reliably good. we often eat lunch here; sometimes have dinner; and once in a while grab martinis and appetizers after a movie. the bar is the best spot for lunch; arrive early to get a booth. all the bartenders are good but if you're lucky, dennis will be on duty. the wine selection is above average, the seafood excellent, especially the oysters and salmon. the service is professional, attentive without hovering. the quality of the food is first-rate, and special requests for a particular dish are readily accommodated. the décor is dark and soothing. the prices are in line with the best restaurants in fort wayne. it's a great place to celebrate a special occasion. jo and marge

great food. the food at baker street is excellent, everything we had at the table was delicious. loved the pretzel bread. my only complaints, and they're minor are the lack of salt and pepper on the tables and water that wasn't cold and had no ice. if you happen to get the table closest to the kitchen entrance like we did you'll be disappointed in the atmosphere and noise level but the rest of the place seemed like it didn't suffer from those problems. overall, we love it and will go back without hesitation.

well it started off good.... i was pretty impressed with this restaurant the first half of my visit. we did not have reservations and the restaurant was full. the hostess suggested we sit at the bar and wait for a table to open. she even came by later to help us snag a newly opened table. what great service. the bartender was also excellent. we tried the crab and gouda dip for an appetizer, which was delicious. we absolutely loved the pretzel bread that came out with our soup and salad. i had ordered the garlic and rosemary lamb chops and was pretty underwhelmed with the dish. the chops were quite bland with no hint of rosemary or garlic. the biggest disappointment was the mushroom "bordelaise sauce". i kid you not it tasted exactly (not kind of....exactly) like a beef gravy made from a cheap dry packet mix. i told my husband and he said his "demi-glace sauce" served with his steak also tasted like it came from a packet. he likened it to the brown gravy served in school lunches. this really turned me off from enjoying my meal, which at $38 was unacceptable.

although the service was really wonderful, the food was incredibly disappointing. my chicken breast was rubber and totally disgusting. although i only asked for a side of sausage, while waiting for my side order, the manager whisked away my plate leaving me empty handed while my date ate alone. by the time my plate returned, (the chicken was once again way overcooked) my date had been done eating for 10 min and i had to leave hungry with my food in a doggybag.

the decor and atmosphere were awesome, i had really high expectations. the food, however, was a huge disappointing. my chicken was leathery and unedible. my pasta was over cooked and underseasoned. skip this one.

never disappointing. i have been to baker street several times and would recommend it anyone. the food and service is always excellent. if a mistake is made, they don't hesitate to make it right, even if your happy with the mistake (bringing out the wrong, but similar, appetizer).

average food, average to below service, steaks are not up to pricing standards... over all nothing to be impressed with. it feels like a corporate chain that hasnt got their act together. ruth's chris and mortons have nothing to fear. cork n cleaver offers a better local feel and coziness. and a much better level of service and food.

a steakhouse that doesn't know how to prepare a steak?. i have visited bakerstreet a handful of times now. i was never particularly wowed, but i was also never disappointed. this past monday ruined any chances of me returning to this horribly overpriced spot.

the first thing that majorly disappointed me was the wine list. it was full of many names i had seen in every walmart i have been to. the only decent red wine on the list was $12 a glass. granted, it was a decent wine, but hardly worth the cost. i also watched my wine sit at the bar for several minutes waiting for my server, erica, to actually bring it over to me.

the best food of the evening were the asian chicken wings. the wings were decently sized and plentiful per order. the asian sauce had a little bit of a kick, but nothing too unbearable. a side of the sauce was also served with the wings. at $11, this was certainly a much better deal than my glass of wine.

another big disappointment was that i was given the choice between a house salad or soup of the day with my steak. i wished that the french onion soup or a smaller version of their caesar salad were available instead. i went with the potato and chive soup. it had a decent flavor, but reminded me slightly of sour cream and onion potato chips. the soup was very salty. the potatoes were almost completely pureed, which gave it the texture of slightly lumpy watered-down mashed potatoes. it was way below what i was expecting. i was, however, glad that the soup was so filling, because the main course was so disappointing that i left without eating it.

since i was craving a steak, i chose the 8 ounce filet cabernet. when my steak arrived i noticed two things immediately. there was an overwhelming heaping pile of roasted shallot cabernet butter on top. the steak also seemed much darker than what i had imagined. i attributed the darker color to the pepper crust, so i cut in and took my first bite. there were many flaws with what i tried. the cabernet butter was extremely bland. the steak itself simply tasted like burnt pepper. i ordered it medium rare and it was served to me almost well-done. i tried to get the attention of my server, which did no good. one of my dinner guests eventually flagged the bartender over. he took the steak away, saying a new one would be promptly served. a manager came over, middle aged, short hair, extremely unfriendly, and actually told the two gentlemen that i was with to "hold off on eating their food until the steak was corrected." since they were being respectful to me they put down their forks. the manager also tried to blame this piece of jerky on a server error, stating that the server had written down "medium" as my chosen temperature. 15-20 minutes later a new steak arrived. this one was also covered in an unappealing pile of cabernet butter. i cut into the steak to discover that this steak was not even rare, barely seared on the outside. i sent it back. 15-20 minutes later another steak arrived, once again barely even seared and beyond rare on the inside. i attribute this to one of two things, either the kitchen was offended that i sent the first steak back or they simply do not know how to prepare a steak.

at this point, i told my joiners to go ahead with their meal. i felt terrible that the two of them were being polite enough to wait for me to eat with them, and that never got to happen. i watched them eat, trying to put on a smile and just drink my wine. the manager presented me with a gift card, saying "i want you to come back." saying she wants me to come back and that actually happening are two different things. at $31, i can certainly find a better steak in this town, and a kitchen that will be more than happy and educated enough to prepare it exactly to my liking.

quality of food was great however if ordering specials you better ask price. ribeye special was 6 oz more than the standard menu ribeye but almost twice the price. $44 for steak on the bone, what?
