sausages. beers. besties. when the going gets tough, sometimes only the perfect trifecta of german beers and sausages with besties can save your soul after a long week and bestie killed it on all three points last friday night. it’s agoodthing friends, matt and emily, were there to accompany me or else my night out might have been a bit of a letdown. a trendy little hideaway concealed inconspicuously between the shops and restaurants of vancouver’s chinatown, if it weren’t for the murmurs and whispers of an up and coming haus of sausage, you’d never think you’d be able to get your hands on some wurst in this historic part of town. wurst indeed though and not just any wurst at that. you’ve got your currywurst , your bratwurst , your turkey chorizo wurst , and your rosemary lamb wurst. best eaten when a beering because if ever there was a moment you felt the need to devour a dinner of curry ketchup smothered sausage atop a bed of deep fried spuds, trust me when i say this is it. if the beer hasn’t started flowing prior to arrival, bestie’s got you covered with their small selection of local and german beers. a nice accompaniment to the meal, it wouldn’t feel quite right without it. be sure to check out their drink special of the day because you never know what you might be missing. old asian ladies love their ginger so the refreshingly spicy munich mule was exactly what this old asian lady was looking for. what would a german haus of sausage be without the pretzel? $4 pretzel and mustard - we had to have it. to share a lone pretzel between three people is no easy feat and some fingers may have been lost in the process, but we overcame. accompanied by a dijon mustard and two grainy made in house mustards, this chewy pretzel is a fun way to kick start any sausage dinner. once the pretzel is gone and the wurst arrives, that’s when the party really gets started. there are two mains to pick from – currywurst as well
