very authentic. my husband and i have both lived in germany most our lives (army brats), and we both have german mothers. although german cuisine varies from region to region, we've found the bavarian grill to be very authentic in taste to the food of southern germany. my husband swears everything is exactly the way his mom makes it, which is a great compliment the to restaurant. whenever we visit the bavarian grill, we feel like we're transported back to a nice village gasthaus were we can eat, drink and be merry. we have always had excellent service and quality food and drink.

my fiancé and i found this place around a year ago the weekend we got engaged. we've both had german cuisine before and he's been to germany. we both agree that it's the best tasting german food that we've eaten here in america and its the best besides that in germany. i get the rahm schnitzel every time and it's amazing. the mashed potatoes are wonderful. he likes to try something new every time. among the food, the atmosphere is great. it's like a cozy little nook inside. we go here every time were in the dfw area and we consider it "our place". i recommend this to anyone. it may not taste exactly like authentic german food, no, but it's great tasting food none the less.

disappointing. my boyfriend and i went here when we first moved to dallas after hearing great reviews. my only guess is that the people who have given this place a good rating have never had truly great german food. the food at bavarian grill was extremely overpriced and mediocre at best, not to mention the inattentive server we had.

a proper beer garden in plano. once you cross the threshold you are transported from a strip mall in plano to munich. germany exudes from every corner and like a real beer garden this is a good time for the whole family. hearty german fare made with authenticity, and the most amazing collection of german beers on tap.

unless you want to drink, drink, drink don't go! vesperteller (sampler appetizer) was a few pieces of cheese, pickles and cold cuts for $10. my wife's duck was overlooked (completely brown thru and thru), my sauerbraten was ice cold, not just the meat but the whole plate like it had waited 30 minutes while the duck was overcooking. table next to us (me, my wife and 2 elementary age children) were cussing like sailors and drunk at 6pm. i am of german origins but will never return here unless it's with a group of guys to drink, sing and not eat.

loved it!. i wasn't to sure when we drove up to this average shopping center location. walking up it started looking a little better, you walk through a covered outdoor patio to get to the front door. there is even a gift shop but it said it was only open upon request....why? inside the decor was authentic & fun. i've never had german type food before and i have to say i loved it. our bill was high but thats our fault ordering a few beers, appetizers, the most expensive dinner items & serveral desserts. we were so excited to try german food that we went a little overboard. the kids menu was great because they had authentic german items as well as your typical chicken strip american items. there is also a train that circles around the restaurant that the kids had fun watching. waitresses wear fun german style dresses. the restaurant smelled slightly musty when walking in, maybe thats how german food smells...i don't know....it was easily forgotten. this place must be so fun during oktoberfest. i definitely want to come back.

people were nice is the only nice thing i have to say. people had raved about this place and it was crowded, too crowded. some people were will to sit outside in the 95 degree heat to avoid the two hour wait we had. i had four people in my party. my lamb tasted like a tv dinner at room temp. my wife's food was cold too. if you have a reservation you can still expect up to a one hour wait. if you don't have a reservation, don't go. it is a fun place with music and beer. if you go, go in a big party and drink lots of beer so you don't notice the wait and cold food so much.

too busy to care. i made reservations at this place especially to take my father for a nice meal to celebrate his 80th birhtday. german food is his favorite and i was very excited to find a place that came so highly recommended. we got there on time for our reservation and it appeared to me that our reservation was lost. the host did seat us immediately but he gave us a tiny table that was right in the flow of traffic and every time the staff passed by one or the other of us was knocked aside. the host took our order and our food did arrive in a timely manner but once it was dropped off at our table no one ever came back to check on us. i mean no one ever came back to check on us. we sat there with empty drinks and dirty plates for over 45 minutes. this was with all the staff bumping us aside every two minutes but not even bothering to look to see our fingers sticking up or acknowledging an excuse me. when we finally managed to get someone's attention, his response was "if i was your waiter, this would never have happened but , you're not my table so what do you want me to do about it?" i asked to see the manager but he told me that would do no good, he'd get me the owner. i explained to the owner the reason for our visit and how we would have liked to order dessert, but no one had ever returned to the table. he mumbled about being understaffed and offered to have someone come over and play "happy birthday" on the cow bells, but i explained to him that we were not interested in calling attention to ourselves, we had just wanted to spend an enjoyable evening with each other to celebrate. he then said that he didn't know what we expected him to do. i told him nothing, just please give us a check so we could get out of there. he did then take care of our check but he seemed angry and not in the least bit sorry that he had spoiled a special occasion. i wonder how many restaurant owners know how something that seems a small irritation to them can really make the difference between a joyous family celebrtation and a devestating one. this owner was just too busy to give a darn and i say "shame on you, sir."!

a solid local favorite. the bavarian grill has been a plano staple for just under 20 years. i've been eating there since they opened in 1993.

why do i (and my relatives, friends, and co-workers) keep going back? good food served in a pleasant setting. the seasonal specials add variety, the german beer selection is outstanding, and i know that if something ever does go wrong with my order i can count on jorgen to see to it that its made right.

bland. fun atmosphere but very bland food. canned mushrooms, gooey schnitzel, flavorless sauce. bratwurst and apple tart were both good. the outfits on the waitresses are ridiculous.
