last thursday, we had our first dcminute happy hour of 2016 at bastille in old town, alexandria.  bastille’s patio was the perfect place to host this event, and the weather was fantastic!! menus were printed for the occasion, and our guests snacked on a variety of small plates. the frog’s legs seemed to grace several tables….

tonight i went with my family to have dinner at bastille. it was a very big disappointment to all of us a table of five. this restaurant is not allergy friendly. food is pre marinated with added black pepper which i can't have. there is only one gf dish in the menu i couldn't order anything from the menu ( every pre marinated) i was offered only a salmon or a rib eye with green beans. beef was awful with no salt added not even fresh herbs to make it tasteful. the chef nor the kitchen didn't go the extra mile to serve a
decent dinner. my husband' s side order of vegetables were overcooked. the kitchen was very slow. the only good thing of the night was the waitress. she tried her best with a beautiful smile.
for sure we'll never go back to have dinner at bastille

the best meal we had during our quick getaway to the dc/alexandria area.
the food we ordered was all top notch however the service was slow and unorganized during the not so busy fourth of july evening that we were dining.
we would definitely return again if we find ourselves in the metro dc area.

[ 0 ] february 12, 2015 | talisha bastille’s is a french restaurant that recently relocated to a new location in old town alexandria, in a revitalizing part of town.  they hosted a wonderful grand re-opening event that consisted of some of their signature starters of artisanal cheeses, beignets of escargots, charcuteries du jour and some very yummy gougerers that i couldn’t stop eating.  with ample street parking and wide sidewalks this new location will please the old and new patrons with intimate seating for couples and a private room in the back for group dining or private functions.  a wide glass window in the kitchen that diners can view while enjoying their meal. an ample selection of wine that is stored in a nice walk-in wine cellar was available for sampling. the atmosphere is very entertaining, with a small bar area that will be ideal for afterwork happy hour. i will return soon to sample some of their main dishes. wine cellar intimate seating open kitchen that can be viewed from the dining area. share this: email facebook twitter

this neighborhood gem, and i mean gem, is located on the outskirts of old town alexandria. there is plenty of parking, and an outdoor patio that seems like a perfect oasis for the youngins who don't have to go home right after work to handle carpool duty. the owners, christophe and michelle poteaux, are there on a daily basis, if not both at the same time. what this does for their restaurant is obvious. it allows them to have visibility to and influence on the smallest details. the little things that can make the difference between a meal that's acceptable and an experience that is best-in-class are handled with style, savoir faire, and hospitality. chef michelle was working the pass the night my family and i ate there. she sent an amuse bouche of  shrimp and corn beignets with basil on a rouille aioli. lots of garlic and basil goodness. it arrived very hot and crispy, as it should. somme

  is your mouth watering? you can find this creamy asparagus risotto, with organic carnarolli, and a fresh herb emulsion at bastille , located in alexandria. you'll love the restaurant's french charm and soft atmosphere. if you're in the alexandria area, stop in to try this delicious dish!  happy 4th!
