bibi's

i am reviewing as per my visit in 2014.....
after some street-art spotting nd schizophrenic irish weather along the way,,,, i found myself in bibi's cafe on a sunday afternoon. bibi’s is a neighbourhood cafe located in dublin 8, just off the south circular road......
i wished, i was giving away a well-kept secret by writing about bibi’s but judging by how jam-packed it was,,, when i arrived,,, it seemed that the secret was out and it’s already a popular brunch spot.....
there are two separate rooms in bibi’s,,,, a large nd bright one,,,nd then a smaller, slightly cramped room with tables extremely close to each other,,,,,, where i sat...

the place was cute looking with a homely decor nd thefoodis served in beautiful earthenware.....the little outside seating area looked like the place where you’d want to spend your morning catching up with a good friend or even sitting by yourself on a sunny day,,,, reading the sunday papers over a cup of coffee....
the compact menu included simple fares such as homemade scones, granola, beans on toast, salad plates, poached eggs with bacon or salmon nd sandwiches....they also had homemade cakes on display at the counter. i had to wait at the entrance for a few minutes (not too long though) before i got a table, as the place was extremely busy......
i happily ordered 1) the french toast (€10), which consisted of two eggy buttery, golden brown slices of brioche toasts and a few slices of delicious gubbeen bacon served on and between them,,,simple but good,,,, nd 2) the butternut squash eggs (€10). there was a bed of smooth garlic yoghurt at the bottom of my plate with slices of perfectly roasted butternut squash, two poached eggs, chilli butter and coriander sprinkled on top....
the chilli butter was deliciously rich and didn’t lack a punch, the dish was quite spicy which i loved and slices of excellent, toasted sourdough bread and butter were served on the side. i almost licked the plate, almost.......lol........
i finished with a slice of peanut butter chocolate brownie (€3.95) which was definitely too small,, nd too good....
it was a charming little cafe serving well-cooked uncomplicated brunch dishes. thefoodcame quick enough however the staff were a little forgetful on a few occasions but it wouldn’t stop me from coming back. the portions were sensible (don’t go if you have a massive hangover and want something huge and greasy) and the atmosphere was pleasant. i’ll be back for more.....

food in bibi's is great for brunch or lunch - haven't yet tried it for dinner. it can often be busy so waiting times can take longer than hoped for but thefoodis tasty and worth the wait.

have had a little love affair with bibi's for a few years now. when i first visited this hidden gem it was tiny with half of the premises as a clothes shop. thefoodwas exceptional. they have now converted the whole thing into a cafe and i have been back many times since.

i went to bibi's on friday. i got the roast vegetable and quinoa salad, which was delicious, perfect for a cold day. the others got french toast, poached eggs with bacon, and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. it was thumbs up all round! while some of the dishes sounds simple, they are done to absolute perfection! as well as the classics they have some more exotic dishes, the butternut squash is my absolute favourite! turkish eggs are great too. the coffee is delicious (possibly better than 3fe).

there's a lovely atmosphere in the place. it's easy enough to get a table mid week but be prepared for a short wait for the weekend brunch. i guarantee you it's worth it!

bibis is fantastic. theirfoodis consistently great. most of thefoodis brunch style - pancakes and eggs but there other things. it's one of the best brunch places and gets so busy at weekends so it can be hard to get a table. highly recommend bibis!

the only reason i'm not going for full 5 is the size of the place.foodis so delicious that every time you go there you need to wait at least 20 minutes to be seated.  other then that-amazing. went there last saturday for lunch. my smoked chicken and avocado salad was just amazing ! definitely worth to visit next time you in the area.

a hidden gem in the residential streets of dublin 8. really passionate chefs churning out awesomefoodusing uncommon ingredients such as miso, to great effect. if you have a sweet tooth, get the chocolate peanut brownie. it's special.

place is very similar to brother hubbard/ sister sadie. same structure of squeezing as many gusts as possible. i couldn't go to the toilet without refurnishing the place. they have only poach eggs, i asked for scrambled but they couldn't make it. thefoodwas very tasty and nice, complements to chef for making perfect poach eggs!
