banc sushi

favourite!. my new favourite sushi place in ottawa! great diversity in the menu and great quality.

amazing. banc sushi is the best place to go in ottawa. the outside throws you off and doesn't look the greatest but the food is amazing!

we've been going here for 3 years and we go at least 2-3 times a month. their spicy mayo is amazing. the cheese wontons are a hit with my boyfriend.

the fish was so fresh. it was delicious!

fear factor style. grilled / teriyake item - fail

banc makes some really bad food. all the beef dishes i ordered were barely edible. rolled beef with onion was freezer burned and covered in disgusting sauce (which will forever be known as a$$ sauce). i made the mistake of ordering 3, because i am usually a fan of this dish. one ended up in the napkin, and the other two were smuggled into the bathroom and flushed ...to avoid being charged for not eating them.

dont order the ribs either. i love fat, and eat most of the gristle. but these were gross.

it felt like a fear factor episode. everything i tried from the kitchen was chewed quickly, with eyes closed, and chased with a big gulp of water.

why should i have to eat this garbage to avoid paying more for leftover 'food'

if you order from the grilled menu, go for the grilled mushroom, avoid the rest..it helps mask the horrible flavour of the black sauce they loved putting on their meat.

rolls - disgraceful fail

100% of the rolls ordered the rice was still hot.
the first roll i dipped into my soy sauce fell apart and came unrolled.

on their menu:

spider roll - 4pcs
-soft shell crab roll

oh ..great, not imitation crab stick roll? i will try that!
what it should read is: deep fried crab meat, crab stick, and cucumber.
covered in a$$ sauce.

eel special roll: does not come with avocado .. do not believe their menu. their eel sauce is possibly the base for a$$ sauce. avoid this one too.

i have never had to hide food at an ayce sushi place.
it truly was disgraceful.

sushi - good!
the one saving factor is that their sushi chef actually knows what he is doing, and their fish is actually pretty good.

they have a couple "you have to try this items"
cucumber classic sushi, and the "unique banc wrap"

my night started off very optimistic.
the sushi and sashimi were great.

deep fried butterfly shrimp - very good!

it was all downhill from there.
i left with a horrible taste in my mouth. "honey wonton fry" ? ..just dont.
it's not a good desert.

cheese wonton - order this for desert instead, it was great (and sweet)

their the waitress had abandoned us and stopped coming by after the first refill - so drinking water was no longer an option.

overall, they had a few great dishes and many failures.
if you knew what to avoid and only ordered the good things - it might have been a better experience.

service was poor.

will not be returning. try anywhere else - dont bother with this place.

delicious food, well the half order we received. great service, until we were completely ignored. we say half an hour waiting and gesturing for our remaining items. all we had was two pieces of tuna, a few pieces of rolls, one fried item. didn't get my glass of water. paid, no tip, sadly we will not be making the effort to come back, despite all the positive reviews. we were very disappointed. we sat for nearly an hour until we gave up and just wanted to pay and leave. there was barely anyone there too.

i've eaten at 6 of ottawa's sushi restaurants. banc is number one for all you can eat sushi in my opinion. the staff is great, the sushi is fresh and the restaurant is clean. we were very happy with the variety of maki rolls offered here. the variety is greater than that offered at sushi khan, for example. will definitely return whenever i'm craving sushi!

if you've had sushi寿司 before, and you like sushi. it's a nice place to go!
12.99weekday lunch(14.99 for weekends) it's not the best, but it's good enough for jap food in ottawa

our main stop for sushi in ottawa. this place is nice

service has its ups and downs, usually down when the place is almost empty.
price is fair and good if you can catch the lunch hours.
the food itself is among the top 3 we have tested (bit unsure what place)
as said, the fish is fresh and the mussels got a ok from a sardinian person

we've been going here for a few years now. definitely get my money's worth when i go here. fast service. fresh fish.

we have been coming here for years. i love it. it is a go to spot for us. we like the all you can eat sashimi and the rolls are excellent!

great sushi. i have been going to this sushi place for over 6 months now, and it is always great and fresh sushi. they sometimes mess up an order, but they're small plates (which is nice - more variety). very fast service (amazingly fast!), and the food is really great tasting and sushi is fresh (and i've lived abroad and have been sushi forever).

the prices are a bit high ($20 each - although the same at all the you can eat sushi buffets), as i am a small woman who just can't eat enough to get into my money. we've actually started ordering the takeout platters as they are cheaper and you get more!

have been to sushi kan, this is hands down better.

great ayce sushi!. i used to be a regular at sushi kan, and started exploring the other ayce sushi joints in ottawa. so far, banc sushi is probably one of my favorites.

the service is fine, nothing stellar, the staff is pleasant and polite. i noticed that since it's nowhere near as crowded as sushi kan, you tend to get your orders a lot faster.

however, banc sushi wins a lot of points in my book for it's food. i find the rice really well cooked, the sushi literally melts into your mouth. the fish and avocado are very fresh too. also, the quality of the tempura is a lot better than other places.

banc sushi has definitely became a regular spot for my boyfriend and i whenever we get a craving for some great sushi!

very disappointed. this place used to be my favorite in ottawa, but they have changed in a bad way.
i ordered a sushi combo for take out and waited forever. when i finally opened the package at home, i was shocked. it was totally a different dish, but i was too starving to go back and wait again, so just ate what i got.
what was worse, it was sooo bad. i couldn't call them sushi, they had too much rice with a very thin slice of fish. i would call it onigiri.
as japanese, i hope people don't believe that is real sushi. most sushi restaurants in ottawa are owned by non japanese asians, but you should be able to find better ones.

banc sushi was the worst sushi experience ive ever had. slow service, crappy food and no customer appreciation. i even left in the middle of my meal. i suggest that you save your money and go somewhere else.

don't bother. greasy udon noodles; bland roll. i won't be back.
