fine dinning bistro style. we enjoyed a fried mahi sandwich (daily catch)& aixoise salad with sautéed calamari, both were very good. the made-in-house kettle chips were yummy, as well as the recommended sanserre (sp?) wine.

i went here with my boyfriend on our 2-year anniversary, and this place knocked us out of our socks! we started with escargot, brie, and ceviche, and then had lamb and grouper for our entrees. the fish had large, white, meaty flakes, it was tender, flavorful, and the skin was crisp and delicious! i normally do not order fish, but this was the best fish i ever had! my boyfriend said the same about his lamb! our server, robert, was very pleasant, friendly, and took very good care of us. his service was top-notch. i can't wait to dine here again!

great drinks and service at the bar. oysters were very fresh. dinner was great the escargot and spare ribs were great as well as a lava cake for dessert. great atmosphere and food.

went on a date at bistro aix last friday and had a really great experience all around. it was a last minute restaurant choice and normally that is hard to pull off at a popular place on a friday, but there were open tables and seats at the bar in the lounge. fine we us. the bartenders were friendly, very knowledgeable, and had delicious recommendations. the pork choucroute is my new favorite! it has tender pork shoulder, housemade sausage, potato dumplings, and julianned apples and whole gain mustard which add a tartness to the savory meatiness. try it! i will definitely go back soon.

took a newbie and he loved it. went with the classic blue cheese chips which are crispy and cooked perfectly every time.

main course 1: special pork shoulder with mustard glaze, napa cabbage with red wine vinaigrette, apples and potato dumplings.

main course 2: house made ravioli stuffed with crab and shrimp.

service is impeccable. always perfect. try out happy hour m-f 3:30-6:30.

we had not been to bistro aix in a while but were intrigued by their new oyster bar that they had been promoting. the oyster bar is where the front bar used to be and seats about 10. as soon we sat down, the executive chef ian came over and introduced himself. it turns out that we are neighbors! he treated us to tuna tartar which was delicious! so much so that my wife ordered a second one for her dinner. we also some of the best blue point oysters that we have had. i had seafood raviolis which were so good!everything was outstanding!

one of our favorite spots in jax. lovely little place in san marco, great ambiance, and top notch service. the blue cheese chips are so delicious. definitely worth a visit.

pasta glue. today i went to bistro aix. usually a pretty decent place yet today half of the shrimp tagliatelle's pasta was stuck together so badly it was like glue. the shrimp was hard but not inedible. when i mentioned this to the waiter he took it back but never returned with an apology. not that i needed one but an acknowledgement would have been nice. once he came with the bill i remarked at my surprise that the chef had not said anything and his response was that the pasta maker was scolded. this negligence worries me for several reasons: 1: the chef has lost touch, two there was no effort to make at least the cheapest item in our meal complimentary. lastly, aix is becoming a restaurant i just stop going to. jacksonville has so few good restaurants. like bb's and many others. and the chef's are just so unaware of how to cook even seafood, a staple of florida. this is mind blowing.

.....bistro aix offers an excitement and energy that truly is unmatched. the exposed brick walls of the restaurant’s interior create a coziness that contrasts sharply with the buzz bursting from the always packed dining room and open kitchen. it’s the sort of place you’d want to take clients for a great night out and also the kind of spot that would be at the top of our list of place to impress a date. not all that hungry? an amazing bar area complete with couches to cozy up on awaits just across the main dining room. from the classic and wonderfully simple french dish steak frittes to the foodie fav bone marrow, bistro aix offers high end options everyone can enjoy. bistro aix – cheese plate bistro aix recently experienced a change in executive chefs and a change in ownership over the past year or so. sometimes a change like this can be detrimental. in this case it’s reinvigorated a restaurant that has long been a leader in high end dining. with this change their menu has seen some great new additions while keeping old favorites. just this month bistro aix also kicked off their new raw bar with options from oysters to high end caviar for the raw food connoisseur. we kicked things off with 6 raw oysters($16) from the bistro aix’s new raw bar. these were served with mignonette, tomato-horseradish “pearls”, and fresh lemon. the two oysters on offer were the blue point long island and james island virginia varieties. the blue point were quite large with a fairly mild flavor. the james island oysters had a much fuller flavor which we particularly enjoyed. the mignonette(a sauce typically made with minced shallots, cracked pepper and vinegar) was a nice option as opposed to the cocktail sauce and horseradish often served with raw oysters. bistro ai

steady performer. monday night. the place had a nice crowd. we were very near the kitchen / waitstaff pickup point. noisy, but the whole place is pretty noisy. good food. good service. consistently good. the margherita pizza was superb. look forward to our next trip back.

chris john bistro aix, since the removal of this item, which is a customer favorite. he toke it upon himself to make a special for those customers still requesting for the parmesan truffles fries, his thoughtfulness and attentiveness is something to make note of. i highly in courage customers to request for when dining at bistro aix

parmesan truffles fries. biggest downfall of this restaurant is the removal of this item, it is a customer favorite. to include the tempeh which broke my heart when i found out.

thank goodness for the new owners!!! the food and service was great! ! the beet salad and roasted lamb is amazing! what an improvement. can't wait to return. yum!

bistro aix experiance. i had a reservation for dinner at bistro aix for dinner. we were seated at the back table by the kitchen. i asked if there was another table available. some tables you could tell were obviously reserved. another person in my party asked about a table that appeared to be available. we were told that the table was for someone important. i responded by saying that we were important. we were then told that we could explain that to the owner's parents. a nice response would have been, i'm sorry but all of the tables are reserved. bistro aix might want to remember that without their unimportant guests, they would not have a business for their important guests to come to. they had no problem taking our unimportant money. by the.way, the food was great. our unimportant visit was for a birthday which was very important to us.

always good food. had the handrolled gnocchi w/shrimp - yummy tiny seasoned tomatoes and sweet corn, no gummy sauce. really flavorful. had french press coffee after, and it tasted like silk. this place is noisy and the portions are small , but it is a nice break from traditional restaurants where they load up your plate with food enough for two! at least this food is always a joy to taste. server was attentive also.

profiteroles. never mind the other stuff - go there for these! lol. also have had some great pork loin there. they care about their food :-)
