great ingredients but not so great. they started us of with a yummy basket of bread but forgot my husband's soup and the waitress told us she was going on break but someone else would take care of us. i don't know if my salad was made right because it was mostly soggy watermelon with soggy tomatoes topped with fetacheeseand sprouts. i had added chicken and it had lots of cartilage i had to spit out. my husband had the chicken and bruleed goatcheesesalad. he said his chicken was dry and the goatcheesewas on oily toast. he had to ask them to remove the soup from bill he didn't receive.

we enjoyed our dinner at big sky cafe. i had the vegy pot pie. it was pretty tasty with some added salt but it is definitely overpriced for what you get. it is a small portion. my daughter had the eggplant & threecheeselasagna. it was very good and in contrast to the pot pie, it is a huge portion. the cornbread they serve with the meals is awesome!! best part of the meal. great place for vegetarians and carnivores alike.

yes, yes, yes!!!! and no. i had the pork chile verde omelette with queso fresco yesterday, september 13 . 2012, and the pork was thinly sliced not stewed. i would never ever order it again. it was not good and i had been looking forward to it for eight months. i also removed my like it vote.

pork chile verde omelette with queso fresco
traditional pork stewed with tomatillos, japapenos, garlic & onions. garnished with sheep's milkcheese& avocado-tomatillo salsa. $10.50...
we split this awesome omelette.
the cornbread and coffeecake were perfection.
very good coffee.
this is a five star breakfast. ( and now it is not )
we'll return!! ( and we did and it wasn't good...so very sad.)

i hate all corn bread except for theirs. big sky uses fresh ingredients and has a lot to choose for vegetarians. their featured soups are always good and the food is flavorful yet simple.
i love their breakfast menu! the huevos rancheros with vegetarian chili and a side of home fries with garlic pepper plant sauce and cornbread is awesome! i love that they'll substitute any egg dish with tofu. i like the scramble with parmesean cheese, sundried tomatoes and spinach too.
my husband loved their bacon. and the swisscheesepancakes.
i think it's a given that locals know they have bad service, but the food is great. that's the only downfall. they also have outdoor seating which is a big plus in my book.

i liked this place! just driving thru and found it on urban spoon and tried it. nice open and bright atmosphere, but with class. nice choice of reasonally priced wine as you would expect from this area. eclectic menu. i had this fourcheeselasagna with eggplant that was so much better than i even expected. i recommend that plate highly.

big sky worth a try. there is a lot to like about big sky, though, admitidly, the place is not for everyone. but, if you like the idea of eating well-crafted food from an inventive menu in a charming and comfortable atmosphere, then it is certainly worth checking out.
one of my first praises for big sky is for its reasonable prices. there are dozens of well made items on the breakfast and lunch menu for less than $10. the savory turkey burger and the chipoltle and mushroom grilledcheesesandwich come to mind as both excellent and affordable entrees. i recommend them with either the sweet potato fries (served with orange zest -- how clever!) or the flavorful black bean chili.
the dinner menu is also a marvel, with combinations of food that may make some anxious, but certainly may excite others. the menu brings flavors from across the globe to create such treats as the sweet and tender brown sugar brined pork roast with yam risotto and apricott fig mostarda. you may have no idea what a mostarda is, but if you are willing experience some kitchen creativity, it is certainly worth the try.
the wine list is great, the staff is intelligent, and the wait is typically a little long. i recommend sitting at the counter during rushes - you can bypass the wait and will probably have some great conversation with the folks around you too.
