dissssssappointed!. extremely overpriced, which is not usually an issue but this time it just seemed no bang for your buck.

less than mediocre breakfast - we orderd sunny side up - we got scrambled (wet & runny) rooster juice eggs.

not a very good experience. other patrons were feeling quite entitled it seemed. pushy, rude and impatient. waitress apologized - it wasn't her fault poor girl. we left her a decent tip, told her to find a job elsewhere and came back to our west-end stomping ground.

huge disappointment. don't trust the laudatory reviews displayed at the entrance: breakfast at beauty's is really not worth all the fuss that seems to be made about it.
food was no more than ok (quality of meat and veggies was very average; salmon on russian bread has nothing special, you can do way better at home), small portions for the ridiculously high price (11$ for a sandwich), no side servings... service is not unfriendly but somehow nonchalant and negligent; they managed to forget an ingredient in a 5-items sandwich, and there was a visible piece of blue paper still sticking on my tomatoes...
maybe some items on the menu are worth it, but it didn't give us the urge to try again.

the corner of mont-royal and st. urbain is the setting for beauty's restaurant, the montreal breakfast institution that has been in business for over five decades. classic diner fare is served amid electric-blue booths, 50's style posters and an all-around retro interior. known for their famously long line-ups (often out the door) and their equally famous "mish-mash" omelette, this is the place to satiate even the most unyielding of sunday-morning diner cravings. we always opt for their beauty's bonjour , a montreal bagel with fried egg, melted cheese and delicious bacon, or their beauty's basic , which comes with eggs, bacon or sausage, a bagel, and home fries. their french toast is also simple, classic and super tasty (though you'll be charged extra for some pure maple syrup). top it off with a smoothie (classico, beauty's bleu, mango magic, beauty's rouge or my personal favourite, cookies & creme) and you have yourself the perfect recipe for one quality afternoon nap. least i forget

there's a price to be nostalgic. the prices as well as the wait time are a little steep. it's quite charming that the owner greets you at the door, and that the decor is hasn't changed, but constantly having to put more money in the meter is not. after waiting about 40 minutes for a table, hymie tells us "we're not here to make money, we're here to make you happy". a $40 tab for breakfast for two sure didn't make us happy! i'm sure it was much better years ago. don't get me wrong, the food is good, but eggs are eggs.

mixed. there is usually a 5-20 minute wait due to the restaurant's low capacity.
waitstaff is usually kind and attentive.
service is rapid, luckily, and food is enjoyable.
the decor has a retro vibe which is contrived but still charming.
too pricey for frequenting, especially considering it's nothing too special.

food is not bad, but people need to get real... it's nothing special and for the price you can find 10 breakfast places closeby that are significantly better and more reasonably priced. this is a tourist trap with a rapidly declining fan base. hymie is great but his oafish son larry is usually running the place (into the ground) these days. throw in a 45 minute wait since the place in tiny and my only advice is avoid...

there is a real life couple behind this montreal staple, meet hymnie and freda. when they decided to open this diner in the city’s jewish district, i bet they didn’t expect line-ups of hungry loud mouthed montreal canadienne fans, hung-over visiting toron
