bravo. took a couple clients todinnerthere last night. (a monday night).
it was my first time at the restaurant and i will plan on visiting again.
staff was friendly and the food was very good. the chef brews small batches of handcrafted beer and they had 4 available last night. very good beer that complimented our meals.
it's just good italian food and the menu is not intiimidating. from pizzas to chicken marsala, every dish we had was incredible.
great wine and drink selection and the desserts are out of this world!

good restaurant. have traveled to the kalamazoo area several times, bravo has always been good. i always sit at the bar and have great service from a knowledgable bartender. last time i came in i finally asked why i'm the only person that sits at the bar. the bartender indicated that other area, competing restaurants, offer bar specials and that they think people want some sort of deal. i completely agree with them, i come to bravo because it's close to my hotel... i've been to other restaurants in town that are also very good, and less expensive. i guess if i lived in town i'd prefer to go somewhere else that is also good where i'm getting some sort of deal. that being said i will come back for the service and convenience but please give me more than an over priceddinnerspecial!

adding to the chorus. there's not a lot i can add to what's already been said here about bravo, but it is easily one of the top 5 tables in town. i could go on and on about the food, but suffice it to say that it is consistently authentic and amazingly good. they have a knack for putting slightly modern (occasionally trendy) twist on traditional italian dishes, and it works beautifully.

more than that, though, they offer themed cooking classes which (at least lately) have focused on recipes from some of the most well-known chefs in the world ranging from thomas keller (of french laundry and per se; arguably the most well-respected chef in america) to more celebrity chef types like michael symon (of lola; well-known iron chef).

they also run some well-attended specialdinnerevents like the molecular gastronomydinner(for those of us who can't get a seat at alinea or next and missed el bulli) and the annual all-stardinnerwhich is probably the highlight of the foodie calendar in and around kalamazoo.

all told, what makes bravo! stand out is not only its amazing every day menu (which, frankly, would be enough in itself), but that they make a concerted effort to be a hub for the foodie community in town which is a commendable, but often thankless, role. it may "only" be in my top 5 in terms of where it stacks up as a restaurant, but it's in the top 1 (tie with food dance) for most "important" food establishment in town.

in other words, go. there.
