if you like blue cheese, maytag is the best. this place uses only the best ingredients and the food and service was very good. also if you like tiramisu you must try it here. the bottom layer is heavily soaked in espresso !!!! so good.

great, fresh, real food at a reasonable price.

had the fish sandwich. it was out of this world. it will be hard not to get that same sandwich again! if all the other menu items are that good, it will be a difficult choice to make.

let me start by saying they have some great ideas, but poor execution. the best part about this experience was their decent selection of microbrews. the service was also wonderful. the food was a different story. the chicken in my friends dish and mine was dry, and overcooked. the tuscan chicken tasted and looked about as impressive as the frozen bags of italian pasta w/ chicken at walmart that one can get for $4. it wasn't bad, but it wasn't what i'd call good either. the menu was predominantly geared towards lunch, offering many sandwiches, pizzas and salads but not a whole lot in the entree department so it was less than ideal for dinner. the atmosphere was decent, and the prices were reasonable but it really wasn't worth the hour wait to eat something i could have made at home with minimal effort. i probably won't be going back considering that there are plenty of other better restaurants within a block or two that offer better food for around the same price without the wait.

he ordered the certified angus beef new york strip. as we found in a recent steakhouse trip - he likes ny strip and i like ribeye. he really enjoyed it - even the blue cheese butter - although he said, "that stuff is a bit funky." haha - yes, yes it is.

dinner, i had the blackened tuna on a ceaser. it was awesome and normal portion sizes.

great atmosphere. eclectic and delicious menu. the chocolate custard is heavenly!

my favorite sandwich!!! is in wooster, ohio. "kefta burger made with local lamb and beef served with our tzatziki sauce and couscous salad.* $14.25"
i purely love broken rocks cafe & bakery. it is sophisticated, friendly and i had the best burger of my life. a perfect medium rare. every bite was bursting with flavor. the couscous salad was delightful. my husband had the brisket sandwich and loved it. he was very pleased with the potato salad and the dill pickle spear. our server was excellent. i am always impressed when the servers help each other and they do it beautifully. i wish i lived closer to broken rocks!!

very impressed! good brews - microbrews which change from time to time. home-baked bread great and food good. for dessert belgian chocolate custard which is really like pots de creme - wonderful. would come again.

my chicken salad sandwich was made with free range chicken, toasted walnuts, celery, onion, and raisins served on focaccia with orange slices. there was a lot of texture and flavor and the bread was delicate and fresh.

good food, poor service. broken rocks has a nice menu. great soups, too. they're exceptional. the problem, however, is awful service. frankly, it's difficult to get in and out of here in less than an hour over a lunch. i think it's an organizational issue, not that anybody is lazy.. i notice that there are no clear roles. everybody is floating around trying to do everything, and in the end the service suffers. a case in point is the person who takes your order makes much of your order. okay, so what about the guy behind me? the service needs to improve or this nice restaurant won't last long.

lunch review. first of all, let me say that i have only been three times...for lunch. i will update when i visit again.

as you have read, they make their own bread, and it is very very good. since it was lunch and there was homemade bread on my mind, i went with a half grilled cheese and 1/2 salad (it is a legitimate adult menu item)! it seemed like this would be the perfect way to taste their bread over lunch while still maintaining my waist. the person i dined with ordered the same thing (with a variation of the salad).

the service was horrible. there were three people working the floor....given that we were one of three tables (and that we both ordered grilled cheese with salads) it should not have taken 20-25 minutes to get us food. i also should not have needed to flag down the waitress for refills on drinks. twice.

the meal was good. it really was. the salads were fresh and had things in them to make you forget you were eating lettuce. the sandwich was everything that was promised. it seemed like both the sandwiches and the salads were small though.

but here is the real kicker (it still confuses me as i write it): for two 1/2 grilled cheese, two 1/2 salads, and two sodas the bill was around $25.

and we left hungry.

the bread? it is very very good. but consider buying a loaf of it there (or at the co-op down the street: local roots). i would like to go back again, and i will. i see the prices though, and it causes me to pause. two slices of french toast for $7?

this is a great place. convenient to downtown hotels and close to campus. great food and a wide variety of choices. added bonus - bells beer on tap!

save room for dessert. an excellent choice for lunch: we have enjoyed their salads and small pizzas. today we enjoyed delicious crab cakes with garlic toast. food has always been above average. service is at a relaxed pace and prices are reasonable for the quality. can be a little noisy during busy times.
whenever you are there, you have to try the belgian chocolate custard.

excellent two thumbs up. we eat here on a weekly basis. you will be pleased. they provide excellent sevice, excellent food, excellent drinks, excellent atmosphere, excellent prices. they serve the best filet i have ever eaten!! kudos to the owners. you have perfected every aspect of the dining experience!!!
