pricey but good - ideal for business dinner. we have had several business dinners at this restaurant over the past 10 years. the food selection is pretty good, though i always choose a good fillet steak. call me boring, but knowing that this is a good dish i stick to it. if i want to be adventurous, i go somewhere else. in fact, i only go to birk's if two conditions are met: we organise a business dinner, and members of the dinner party are keen on steaks. remember, it is rather pricey so the event needs to justify it. however, the quality is great, the attention to detail too and the wine selection is pretty impressive too.

sad but true. i had the privilege of going to this fine dining restaurant for lunch today and i have to say, it was one of the worst experiences i have had at any restaurant at this price class.

it is my understanding that usually, bread is offered when you first arrive, however, we didn't get any until we asked for some after the meal.

i ordered the 10 oz filet mignon, cooked "medium-rare". the first cut i took at it was medium to medium-well at best and it was just like shoe leather.

when i told the waiter about this he asked me to cut through the middle and, i have to say, that it was indeed "medium-rare".

the trouble is, regardless how it was cooked, the meat was tough as shoe leather, even their serrated knives had difficulty cutting through the meat. the vegetable (some kind of spinach) was so-so, and the mashed potatoes were nothing special.

i have had far better experiences at morton's, ruth's cris and flemming's... don't waste your time or money going here. over all, i think it sucked (and btw, my college ordered some kind of salad with chicken and the chicken was overcooked and dry).

avoid this place like the plague.

got there early and it was very quiet. very nice service. i had the calamari app and it was very good. nice crust, firm but not chewy. main was 8 oz prime rib. ordered med rare but it arrived medium. server quickly saw problem and refire was quick. it was now busy and quite loud in the restaurant. overall good food, good service, and a good stake house.

this restaurant deserves an overall b-. with so much to want to love about a steakhouse in an office building, this restaurant has left me wanting more. more service, more flavor, more choices, and more atmosphere..

east coast steak house in silicon valley. for relocated east coast carnivores, this is the place in silicon valley to satisfy your homesickness. the pepper filet is my favorite.

odd location but better than you might think. odd location in an office building but the food is well made and the service is acceptable.

pricey, but tasty!. birks is definitely in the higher price range. it's not exorbitant (read: alexandars!), but it's not an everyday kinda place. when i've gone in the evenings with my wife, i've found it to be pleasant and great food. i had one waiter one time that was kinda argumentative to a buddy and i. i went back anyway, and he wasn't that way to my wife and i. maybe he was having a bad day. at any rate, the food is nearly as good as you'll find at any price point, so i'm satisfied with my experience.

i give this restaurant two thumbs up!

first time fan!. -i went on nye (2008). many good restaurants fail on this busy night; birk's did not. the clam chowder was worthy along with the seared ahi tuna. the wine selection is decent. the service was excellent!

the best part is the dessert! if you go, do not miss the dessert sampler (big enough for 2 or 3). this particular evening it consisted of white chocolate cheesecake, chocolate decadence cake, creme brule and the best bananas fosters bread pudding on earth!
