i really liked the decor, service, and ambiance of this place, but the portions of food were smaller than i expected. i was also a bit disappointed with my currywurst, as i’ll explain below.

overall it was a satisfying experience. our bill was a bit over $30, which may be a little high for those who want a filling meal. i would come back for the bratwurst though, then maybe wander over to new town for fresh apple turnover.

fantastic sausages and great service. i have eaten at bestie quite a few times and i always have a great experience. the staff are helpful and friendly, and the food is very delicious. i have tried most of the sausages, and the classic pork is my favorite. their sides dishes are also very good. it is small restaurant and its always packed, so it's a fun environment to be in. i will definitely be back!

we settled on bestie, a crowd funded sausage shop in the heart of chinatown. their story is most eloquently told on their website here.  crowd funding a restaurant makes sense to me and i hope to see more of it in the future! with a few extra bodies this week we all met up at the restaurant around 2 pm. we were seated at the bar, separated by the servers pass, but eventually given a table! what we ate  pretzel board a pretzel, farmers sausage, stinky cheese sauce, mustards, and preserves i found their pretzels just okay. quite chewy and not too flavourful. the cheese sauce was not too strong, definitely had that unique ‘funk’ of an aged cheese, and was enjoyed by everyone! the preserves were (off memor

upon entry to bestie (it’s exterior is quite nondescript and hard to spot on a visually loaded pender street) you’re greeted to a stark white….room. it’s an extremely small space, with accents of colour influenced

ok. (shrug)..... went first time just this monday as i was craving takeout with protein and no carbs. found bestie on urbanspoon. went in and was impressed with the small space, very open and airy, well-lit and very clean. i tried the pork sausage and really liked it. the portion was decent. it came with a fair amount of sauerkraut and i switched up fries for salad instead. the cauliflower was amazing even though i disliked cumin in general...but this salad offered interesting texture with a hint of sweetness from the raisins.

the next day i went back again, this time decided to try the red pepper chicken...very very disappointing. bland, flavourless,...just very underwhelming. i could not taste any of the ingredients, no heat, nothing. i wished they even bbq the darn thing to give it a charred, smokiness to help with beefing up the flavor. i literally forced myself to chug the rest of it down coz i had no salt with me. the sauerkraut was helpful in getting the job done.

i would say give this place a try, but be very selective in which type of sausage you select as it could ruin your experience altogether. i'm sure with fries, it makes a better experience. to some, it may be no different than any sausage you find out at food carts. but the thing is, it's all natural with no additives or preservatives, that's where you're paying the premium. but was it really worth the buck? you will need to try it and decide for yourself.

bestie is a german street-food influenced sausage shop that calls chinatown home. they got their start through the crowd funding indiegogo platform, tempting patrons with promises of magical sausage cards and a really good time. it seems the people of vancouver (literally) ate it up surpassing their funding goal and ensuring chinatown residents would get a solid source of currywurst.

....the curried ketchup is really good. sausage was ok, fries weren't crispy, but then we took this to go and ate it about 20 mins later.

the line-ups don't lie! this place is great - we just dinner'd at bestie and devoured their currywurst (with a traditional brat, smothered in curry sauce on crispy fries & served with mayo) and sausage & sauerkraut (with a smoked bison sausage, tangy kraut, fries and a side of crisp gherkins) - then washed it down with munich's own schneider-weisse & a fab grapefruit radler. cannot wait for my next visit here.

the salad and sausage were delicious but the thing i enjoyed the most at bestie was their curried ketchup. it’s a condiment simply made by combining curry spices and ketchup, but i found it addictive. like a metronome’s steady hand, i found myself grabbing a french fry, dipping it into the spiced ketchup and then raising into my mouth. in an even rhythm, i repeated the process: fry, ketchup, bite, fry, ketchup, bite. i only stopped when i realize i had eaten every fry in my order.

bestie is a new german sausage parlour located in chinatown on east pender. they specialize in currywurst, which is a traditional german street food dish made with french fries topped with sausage and curry ketchup. the inside of the store is bright, minimalist and modern. it has a cute atmosphere and it is a perfect place for a quick meal. i came here with curtis from foodobyte and kirsty from eating with kirby to try some currywurst. both curtis and i went with their signature currywurst with a classic bratwurst sausage. the pork bratwurst was very good. it was juicy and had a good amount of fat, but it wasn’t greasy or too heavy. the curry ketchup was also delicious. it had a nice curry flavour that brought everything together well. the fries were good, but not great. i would have preferred them to be more crispy, but they soaked up the curry ketchup well. i also had a pretzel and mustard. the pretzel had a good chewy consistency and was salted on the outside. it came with two diffe
