buttons restaurant

tried to eat here two different times but both times we failed. first time we went for pot roast, the advertised speacial, but were told they decided not to make/serve that after all. next we attempted to use a discount card we were given for lunch, that stated valid until 4pm. we arrived at 3pm and were told the kitchen was closed until dinner. very poor attitudes and service for a restaurant. seems like they are lazy or just don't care. buyer beware!!! too many choices in addison... go elsewhere!

fantastic! chicken & waffles plate is huge! three of us split it along with braised cabbage, collard greens, and mac & cheese. next time if we split 3 ways, then we will add a 2nd waffle to it. so glad we saved room for dessert. the chocolate brownie was melt-in-your-mouth delicious!!! i don't have a sweet tooth so i intended to only have a bite. nope. all 4 of us polished it off! fantastic! highly recommend!!

awesomely awesome!!. simply the best chicken fried steak i've had in years!!! the green beans were to die for..
all i can say is i will definitely be back!!!

ok ok ok.... third and final visit!!!!. inhad really high hopes after my first visit, but the food was pretty bad (smothered chicken /cold and old... and mac and cheese...fantastic!!! and peach cobbler....terrible!!!! just wasn't good.).

ok anyway second visit was equally terrible but this time the service was the worst imaginable!

the waitress had no service skills whatsoever, offered many blended whiskies when i asked spefically for a sine malt( yeah that maybe a little nit picking but darn at $130.00 per meal+ drinks and tip for two people!!!

ok my third and final visit this past saturday... quick seating, the person seating us never made eye contact, dropped two menus on the table and walked away. i had to double check to make sure i was appropriately dressed... darn there's a guy in here with flip flops on, so i guess that wasn't it.

i had the lamb (cold and small). i had this before at ovations... this time made me angry... but i was nice and ate some of...mac and cheese excellent. the music was way too loud and was not very good!!!! oh am i shouting, that's how my entire dinner experience went. i have never been so dissappointed in a dinning experience before. they need gordan ramsey in a f word hurry. never again!

on a scale of. 1 - 5 it gets a generous 3. when i visit a resturant i am looking for a complete dining experience. the service was well short of any experience i've had where i didn't have to order by the number and decide to super size. the atmospher was extremly nice, a near tapestry of nations. they didn't have my first two selections of prime rib and lamb chops very disappointing. but the sides were very well done. (mac & cheese/yams). the price was not worth the "dining experience". and barely worth the meal selection. i'll go back once again, maybe they had a bad night! i'll let you know.

first visit--food was beautifully prepared and actually very good. they ran out of prime rib so i settled for the lamb chops, they were rather small for the price but very well prepared. ther service on the other hand was terrible!!! i waiting nearly 20 minutes before even getting water to the table and at least that long before a waitress even presented herself. once we ordered things improved but only slightly. i will go back, but if the service isn't better it will be my last.

our lunch was amazing! we had decent service, too. i ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was one of the best i've ever had. the shrimp and grits looked great as well. the portions are huge, you get your money's worth for sure! we will definitely be back!!

a favorite for years!. the place just gets better and better!

simply put. keith hicks can make peas taste good. i don't think anything else needs to be said.

delicious bbq. my bf and i ate at buttons on a monday night i wanna say. they were not offering the full menu that night. we were disappointed and had to order off a smaller menu. i got bbq which came with brisket and chicken. he got some kind of shimp and grits thing. it was all awesome. the brisket was the best i've ever had. it was so tender and delicious. the shrimp and grits was like nothing i've ever had. it was served with a fried egg on top. yummy!
they have a stage where i guess bands play but i suppose monday nights are slow for them. we will def. be going back!

brunch and dinner. buttons brunch was southern comfort food that i went back for dinner to try the wonderful potroast. there was a one man band there on sunday that was awesome. i love both locations, but the orginal in ft worth has better service and is sometimes less crowded as the the location addison.

this smothered porkchop was so tender that it pulled apart like a tender pork roast. it was seasoned to perfection. amazing meal i will be going back to buttons jazz soul food asap.

girl's night out. omgoodness!! i'm salivating just writing this review. i tried their chicken fried steak and holy crap! it's addicting! i had it with mac 'n cheese and cheese grits (hey, it's soul food. go big or go home!) to die for. had their diana ross martini, which is also delicious. don't forget dessert...you must try their bread pudding, you won't regret it! i have been back 4 times already. can't get enough!!

charged each person (because we made a reservation)....charged an 'entertainment fee' before the live music had started (we left at 9:00pm) a (bad) chicken fried steak ($14) & one drink ($9 ) total cost $48... including all fees.
talked to 'manager darren' and he told us after their research they feel very comfortable with these charges.
beware of their idea of comfort !!!

overrated. a good date spot because of the intimate/fun atmosphere and live jazz band. the food is a total rip-off and unremarkable. i ordered their famous chicken and waffles, i believe the dish was nearly $20, it might have gone up in price. it was truly disappointing, a stack of waffles that were insignificant and tasted like something i could get at waffle house; two pieces of pathetic fried chicken and a scoop of collard greens. not worth the price at all. i feel like i could've made a stop at waffle house and church's, get better tasting-food and more in quantity for 20 bucks. this place is only good for first dates.

music is good. i have eaten there twice and i have had steak both times. i was pretty good. the drinks were alright. it is always so crowded. the last time we visited there, we were lucky enough to get a table right in front of the band. that was really nice, but you have people dancing dang near on your table and food.

one of the best things about buttons is the live music. the food is okay but i've had better. a few weeks ago i booked a rsvp at buttons just to bring friends to hear natural change, one of the best bands in dfw. the buttons calendar said friday and saturday 8/28-29th. of course they were not on saturday. it would be great if buttons would make sure their calendar was accurate. very sorry we missed natural change. haven't heard them in 2 years and our whole party came from out of town just for this.

unbiased walk in opinion. my husband and i were searching for a place to have a good meal , and also for something a little bit special to cheer us up. we found buttons restaurant online and really kind of stumbled upon it as we are from out of town. from the minute we walked in we were impressed with the atmosphere , decor , and staff. we were served right away, and our food was outstanding. what can i say , we will definitely be back and bring family and friends! thank you for making a very bad day for me better.
