excellent!!. have enjoyed dinner several times at this fine dining establishment. the chef is outstanding and very accommodating to dietary restrictions such as gluten free. really recommend you try it. wines are reasonably priced, entrees are well balanced - fish, meat, poultry- all are available.

great atmosphere. the best part of blackstone grill is the atmosphere. it is quiet, relaxing, elegant and the staff takes very good care of you. our server, larry, did an excellent job because he was attentive, knowledgeable and personable. also, the owner stopped by our table to check on our experience and that left a good impression. we started our meal with complimentary rolls and sesame crisps with a white bean dip and we really enjoyed these. we had the shrimp quesadilla as an appetizer. it was very filling with a lot of cheese, a fair amount of shrimp, tasty guacamole and a crispy light tortilla. my husband had the flounder special. the flounder was a large portion and it was flaky and mild and he liked the flavor. his "sides" were more of a decoration than actual sides. he received two pieces of skinny asparagus, three or four leaves of spinach and maybe a half a cup of garlic mashed potatoes which wasn't a bad thing after all since he didn't think they were very good because they weren't creamy and not very firm. i had the grilled vegetable pasta which was a big bowl filled with tomatoes, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, squash, carrots and spaghetti. the pasta was very good and filling and i couldn't finish it. we will return again because there are other items we want to try and the service and atmosphere is great.

best kept secret in jax!!. wow this place is great!! ive been numerous times for lunch and just recently went for dinner and was blown away. the menu is full of great choices, and at around $10-12 for lunch, its an absolute steal! dinner is a bit pricier, but well worth the coin. entrees range from $20-30, but the quality of the ingredients and the skill in preparation are well worth every penny. on my last visit i was able to speak with the chef/owner and had nothing but praise for his talents! our server (justin) was outgoing, knew the menu in and out, and offered suggestions that didnt just include the most expensive thing on the menu for dinner service (a tell tale sign that i usually dismiss server recommendations by!). my girlfriend, whos normally quite hard to please, ordered each of his suggestions and was amazed. he even offered wine-pairings for our entree selections...my steak was cooked to my perfection and i found out from the server that all the meat cuts are hand-cut in the kitchen by the chef himself. we ordered the filet mignon and chilean sea bass and im not sure which was more impressive, the presentation or the taste! we have been back for dinner twice already in the past month and will continue to go as it is now my girlfriends favorite restaurant in the city. we request justin everytime we go, you can really tell he enjoys leading newbies through the menu lol. try the goat-cheese salad or dumplings as apps...simply phenomenal. desserts are all made in-house, and i cant speak for all of them, but the creme brulee and tiramisu are both amazing!!

blackstone grille could be accurately described as a "local favorite." this american restaurant serves lunch and dinner in a moderate fine dining atmosphere.

wonderful and comfortable. what a pleasant, elegant place to dine. the word "grille" in the name is somewhat misleading. this is fine dining at its best. this restaurant serves food that is a fusion of asian and french cuisines. it was listed as one of jacksonville's top 25 restaurants in 2009 by jacksonville magazine.

the wine cellar is well stocked with high quality offerings. the bar is well stocked as well. prices are moderate, and the atmosphere is relaxed but sophisticated. over all it is a very very good restaurant.

robert. very nice restaurant in the otherwise "dining wasteland" of mandarin. excellent food, good wine list, friendly reception, perfect staff, and comfortable ambience make this a place that i go to regularly.

a great restaurant that needs exposure. this was my first dining experience at blackstone grille and it will not be my last. i'll get to that in a minute.

first let me say the most important aspect of attracting people to your business, restaurant or otherwise, is exposure. if you don't know grill has an "e" in the word, try finding blackstone grill's website in a yahoo search. i know, without the e in grill, it's non-existent. and with the hyphen in the website address, it just makes it that much harder to find.

now back to the review...

i called earlier in the day and made a 6:30pm reservation. upon our arrival, we were concerned for the need of a reservation since only one table was occupied. hmm...we decided to take the plunge and try it anyway.

we were quickly seated and welcomed by our waiter. he was professional, experienced in catering to our needs, and provided the perfect balance of conversation, recommendations, and etiquette. for example, upon filling my water glass, he slightly touched my fork. the waiter apologized and immediately replaced it. now that's service.

after spending what seemed like hours reviewing the robust menu, we decided on two entrees and a caesar salad. my wife ordered the chilean sea bass and i opted for the pistachio crusted chicken.

our server quickly returned with a bread basket which included a homemade crunchy flat bread and a creamy dipping sauce. the flat bread had a slight sweet taste but was perfectly complemented with the dipping sauce.

the caesar salad was a little sparse in size, but the dressing had the perfect balance of anchovy taste, garlic and parmesean. the coutons were also homemade and hard just the right amount of crunch.

our entrees arrived in a deep, over-sized, white round bowl in a layered fashion with the main protein as the crown jewel.

all i can say is omg! the sea bass and chicken were cooked perfectly and moist. our compliments to the chef!

blackstone grille is definitely on our radar for an upcoming return.

hopefully the owners will let others know about this wonderful dining spot by fixing their website issues. also, please fix the front entrance door from partially closing. it is an annoyance when someone opens an interior door and it makes a loud sound closing.
