very tasty tacos and tostadas!! i had the chicken mole taco and chicken chorizo tostada. both had great flavor and weren't messy at all. very reasonably priced food and drinks. they were playing an old western movie on the the two tv's in the bar area which added to the rustic ambiance. i will probably eat there again on my week long visit to cincinnati.. highly recommended!! do it!!

taco love. love this place. bakersfield is the first restaurant that showed me and my fiance how good tacos really can be. their ingredients are so fresh. the corn tortillas are so good. the atmosphere is cool and swank. it's just a fun place to go to every time.

howard hawks'€™ classic western "rio bravo" played on flat screen tvs and a later johnny cash album played.  the bakersfield sound came to prominence in the ‘60s because of buck owens’ and merle haggard’s pedal steel guitar centered c&w sound. it’s also the hometown of korn, though the restaurant leans towards country, rather than nü metal.

love!. got there around 4:30 on a weekday and the place filled up quickly after. small food menu, but absolutely delish. the guac and chips by themselves are reason enough to go back. pastor and fish tacos with some margaritas from mason jars to compliment the theme (with a black and white western playing on the tvs behind the bar!) heard the wait is super long on for dinner and on the weekends, but it's worth it!

we decided to head to my favorite mexican spot in the nati “bakersfield otr” they were having their 2nd annual “bucks badass bash” so tequila shots, pbr boots and margarita’s it was… i brought out the whole crew with me including professional boxer aaron pryor jr. (the son of the hall of fame boxing and cincinnati legend aaron “the hawk” pryor) also had professional mma fighter josh snow along with a couple of city workers and local media members and a crazy puerto rican to help translate this one for us… the service and drinks at the bar are always on-point that’s why i like bakersfield they get it. we had a blast as you can see… drinks were flowing, tacos were rocking straight big ass kid style! plain with cheese… and i was mixing up the margarita’s… life was good and oh yea they had a party ou

easily the most over-hyped restaurant in town.

very busy spot but the food was good. we really enjoyed the short rib torta. i was excited to try the margarita but was actually a little disappointed. reminded me of store bought margarita mix. even though they were busy we received food fairly quickly.

bakersfield is a hip spot with delicious tacos and tequila. it was featured on diners, drive-ins and dives, and that always makes me curious to check it out.we were seated right near the open wall that spills out onto the sidewalk. and even though it was rainy, it was neat to get the fresh air and have this sort of indoor-outdoor dining experience.we went simple with queso, and i got a taco.the queso was tasty - pretty creamy and a little bit of heat.and my taco was the short rib: braised short rib, queso fresco, crema, white onion, radish, cilantro. it was very good. i almost wish i would have tried more tacos - there just wasn't room in my belly. do you have a favorite here?

delicious tacos! the pork belly, chicken and fish tacos were delish. the chicken tostadas are big and can feed 2 or if your really hungry? the queso and guacamole are amazing starters! what an amazing manager checking on each table.

bakersfield is a taqueria which is gradually expanding in all directions from it’s cincinnati epicentre. also focusing on mexican food, the booze menu is expansive, not only including traditional tequila but also whisky from the neighbouring state of kentucky. in fact, i was there on a monday night which meant i could get a shot of bulleit for $3. add a $2 boot of pbr and i’m two thirds of my way to a george thorogood song for $5. i felt bad to the bone. as for kibbles, the guacamole at bakersfield was fresh and chunky (which i’m sure is cincinnati style) and aggressively seasoned with garlic which was paired nicely with one of the best (and spicy margaritas) i’ve had in a while.

as mentioned, the foundation of the bakersfield menu is the taco and there are almost 10 to choose from. they pride themselves on making their own tortillas and ironically, that was the weakest part. i felt they tasted a little raw as if they were only fried on one side. they were nicely presented on a large tray with abundant fillings at a reasonable price point of $3-4 each. the pork belly pastor were a good representation and the spicy cochinita pibil and huitlacoche tacos were quite unique.

absolutely love the queso and guacamole.  the queso is one of a kind.  i enjoy the tacos but would say they're my favorite (i prefer nada) due to the corn tortillas.  i wish they offered a flour tortilla option also.  the pollo rojo tacos and the short rib tacos are the ones i typically order.  recently my boyfriend and i went and ordered the willie salad and the johnny salad looking for a lighter option as we tend to eat too much queso if we order tacos as well.  when the salads came they looked and tasted almost identical.  although they were huge, we weren't thrilled with the flavor. the draft beers are also served in a cowboy boot glass while the margaritas are served in mason jars.  the margaritas are only on the rocks, which i'm not a huge fan of.

i am a huge fan of mexican food. this place was awesome. you can mix and match tacos for $3-$4 each. we got queso dip unlike any other queso i've ever had. salsa verde was awesome. definitely going back

a hot, rising chain of taco bars with locations in several cities, bakersfield is a trendy bar that finds itself in the hippest part of town. you’re almost certain to have a significant wait to dine at bakersfield, but the food, i think is worth a try.

very crowded/popular and very noisy.

the focus here is tiny 3-bite tacos going for 3 to 4 dollars each, and while they are decently good i (and i seem to be in a minority here) have a hard time paying that much for such a small amount of food.   strangely enough, though, we have a bunch of eateries popping up all over the city over the last couple of years offering that same thing and doing well for themselves, so i cant fault them for it.  parking is hard to find and will cost you when you do find it.

update 20151013: had the pork belly el pastor taco here today and it was one of the best things i have eaten in months.  its still a three bite affair for 4 dollars, which borders on outrageous, but i do believe i will be treating myself to one of these someday soon, price be damned
