best to book ahead of time! you can view the offerings on their website, but dishes may change when you arrive at the restaurant.

before dine out, i had never heard of this place. but their menu sounded good so i decided to give it a try. it's actually a pretty nice restaurant with lots of different kinds of seating. they have booths, tables, a bar etc. i liked their booth because it was circular in shape.

one of the things that surprised me was that even though we were doing dine out, they still brought out bread for us. and this wasn't your normal bread in a basket. it was focaccia bread served with olives, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and salt that you could put on yourself. our appetizers we chose were the calamari steak and the octopus. both were very tender and had good flavour. for the main, we had lamb loin with parmesan risotto. the lamb wasn't overcooked and was really flavourful. the risotto wasn't as creamy as i expect risotto to be, but i actually liked it this way. i was really happy with the main. for dessert, we had the lemon tart and the pumpkin bread pudding. the portion of the bread pudding was so large i couldn't finish it. it wasn't anything amazing, but sure tasted like thanksgiving.

overall, service was friendly and attentive, atmosphere was nice, and the food was good. i think if i wanted to go out for a special occasion i'd come back. i don't know what their normal menu is like, but if it is like the food i had today, i'd recommend trying this place out.

i only find myself at “century plaza hotel” when i attend a comedy show, but i always find myself at their restaurant when i do. the name is new, but the feel and the decor of the place is very similar to its last reincarnation. a true hotel lobby bar/lounge feel. a large space, dark with dim lights, coupled with the feeling of regality. i guess the restaurant has to reflect the hotel. after all, you don’t have a country style family restaurant at a 4.5 star establishment in the middle of downtown. you best believe the restaurant has to be 4.5 star to be in a 4.5 star hotel. and so far, setting wise, they were giving us just that. dark glossy wood furnishings, supple booths, deep seated recliners, and opulent chandeliers. only what was necessary was present, but each you could be sure wasâ done up with finesse.
