first of all, i thought for aplacenamed better than sex, it was cleaner and more classy than a walk down duval, or hey, go read some tshirts at a tshirt shop?? the menu was a little silly, yes. but the servers were attentive and professional, and the food could stand alone. every dessert and drink we ordered was delicious and presented beautifully. my favorite was jarka's drink, a red wine with a cherry chocolate rim (i apologize i have the name wrong; excellent server). our favorite dessert was named after the missionary... sort of a rustic apple crisp like dessert with vanilla bean ice cream that was simple and perfect. if we were local, we would have to come back until we had tried every item. fun place; but more importantly, good food and drinks.

our new friends had been to better than sex - a dessert restaurant already and they wanted to go back. intrigued we went along to give it a try. unfortunately they were out of the signature dessert (you guessed it - it's called "better than sex") but we still enjoyed some delicious treats as well as chocolate-rimmed dessert wine - whoa a serious sugar kick! the restaurant is dark and some of the menu items have racy names. they do provide flashlights so you can read the menu. definitely a uniqueplaceand not quite like anything i've ever experienced before.

what a unique idea, a restaurant that focuses on sensual gourmet deserts. plus the name "better than sex". you know i had to check out thisplacewhile on key west.
there are a small number of tables and a demand for this little gem. though we were able to walk in and wait (45 minutes) to get a table, i recommend reservations be made. they have a nice wait system where they text you when your table is available, so you can walk duval (block away) as you wait.
we sat in the nook dining room, which included a short narrated kitchen walk through tour. the nook reminded me of a monochrome victoria secrets - clean, upscale and sexy.
we started with drinks. we each had "gyration"s - chocolate stout served in a glass rimed with chocolate. the chocolate rim definitely brought out the chocolate in the stout and added a creaminess not customary in beer, but very enjoyable. very good.
my partner had the "tongue bath truffle" - two dense, rich chocolate tort wedges, served with raspberry sherbet and garnished with a white & milk chocolate ribbon. raspberry and chocolate has always been one of my favorite combinations and this was not a disappoint. though dense, the tort melted in my mouth and when combined with the sherbet was the perfect balance of flavor and texture: sweet vs. tart; dense vs. smooth. we both agreed it was great.
i enjoyed the "the morning after" - buttery french toast meets grilled cheese (brie) meets chocolate and berries, dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon, served with a small strawberry champagne soup for dipping. consuming it was even more indulgent than it sounds. it can best be described as near to a religious experience!
the food here is great and atmosphere fun. thisplaceis hyper romantic, so i f you can't get your grove on after dining here, it's on you!

my family and i went to this dessert spot, yes i know and yes my parents did make plenty of jokes. we really enjoyed it and it was friendly for older kids and adults (we range from 19 years old to 50+). the desserts we enjoyed were the fever, tongue bath truffle, twist and stout, banana bazooka, and the blueberry birthday suit. all were excellent, but not mind blowing in the sense that i would make a special trip to go back. there are a wide variety of options for drinks and desserts that will match anyone's dessert personality. the strawberry champagne soup that came with the blueberry birthday suit was a stand out and we shared a cream soda which was also really delicious! the restaurant does have a darker, date-like environment if you're looking for a private experience. the service was fantastic! my gosh, these people are friendly. i highly recommend giving thisplacea visit if you're in town for the lovely staff and the fun novelty.

my husband and i are honeymooning in key west and as soon as we saw this restaurant/dessertplaceand knew we had to come. the atmosphere was amazing. you walk in and it is dark with gorgeous chandeliers, and seating for 2. we sat in a cozy booth in the back, where we were surrounded by sensual, beautiful artwork. the waitress was so sweet, as was the other staff. i ordered the cookie nookie and my husband ordered the peanut butter perfection and we shared a root beer float. the desserts were so rich, but so delicious. it was an awesomeplace to visit. very romantic! i would recommend it for sure.

amazing! a must-goplacein key west! went with my parents thinking it may be odd to go as the idea of the bar seems sensual, however it felt very welcoming. many people came here with friends and family, so it is okay for groups instead of steamy dates. the desserts were delicious! can't stop thinking about the cookie nookie! had a root beer float, jungle fever and popcorn pimp. wonderful service and food... however very dark. they work around the darkness with nicely lit ipads. must go! reserve a spot first...

oh yeah, baby! soooo good! my hubby had the kinky key west cream pie (tart and creamy) and i had the better than sex bread pudding! it was the perfect blend of bread pudding and brownie. we topped it off with amazing coffee which was rimmed with dark chocolate. the service was excellent and friendly the minute you walk through the door. the perfectplaceto end (or start) a romantic evening. ;)

wasn't impressed by thisplaceat all. husband (owner) flies around either delivering dishes to tables or standing around staring at customers. a bit weird

mother of owner is sweet and adds a special touch to the experience by telling the history of the place.

now the desserts, meh. nothing to write home about. this is not a dessert to pay $13.00 for! these desserts are way too pricey! we got the twist and stout & better then sex desserts with drinks and total bill $50! expensive and not worth it! now if you want to experience it and give them your money then go right ahead but you were warned!
btw- drinks were so overpriced and nothing to them...trust me i purchased an $11.00 drink that was nasty! menu doesn't state it but if they convince you to dip your glass in their "homemade" caramel it's another $3.00. you can only taste it for a second because it's running down your glass creating a huge mess.
if you are eating dinner out purchase their desserts and don't go here!

thisplaceis ridiculous – in a really amazing, awesome, slightly dirty way. if you go to key west you really need to give thisplacea go. well, let me clarify, if you are easily offended by sexual innuendo, slightly naughty descriptions of food and beverages, or are one of those weird people that hate sugar, well, you probably shouldn’t go. go and do what ever it is that makes you happy. i’m sure you have an exciting life. if you are like me, and you love your food in all shapes and sizes, then make sure you put thisplaceon your to-do list. katie and i had booked in to visit for dessert after our lovely meal at the flaming buoy filet co., we figured 10:30pm would be a good time, apparently they are open to 12am so that gave us plenty of time. anyway i guess i should get on with describing the experience. it’s going to be difficult to review thisplaceand keep it pg, but i’ll g

.....but it nearly is ......... lights are low, red velvet drapes, solo guitar singer, table conversation suggestions......romantic, then add the jungle fever and a liquor in a chocolate rimmed brandy snifter and it's pure ecstasy!!!!!
one must take special note to the prices - it adds to the flavor of better than sex.

i had driven by this restaurant on previous trips and had always wanted to stop in. i am so glad i finally made it! upon walking in the staff was very kind and gracious. we were taken to a dark back booth and given an ipad to peruse the menu. the decor and music helped set the mood. everything was divine. we ordered the red velvet cheesecake and the cookie pie. to. die. for. the chocolate rimmed coffee and caramel rimmed root beer float were heaven. i cannot recommend thisplaceenough. it's for small parties, 4 and below so grab your partner and enjoy this sinful sultry destination!!
