i'm beginning to think that early morning workouts make my days off so much more productive. hit up am cycling at washington sports club in clarendon and found myself absolutely starving. max was up, and also off today so we decided to get breakfast at bob andedith'sdiner on columbia pike.

both of us decided to get the country fried steak, and neither of us was disappointed. it reminded me of a tasty home cooked version of something grandma would whip up. i was pleasantly surprised by how little oil they used to cook my home fries. often when cooking home fries or hash diners will use way too much oil and over salt. at bob andedith'sthey barely salted anything, which i really appreciated.

if you're looking for a home cooked start to your day, or a late night option for munchies, i would definitely recommend bob andedith'sdiner.

great experience. i stopped in at bob andedith'sfor breakfast this morning. the place was busy, you might have to stand at the door for a bit but the food is worth the wait. plus the kitchen moves the orders along at a good pace so they are able to rotate tables fairly quickly. i had a spot at the counter so i was able to watch the cook line and i liked what i saw! i wanted to try everything i watched them cook! big, thick pieces of french toast, fluffy waffles, crispy homefries. i will definitely be coming back. the service was very friendly, i was checked on frequently, and my food came out way sooner than i expected with the place being as busy as it was. i had the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy, two eggs sunny side up, hashbrowns, and toast. it was absolutely delicious. oh and they made sure my coffee cup was always full! bonus!

lol! i love bob. really i do.. while eating a late breakfast at bob andedith'sdiner in arlington va. today, i attempted to submit a review using my urban spoon android app. the review ended up saying simply...

"i love bob"

apparently there is a bug in the android app, where you can't use an ampersand (&) in the body of your reviews. if you do, then the rest of the review is simply trashed. there is no visible means of editing the review to fix it, so you try again, not knowing about the ampersand bug, with the same results. once i got back to my regular computer though, i was able to edit the review, so here it is...

i love bob &edith'sdiner. i come here for breakfast anytime my travels bring me close enough to stop by. last time i was here was in november 2013, and i had the opportunity to bring my wife with me. she liked it too.

it's definitely not to kind of food that you can eat every day, but for some high quality southern, homestyle, cooked to order comfort food like my grandmother used to make, it is definitely worth the trip.

adequate. i can't imagine this review going over well with folks, and maybe that's appropriate, since i'm not from d.c., and while i visit here often, and enjoy a wide selection of food from the crystal city/arlington area, perhaps i'm missing out on something.

i ate at bob &edith'srecently, read the short story of the family and restaurant history, and was promptly served by a friendly gentleman. the coffee was alright, and the water cold. i took a look at the menu, and i expected great things. after all, a plate of eggs and sausage was nearly eight bucks.

instead i went for a western omelet. the food was served promptly and wasn't spectacular really. the home fries were slightly undercooked, and unseasoned. the omelet was pretty average, even bland, certainly not bursting with any unique flavors. i don't like reaching for the salt and pepper, but in this case i didn't have much choice if i wanted to enjoy my $11 worth of breakfast.

that's what killed me about the place. maybe i'm crazy, but $11 is a lot of money to me when it comes to one meal. i'm not cheap, i'll pay high dollar for a wonderful experience and delicious food. bob &edith'soffered neither really. but, perhaps i'm asking too much. to be honest with you, as a marine of nearly seven years of service, i've had better omelets in chow halls in iraq and afghanistan.

there are lots of good places to eat in the area. in my opinion, you shouldn't waste your money here, there certainly isn't any "experience" to be had, unless you've never been in a waffle house.
