banc sushi

one very bad experience. we had been to this place 5 times previously, mostly on weekends and loved it - in fact, we enjoyed it so much that we recommended it to several other people. unfortunately, we went there tonight (monday) and it was so terrible that we will never return.

we ordered salmon sushi and they brought us salmon puree on top of rice (mixed with mayo). it looked nothing like salmon sushi of course, so we sent it back thinking it was someone else's order. the server then came back and insisted that this is how they make salmon sushi and left it at our table. she was fairly abrupt and dismissive when we said that we have never had sushi like this before and were somewhat confused at what she had brought us. the sushi looked like it was left-over bits of fish and roe that couldn't be used for any other dish.

this experience ruined this restaurant for us and we will not be returning. i have to back track and think of all of the people i recommended this restaurant to over the past few weeks and tell them not to go!

this place has gone downhill. i am not usually one to write these reviews but i went here about a year ago and loved it. i told a lot of people about it.

i went back this past weekend for lunch and although the service was fine, the sushi was sub-par, even for an all you can eat. there was way too much rice in the rolls to start. the tea and miso soup were lukewarm when they came out. and the price, for all this terrible food was nearly $50 for two people after tip. absolutely and unequivically not worth it.

if you do, by some unfortunate accident end up here, try the fried banana and chocolate for dessert. it was the only redeeming feature of the meal.

awful. terrible service, terrible sushi. no refills on my green tea (which the server misunderstood as iced tea to begin with). our empty plates were left on the table the whole meal, avoid.

terible. this is terrible food, i'm certain that if you would ask them if they would eat their food they would run from it. it's not for normal people. the poor quality of the fat used is extremely damaging for your body and everything is the cheapest you could get at the supermarket. the crab imitation is terrible. this is not safe for consumption. we have the longest coastline in the world and we are eating shrimp raised in the exit of the sour of thailand.

love it!. i like the sushi very much, and i think it's a grate deal.
i always come back every to eat there for my thanksgiving supper.

very good!. my wife and i had the lunch buffet yesterday; we ordered mostly the rolled sushi, and also had the miso soup and edamame beans. all were very good, service was quite good as well. for the amount of sushi we had i believe this restaurant offers great value.

to the poster who said the sushi was "warm, a big no-no", yes, you probably ordered from the "fried" section of the menu which is indeed served warm (of course it's warm, it just came out of a fryer - sorry you didn't understand this). there are other varieties of sushi on the menu in the "rolled, spicy roll, hand roll, ..." sections that are all correctly served at room temperature.

banc sushi is very good all you can eat however i would rate it behind sushi kan based on the spicy salmon and salmon roses. although still a great value in my opinion. note these places are only a great value if you have a good appetite. if you are going to eat 2 rolls you need to go somewhere else.

sometimes the sushi is so fresh that the rice is still warm. i love this but sometimes it turns people off. this means that the rice is fresh and that the roll was just rolled! its a good thing but i think some people think it means the sushi has been sitting in the sun.

the menu changed and so did the quality. our sushi was warm. this is a big no-no.

it was very very good but the price point is off by a bit especially if you go with two people, cost around 50 with tip. the service isn't the best, slow at times, and in my opinion the waiters didn't really seem to care about their tables.

great sushi and great option. a bit pricey, but nice waiters and speedy service!

very rude servers , foods was not that great , used to be a very good sushi place i wondered if it s running by the new management.

best ayce so far. i've been to a few all-you-can-eat places in ottawa over the past couple of years and i have to say i was most impressed with banc. don't let the outside appearance fool you, the decor and food quality (for an ayce) is quite good. update: fuji sushi opened not to far away and is as good if not a little better than banc.

best bang for your buck. this is a great all-you-can eat sushi place. just go and you'll see!
there are always plenty of servers that are much more attentive than say sushi kan (baseline). also the rolls come out like lightening, and some how still taste amazing.
the lunch time weekday prices are the best ($12 per person) but the dinner only options are well worth a dinner visit for a bit more ($19 per person).
the atmosphere here is great and its always busy, which is never a bad sign. go and enjoy banc sushi!
