looking back i appear to have been a little more meticulous when it came to keeping on top of my travel eating, with the exception perhaps of the two weeks in san francisco , napa and vegas when i was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of posts that needed writing. below are some forgotten bits and bobs from that fortnight, as well as a few strays from our trips to hong kong , singapore , bilbao and closer to home , cheltenham and oxford. daniel patterson's coi is one of our favourite restaurants in san francisco . his food is always elegant, considered, and impeccably sourced. there was much we liked from the spring 2011 tasting menu - a rich velvety smoke-infused green garlic and goats cheese soup garnished with almonds and delicate wild onion flowers, tender seaweed-dusted asparagus tips cooked simply in their own juice served with lemon sabayon, and a sinfully good moscavado cake with sticky medjool dates and raw milk ice cream, to name a few. most special though was the crab melt, ca

in our top 5 ever!. this food is truly unique & very, very tasty. we "experienced" the polenta under glass,, the ricotta gnochi, short ribs, chicken & desserts, and all were amazing. i wish i could eat here more often. thanks for a great memory.

all of the main courses were under $30. i thought for a restaurant with a celebrity chef behind it, that the prices would be more expensive then they were. the food was excellent (not that you can really tell from my iphone pictures) and the service was okay.

chef chiarello creates..once again.. a place with charm, excellent cuisine and a dining experience of pure bliss.. whether for lunch or dinner. the setting is a blend of napa and tuscany. the service is exemplary. and the food and wines...... as i said... pure bliss... we have dined here several times and always try new menu items..all are superb! recently we enjoyed an appetizer of fresh mozzarella, figs and fresh basil with a touch of honey! extraordinary!!

beautiful meal. we had a beautiful meal at bottega. the bread was amazing, the courses that followed were fine tuned & tasty.

great patio! the fireplace was started at around 4.30pm where people were having some drinks while waiting for the dining room to open at 5 pm.

four eyes foodie. over rated!! what a disappointment...is the chef in the house? he needs to check on business and the snotty maitre'd...our money spends as well as those rich boys from napa. don't overlook us for drinks and appets the next time...oh, there will not be a next time!

loved eating outside, and the goat cheese panna cotta was to die for! to sum up, the food is great, but you might want something that feels a bit less mass market depending on your personal preferences.

wow!!. polenta under glass with caramelized wild mushrooms and balsamic game sauce is probably the best thing i've ever eaten. this was one of the best dinning experiences ever. makes sense that this is one of chef michael chiarello signature dishes.

mediocre food, terrible service. my husband and i stopped by for a nice evening. we were very excited to go to this restaurant. we had the charcuterie platter to start, then he had the risotto of the night and i had pasta. the risotto did not have the correct kind of rice in it, so it was not very good. my pasta was brutally underseasoned. when the waitress finally came around to ask how things were (5 minutes after we had finished), i mentioned the underseasoning and she said that "that was the way it is supposed to be prepared" and gave me a lecture on seasoning. i felt badly for the people at the table next to us... they ordered a bottle of wine when they arrived, and 2 courses later (about 45 minutes) it still had not appeared. terrible service overall.
