absolutely fantastic restaurant. the pasta sacchetti was phenomenal. thesaucewas reminiscent of an arrabbiata, but less of a kick than the traditional sauce. we were served bread at our table immediately upon sitting. timing of courses was spot on. i absolutely recommend bruno's for a night out.

average meal. really cool old school decor, unpretentious and service was friendly even if quite slow. had a delicious clam dish in spicy redsaucewith grilled bread. could have eaten two of 'em. our table had two bad meals, one was salmon that was rotten and a greasy unappetizing picatta. the side dish of pasta with redsaucewas unbelievable and i would go back for that and the clams but they took away our unfinished pasta and threw it away even after we asked to have it boxed up.....so i left wondering what all the fuss was over bruno's.

horrible experience!!!!!!!!!!!. i've been dining at bruno's ristorante for years. in the past few months a lot has changed. i started my dinner course off with a cup of wedding soup, it was so salty i could not even enjoy it. there was so much salt i could "literally" chew it. then, i ordered a pasta dish. thesaucewas so watery i could not even enjoy the taste of it. i sent my meal back to be drained and the problem was not solved. thesaucenever used to taste like this. my husband ordered the lasagna. this is not "cleveland's best lasagna." it doesn't deserve to be voted as the "best". it tasted like spoiled milk! we waited almost 45 minutes for our food. it was a horrible experience. i would suggest you choose a different restaurant if you're on a time limit and choose somewhere else for an italian meal. i am highly disappointed. i will not be returning.

service complained as slow ??. i placed a rave review and noticed a rather boring review on service, with nothing mentioned about the food. please realize, everything is made from scratch, which is done in those better restaurants which are bored with those catering to fast food connoisseur's. it is saddening to realize some individuals taste-buds are occluded with immediacy and, as commentors, fail to realize speed is at the bottom of the list for culinary delights. this is not bistrot paul bert or chez casimir - - - but even they fail to focus on speed either.
there is no direct relationship between speed and quality of food. may i suggest, on your next review, you take some fritos or popcorn to munch on to tie you over?

bruno's ristorante. having been to italy, this charming little restaurant is a solid bet on offering delicious and superb (?) traditional cuisine. the calamari is perfect, the light breading offers a well-balanced blend of subtle seasoning which compliments the flavor of this dish. as for a cesar salad, they know how to make an honest-to-god real cesar salad (egg, anchovies, etc.). the linguine with white clamsaucewas a hit, so often hard to blend the flavors with what /can be staggering if the chef fails to comprehend the balance needing to be achieved in this dish. now, for those wanting that so-loved lasagne, the traditional remains to be touted as one of cleveland's best; however, the eggplant (of which i generally don't like) was both a taste-bud and eye-catcher. it offers asauceno-doubt slowly cooked for 6+ hours and both baked to perfection. grandmother, at age 88, still masters the teramisu, producing a need to lick the fork, your fingers - - - and the plate, providing you have room for any as the servings are a bit healthy.
the staff is perfect, non-intrusive, charming and delightfully friendly. this is not a restaurant stuffed with pretense but filled with others pursuing the same - - - mouth-watering appreciation for traditional italian cooking. two of us had appetziers, wine, dinner and desert (1) for about $70.00 - - - oh, and take-home, for lunch.
it is rather isolated in an older part of town but that adds to its uniqueness. i'd suggest you plan ahead - - - seating is a bit challenging after 7:30 on weekends.
thank you bruno (absent the evening i was there catering a dinner in pittsburgh) and grandmother.
see you again - - - and again.

my wednesday @ brunos'. i came to brunos' with my daughter this past wed.evening.i didn't realize it would be so crowded on a mid week night.i had no reservation, but was quickly seated at the only available table next to the kitchen/restroom area. i always hate that, but next time i'll call ahead..i say that because there will be a next time.
i didn't see veal marcella on the menu, but i asked,if the veal medallions could be used instead of the chicken. she said i'm"sure" we can do that for you. (nice feeling already) they did and thesaucewas the best i have ever eaten.
the portions were all very generous and the salads were of fresh crip ingredients.also the server realized the i was someone who ate my salad after my meal(last) and put it aside til needed
.ok ok, like someone on this blog site said the bread wasnt that great and you had to keep asking for it...thats all i could find to be critical about, but i'll bring my own bread and go back.yes i'll call first cause the seating area is small, but worth waiting for.

very disappointed. i went to the restaurant with a friend today to try it for the first time from the suggestion of a coworker. the restaurant is very small, when we entered, they asked if we had reservations, in the future i would suggest you make them, but we were seated quickley. we both ordered ice tea, the tea was good. we did go on line and they had a coupon for a free appitizer. we wanted to order the oliva impanara but they said they dont make it anymore. so we ordered the antipasta. the dish looked good, but the meats were awful. we also go bread with our meal that is suppose to be home made, again, the bread was so dry and untasty. i am always looking for the good, so i figured lets keep going, the rest of the meal might be great. no such luck. we received our salads, my ranch dressing was so bland and the house salad was very peppery. the leafs of the salad were looking as the salads were a bit too old. again, figure we will no be disappointed in the main course or dessert. we then got the main course. my friend got the ravioli and cheese and i of course got the lasagna, suppose to be best in cleveland. ugh. i tasted the ravioli, the shell was very thick, the cheese inside was not very good and thesaucewas terrible. as for my best lasagna, i was so dissapointed. thesaucewas not at all good, the lasagna just tasted so poor. i have to say that if that is the best in cleveland, i would never want to try lasagna anyplace in cleveland. infact, i had a stoufers lasagna and it was better then theirs. fianlly we got the dessert. terimisu. i have no expierence in knowing what is good in terimisu, but my friend did. i ask them how they rated it, they said it was very good, i had some and it was good, but i had to rely in their opinion. i never write reviews, but i just had too this time. i usually give a restuarant two chances, you never know, maybe it was just an off day or maybe we just ordered the wrong meals. i dont think i am going to go back to try it again. i have eaten in many restuarants, from all over the united states to italy to isreal. so you can listen to my review or just possibly it was a bad day.

another recession casualty?. maybe it's the economy, or maybe nobody at bruno's cares anymore. my family and i have been going to bruno's for at least a decade- dine in, carry out, entertaining friends from out of town. over the past two or three years, i've noticed a very disappointing downward spiral in bruno's quality of food and the general 'give-a-@&$%' of the staff. a $14 lasagna ought to have at least a little bit ofsauceon it- but it was so dry i swear it could have caught fire. the caesar dressing was putrid, as was the meat in my stuffed peppers. needless to say, i did not finish my dinner and am only hoping i don't get sick from the meat. thanks a lot, guys. i'll never be back.
