now that's what i call a waffle sandwich!

oozefest is a cheese festival that takes place every year where restaurants who participate comes up with creative melted/gooey cheese dishes. bruxie's b.a.m.f. sandwich was featured there and was so popular that they decided to bring it to their restaurant for a limited time. without a doubt i had to try it and it did not disappoint.

b.a.m.f. stands for buffalo and mac n' cheese fried chicken. every ingredient within its name stands out in flavor plus some. you get the spiciness and awesome cheddar taste from the mac n cheese, delicious seasonings from a very succulent chicken breast and in addition, you get bacon and pepperoncinis. to top it off, i decided to drizzle maple syrup over the sandwich. party in your mouth?...i think so. this sandwich is awesome and i hope they consider making this a permanent menu item in the future if not now.

as a whole, ive never had a bad experience at a bruxie location and the sandwiches i've tried (chicken and pastrami) have been pretty good. big ups to the b.a.m.f. and any other great combinations bruxie may bring in the future.

bruxie is a new take on waffle, but the waffles from bruxie are not sweet or savory. they’re airy and crisp, so you can use it in place of bread for sweet or savory meals.

how did they get the name bruxie?. per the website: in french, brussels is spelled “bruxelles”; so brux comes from the french spelling. belgie is a flemish term for belgium and also used as a slang term for a waffle. we combined the “brux” with the “ie” from a belgie and incorporated the umlaut (two dots over the “e” from german, which is also common language in belgium) and the dot for the “i” (english artistic license) and we came up with bruxie. the color of the three dots represent the colors of the flag of belgium.

on november 14, 2012, bruxie opened their 4 th location in chino hills, ca. it all started back in 1999, when dean simon traveled in belgium for business. he became fascinated with the local farmers markets and street vendors, particularly, homemade waffles prepared to order. in 2006, brux waffles was born after development of a waffle recipe reminiscent of this brussels street food. brux waffles could be found in hotels around america and even on cruise ships. in 2009, chef kelly mullarney was hired and ideas of making waffles an “all-day offering” combining sweet and savory combinations became the mission. the waffles were made thinner and folded for portability. bruxie was born! it began orange and opened three locations in brea, rancho santa margarita and now, chino hills. the location chosen at the shoppes at chino hills is optimal. facing the main street from the freeway, it’s hard to miss. at night, the bruxie signage glows and catches your curiosity right away. the restaurant s
