happy may long weekendgreatfoodie friends, while travelling through napa i was very happy to have dinner plans at bottega ristorante ! napa is onegreatregion for flavour magic. the wine region boasts some of most wonderful wines you may ever taste, what kicks it up several notches is being able to enjoy the fruits of the valley along with award winning food created by award winning chefs…. bottegga did not not disappoint! on the contrary our taste buds were in true heaven. from the minute you park and start walking towards the restaurant the “feel” of being somewhere special in the valley was present. if you followed your nose it would take you along this path and lead you to the doorway to agreatdinner. the decor was warm and inviting featuring natural brick and warm natural woods. when you walk in the entrance you immediately see the bar/lounge on your left along with agreatwrap around patio that looked truly inviting. if you are lucky you will often see chef chiarello visiti

the dining room manages to give off an elegant but non-pretentious atmosphere, and the high ceilings and open kitchen were very inviting. i was excited when we were seated at a round table in the corner of the dining room. perfect for people watching and seeing what others had at their tables. the leather-bound menu. outdoor patio.  the dining room where we were seated. i loved that the ciabatta bread was served directly on the dining table! so rebellious, if you will. on the side, there is a parmesan chili garlic parsley olive oil and a pot of sea salt. thankfully, the parsley wasn't strong at all. (i despise parsley). insalata del uve, $11: organic greens, verjus vinaigrette, oven-dried grapes, candied hazelnuts, pecorino. a fancier salad with agreatbalance of citrus and sweet flavors.

this is the best restaurant in napa. the food is served just like in italy, the prices are affordable, and the service is outstanding.greatopen kitchen concept, busy bar, and outdoor seating.

we started with burrata autunnale (kambocha squash, caramelized mushrooms and shallots, and brown butter vinaigrette). the pesto complemented very nicely the sweetness of the winter squash. the burrata was so creamy and fresh, mouthwatering!

my husband got the goat milk braised pork orecchiette, served with chanterelles, cavalo nero pesto, pine nut gremolata, crispy savoy spinach, and pecorino. it

overall, we had agreattime at bottega. the place definitely fills up fast and i can see why it's so popular. it's centrally located; the food is very good; and it's a fun atmosphere inside. although none of the dishes soared to any new heights to blow us away, all the dishes were very well executed.

what made our lunch truly remarkable was not just the food but thegreatteam of staff who catered to us during lunch from the server to the busboy who cleared our table.

loved it! we had a beautiful experience at bottega. the scenery is gorgeous...try to get a seat on the patio!! we ordered several different appetizers for the table- fried dough with prosciutto and melon dipping sauce was out of this world, the salumi platter excellent, the calamari delicious, the polenta flavorful, and the tuna was devine. for dinner we had the pork chop, salmon, short ribs, and lamb - all were fantastic!greatservice, greatfood, beautiful setting...not much more to ask for!

not your typical lunch. along with my partner and family we enjoyed agreatlunch at bottega. from the first course, to the dessert we were not disappointed. michael chiarello certainly has a staff that celebrates flavor in the food. my wild alaskan sockeye salmon zucchini "spaghetti" with tomato & basil, balsamic-pine nut vinaigrette was a delight and i love my sockeye and enjoy it often. but none was better. my guests were please with their dining selections too.

so much for high expectations.... i went with two friends for lunch, expectinggreatthings of bottega. we were very disappointed. the location is lovely and the view from the terrace is beautiful, but the food is surprisingly lacking in flavor, texture and appearance. wow. i don't know what else to say. i hoped to end my meal with a nice shot of espresso and it came cold, without any crema and so bitter that it tasted like it had been sitting on the counter since the previous day. not agreatway to finish an already not sogreatmeal. literally left me with a bad taste in my mouth. i so wish i had a better review to report.

horrible experience. ! my wife and i and another couple from out-of -town went to bottega tues, march 24th and after having agreatexperience at the bar with the 2 young bartenders (very attentive and enthusiastic), our further experience with dinner took a sharp turn downward. our waitress looked like she had just finished a 12 mile run and was not knowledgeable about the details of half of the food items. while the descriptions of the items on the menu speak togreatpromise the follow-through at table-side was dismal. the shaved asparagus and brussel sprouts salad looked and tasted like coleslaw without any seasoning or dressing. very dry, bland and hard to eat. my wife's sea bass and skirt steak w/risotto was carelessly plated. the sea bass portion was tiny and thin and the beef was chewy and rubbery and the green colored risotto was mushy and looked like a left-over st patrick's day joke. my sword fish was the thinnest and smallest piece of swordfish i have ever been served and also carelessly plated as well. our friend ordered a pasta dish as an entree and it was served to him in a bowl the size of a cereal bowl with no serving plate underneath. our other friend ordered the ravioli's, and while tasty, they were served without a sauce and very greasy looking, piled by themselves in the middle of a plate. no extra shaved parmesan was ever offered, no ground pepper was ever offered ( we did finally ask for it). the whole experience was so underwhelming and so way below expectations that none of us could believe it. this is the worst dining experience we have ever had in our 20 years living in the napa valley ( and i am in national sales in the wine biz). someone is not minding the store and not training the staff!!!

not agreatplace for a veggie. even their one seemingly vegetarian dish, a pomodoro gnocchi, has chicken stock infused into it. to be fair, they did offer to make it with a brown butter sauce instead, but that's not really my thing so it was just a salad for me. you can't beat the vibe though. if you get a chance to grab fireside drinks outside, say yes.
