poor service and shocking restaurant policy. just returned home frombardel corso in beacon hill. i asked a few questions about the menu and the server was obviously very rushed with her answers. i ordered the romano pizza and didn't realize it came with anchovies. when the pizza arrived, my girlfriend and i each took one bite and set our slices down. it was horribly salty. yes, i understand anchovies are salty, but this pie had an entire salt shaker thrown on top of it. we asked if the pizza could be changed for another pizza. the server pushed back hard stating all ingredients were listed on the menu but eventually agreed to change the pie for another one. second pie ordered was much better but nothing to write home to mom about. when the bill arrived, both pizzas were listed. i questioned why the anchovies salt pie was not removed as none of it was even consumed. she firmly stated it was the restaurants policy not to removed orders unless a mistake was made. i then firmly told the server i'd remove that amount from the bill myself, which i did, and left cash. i also left my name, address, and phone number on back of bill so the owner can call me if he wants more information. i've never eaten at a restaurant where an entree was ordered that i was unhappy with and not had it removed from the bill. horrible service and shocking restaurant policy...but the silver lining...i will never return which means i will never have to eat there again.

i was long overdue to get to beacon hill to trybardel corso, a pleasant neighborhood spot. the main draw is the assortment of wood-fired pizzas, but the small plates, salads, and salumi are also high-quality.

bar del corso you are one of my favorite pizza joints in seattle. fat cuts of mozzarella, tasty salami & sausage, and more flavors make me wanting to come back. side dishes progress you to the main course. don’t forget the housemade meatballs and the ricotta balls. i wish you were a go-to place but that line…makes you very hard to go-to. share this: twitter facebook google like this: like loading... march 2, 2014 in pizza . tags:bardel corso , pizza related

everyone talks about the pizze, but i am here to say, "save room for dessert!!!"  ok, back-up...either get there early or plan to wait a bit, it's worth it.  tell the hostess you can sit at the bar, it's the best seat in the house.  order a cool cocktail or something on tap, start with one of the small plates, my favorites are either the grilled octopus or the manila clams...yum!  there is always a specials board, creative seasonal items that are always a winner, so pick something off that list too.  we always pick the pizze on the specials board, so i have no idea how the other pizze are like, delicious i am sure. here's the deal, don't eat so much so you'll have to skip dessert and a perfect espresso, you will never know what you're missing.  i have never been disappointed with the desserts at bar del corso.  the last dessert i had was the cherry polenta cake...so good!!!  go check it out yourself, maybe i'll see you there.

as a family we have been coming tobardel corso now frequently since their opening last year. we live around the corner so were stoked to have a family comfort food option come to te hill. the food, people and vibe are always spot on when we dine. our 22 month is an active handful and nothing slows him down like a mouth full of the house meatballs. we love the rotating house specials always super filling and fresh for a small plate. the pizzas are delicious right out of the wood oven. for almost 15 years we have been singing the praises of beacon hill waiting for it to be placed on the seattle map as an up and coming neighborhood. now we have a reason, andbardel corso is a big part of the shift.

as a beacon hill resident, i have eagerly anticipated the arrival ofbardel corso. tonight a friend and i had the pleasure of dining there. and let me just say, the anticipation was worth it!
although they were pretty slammed, the hostess was very kind (and darn cute!). once we were seated, the service was pretty steady and friendly. and the food was deeeelicious. we shared a small plate appetizer, followed by a margherita pizza.
all in all, good food and drinks. can't wait for it to slow down a bit so i can become a regular.
