an amazing birthday dinner. my family gathered to eat at boulevardier for my birthday and we had an incredible experience. i would like to mention that our server fabian was patient and very knowledgable about the menu (and we just happened to have the same birthday). i started my meal with the escargot and roasted bone marrow. i'm familiar with escargot and enjoy cooking them at home, but these were like none i'd ever had. they almost had a thai-inspired flavor in a creamy ginger sauce.... so yummy! but needed a little salt in my opinion. the roasted bone marrow was new for me, but equally delicious and the onion marmalade that came with the dish was the perfect pairing. after such a great start to a meal i was definately not shy to tasting everyone elses dish in addition to my own :) i had the boullabaise which was full of perfectly cooked seafood in the most delicious saffron/lobster broth. i would definately order it again. i also got to try the gnocci entree, steak frites, crawfish beignets, and the idaho trout. every dish was extraordinary, but one dish stood above all the others for me. the lambs neck daube was out of this world. it was like everything i love about a home-style roast, but elevated. the meat was so tender and was surrounded by the well-seasoned perfectly roasted outside. even the honey glazed carrots that accompanied the dish were simply put, perfection! i cannot wait to go back and keep trying the wonderful food on the boulevardier menu.

have you ever just walked in a restaurant and thought to yourself… this is going to be good..? well, that is exactly what went through our minds as we entered this quaint, french-inspired bistro. the boulevardier , located in bishop arts, welcomes you with every aspect of the decor from the yellow painted brick to the staff dressed in their matching plaid, each accent is well-thought out and contributes to the inevitably enjoyable experience. we sat down for brunch and torn as to what we should order. each item looked as if it would melt in your mouth and we didn’t want to choose just one…so we didn’t. whether it was the huckleberry sauce mixed with the duck leg and eggs and fried corn grits, or the perfection they call french toast, each bite was better than the last. a meal this delicious deserves a bite b

conquering french cuisine. - food: all of my french favorites at their very best- steak tartare, bone marrow, foie gras, croque monsieur, the list goes on.

-atmosphere: intimate, romantic setting with wine racks lining the walls, many small tables and a large wrap around bar. unfortunately, instead of reticent parisians, the crowd was mostly loud americans and it was uncomfortably loud.

- server: helpful and patient enough to go through the whole menu, explaining how many items are prepared and which are the chef's favorites. however, i hope some of this information was coming from his iphone since he frequently referred to it

- parking: $5 valet parking located behind the restaurant- highly recommended- parking in this area at night is a disaster.

- recommendations: the braised lamb neck daube falls off of the bone and if you're willing to go out on a limb, the bone marrow spread over bread and caramelized onions is one of the best dishes i've ever had

boulevardier’s owner-executive chef nathan tate is not from paris. a non-french citizen cooking french food is good news because sometimes french chefs need to calm down.
