i know what your thinking -.... i know what you're thinking -- "this is one of those frou-frou places that you're wife drags you to" -- and you'd be right about that. you're wanting a chicken fried steak, but you're afraid all they're gonna have on the menu is one of those cucumber sandwiches with the crust cut off. well, gentlemen, let me assure you, barron's is much more than that.

barron's is whupping up some downright tasty vittles, and most of them you won't even be embarrassed to order. be sure to go on a friday at lunch and order the hot and crunchy chicken. it's delicious!!! you'll be going back for more. if you're there at night, try the southwest pasta, and see if you can stand the heat -- that thing will light you up!!! do these things, and not only will you have a full belly, but you'll have a happy wife, and as you know, a happy wife = a happy life.

the hot and crunchy chicken is amazing!!! the brunch is incredible. the maple salad dressing needs to be sold in bottles. love the atmosphere and the wait staff is great!

i just found this place in longview after 4 years. i have driven by it a thousand times. the sonoran sandwich is in my top 5 favorite sandwiches. their sweet potato fries with the cajun dipping sauce were really good too. several good menu choices. i sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and attentive. i will be back on a regular basis.

best restaurant in longview. best bar in longview. prices are high, but on par or lower for the food quality. i agree that it can get loud when full, but still much quieter than the crummy chains that open every other week. the wait staff is knowledgeable about food allergies and willing to find out if they don't know. great date night! i recommend the cheese platter for an appetizer.

very loud. music was not loud but everyone was talking over it and the room is so small it just was unbearable. when someone would laugh it pierced your brain. wanted a nice quiet evening and this was not the place to go.

don't waste your time or money. jason would like you to make a reservation, but sir the place is half empty on a friday night. waitress is pleasant, but doesn't even offer us the specials. waited 45 minutes for steak and veal. only to get the wrong piece of steak. waited another 20 minutes for the right steak to be cooked. so, my date ate a subpar piece of veal. didn't finish half of it. steak was cooked but not a $35 piece of meat. then the waitress charged me for both steaks.

don't call yourself a mercedes when everyone knows you have a kia engine under the hood.

weak all around, which is sad, because they finally finally finally have a great decour/setup.

need a new cook & management....won't be back again.

best in longview!. dined the day after valentines day (they raise the prices on v-day so make sure your bill is as listed on the menu). the food was excellent and the service was fantastic! i got the pan seared tilapia and my date got the lobster ravioli. both entrees were big enough to have leftovers, so it made the prices more bearable. i also ordered a small caesar to begin and it was very big and quite tasty! not to mention the bread was awesome and a great side item for the lobster ravioli sauce. i would highly recommend cafe barrons for a nice, quiet, sit-down restaurant in the longview area.

cauliflower mash!!! it is a amazing alternative to potatoes

we were passing through town and saw this place on urban spoon. rather than hit up the local red lobster we thought we'd take a chance. i'm so glad we did! my husband had the pork schnitzel and i had the trout. everything was delicious!!!

delicious food! my favorite is the mango chicken. while you're there, shop in a fun, eclectic, high-end boutique.

i feel guilty when i have lived near a keystone of east texas and have never visited it. many of you might be familiar with barron’s in longview. in existence for almost 40 years, barron’s started as a bookstore. it still is in part, but it’s so much more. it is a boutique and carries many unique items. it is also a fantastic restaurant, the latter category being my favorite.

set apart from the store in a quiet corner, barron’s is the perfect location for a romantic dinner or a business meeting. as you walk into the restaurant, you see a variety of delectable handmade candies and pastries. make your selections before you eat or you will fill up on treats before you have a chance to eat a meal. the chocolate truffles haunt me still. load up on them before you leave.

save room for appetizers. the maple pecan salad is light and refreshing. if you are more in the mood for something warmer, try the atlantic seafood bisque which is flavorful and spicy without being hot. the fresh bread offered is certainly well worth your visit. there are so many offerings which may dissuade you from eating a full meal. show discipline, dear reader. you will be rewarded.

i tried the special that night, a sizzling ribeye topped with flavorful sauce and two jumbo prawns. surf and turf at its finest. the steak was perfectly cooked as were the prawns. you might also try the hot and crunchy chicken. the crust has corn flakes and almonds, which is absolutely wonderful. further, try the garlic mashed potatoes. i hope this will convince you because i do not even like mashed potatoes and yet i ate mine. you can also try the rainbow trout, the perfectly cooked crab cakes, veal, linguini, or lobster ravioli with scallops. you are sure to find something to appeal to your taste.

as you dine, you will enjoy a quiet setting with mood lighting and wonderful pieces of art from various artists. while you wait, try the coffee. it is flavorful and comforting. i had four cups before my meal. and two afterwards with dessert.

oh yeah, dessert. there is a variety of cakes and pies to enjoy. my personal favorite is the raspberry cheesecake. and that does not mean cheesecake topped with raspberry sauce. it is a raspberry cheesecake. it is creamy with just the right amount of tart sweetness to make a delicious and satisfying dessert.

the only downside to the restaurant is the fact that when it opens for dinner, the store itself closes. several people nearly left when they saw that the store was closed. i hope the café is better able to show that it is open even when patrons are unable to shop.

if you have not had the chance to enjoy a fine dining experience in longview, barron’s is an excellent way to start. take time out from the busy day and enjoy a slice of tremendous gourmet food at reasonable prices. and also enjoy a slice of cheesecake. seriously.

a one of a kind in east texas. what a welcome place to find..in the middle of east texas. we drive an hour and a half, to dine at a place, that rivals,establishments in houston, or dallas!

everything on the menu, is fantastic, with service,from an outstanding wait staff. also met my significant other there...will always be a special spot for us.

refreshing and relaxing!. an excellent venue for r&r...crispy chicken on fridays is not your standard fried chicken, rather a real culinary treat. great atmosphere with attentive staff. service is a1...it is not the fast food mecca, but rather the perfect place to relax with your significant other. have paid more for much less.
