fake. great location, but the place seems fake. fake dive bar ambiance, fake loud noise, fake food, fake bartenders. it will thrive by location alone. this is for people that don't want to really go to a honkytonk bar, but want to pretend they have.

visited recently for dinner. can't complain about the prices at the end of the day, especially drinking $2 pbr drafts, but i thought it was just a tad overrated. coming back from a trip to austin recently, these tacos paled in comparison to the least tasty street taco i had there. the chips and guac....meh. not bad but not worth writing home about. queso is a little different. i didn't like but others in our party did.
the place was packed and as others stated, it is incredibly loud. i'm in my 30's now and prefer to actually be able to converse with people rather than shout at them for dinner.
would absolutely come here for a happy hour but that's it.

my review is based on the food, which i thought was terrible. tacos were bland and overpriced and what's up with the queso??? on the other hand, i really enjoyed the margaritas and had fun hanging out. hip and popular place so will probably be back, but not for the food.

everything is too perfect. it’s trying to feel like an authentic mexican bar, but it can’t come close. it’s too clean. now, is that a bad thing? well, no it’s not. except when that concept is transferred to the food. i have a problem with it. i’m not talking about food that is not clean. the food here is fresh. it is prepared well, but it lacks any diversity.

its incredibly dark inside. i went to hangout with a few friends and we had to scream to talk. so loud inside. the seating was uncomfortable. they do not have backrests. the food is not so great. if you wanna have "not mexican" food, sit in uncomfortable seats in a dark ambience. i would recommend this place.

on the first night, the first thing i noticed was the noise. seriously, one of the loudest restaurants i can remember. i mean, the place is obviously popular, but it also is just really, really, loud.

this review is strictly based on food. it's probably good to mention that i'm from texas.. so i eat tex-mex every day of my life, and real mexican food about once or twice a week. everyone in texas knows that you don't eat mexican food in any other state, however sometimes you're away from home for 2 days and you just need it! the 3rd star is only because i thought the fish taco was pretty good. the queso is not queso. it's like we're hard stringy melted cheese. what the crap is that? it's like they dumped shredded cheese in a skillet and stirred it around. salsas were gross. mole taco was gross. maybe if you don't live in the south your standards might not be as high and you'll like it? but i prepared myself for bad, and i got worse. if you're going to get food, fish tacos.

it was being on vacation.. bakersfield is so very different than most places in indianapolis. the wait staff and manager were friendly, trained and informed. the atmosphere was fun but not to young to throw this 60 + couple off. the menu was different and the food very good. the patio area is very clever and where the day a tiny bit cooler - we would have sat out there.
as we left bakersfield i told my husband that i felt like i had been on a mini vacation! heck, we finally figured out the parking meters too. get day!

if i could give 0 stars i would. they told us we could come in with our service animal to the patio but it would be a 45 min wait. when our turn came, we were refused seating after the manager loudly and publicly (not to mention illegally) asked us what kind of disability it was for. they were rude, illegally asked us for disability information, and wasted an hour which we could have spent at another place. do not waste your time or money in this horrible place that isn’t even authentically mexican. i will be submitting an ada complaint against this business.

had never enjoyed bakersfield prior to my son recommending it during a recent visit to mass ave. he gave my wife and a “heads up” on how good the mexican (some say texmex) food is at bakersfield, regardless of how it’s labeled, he was so right. forget about your usual south of the border restaurants, and there’s a ton of them. the food and drink selections at bakersfield are prepared in a manner that’s a cut above all the rest. friendly, prompt staff top the experience off. i’ve heard a rumor that they’re considering opening a north side indianapolis location - sure hope so as that will make our stops to enjoy bakersfield even more frequent. great place!!

i liked it. good mexican cuisine with a flair. however, i do think the tacos are overpriced. they're quite delicious and flavorful, but small and something you will not fill up on unless you eat 3-4. great place to go with friends for drinks and sharing plates. haven't tried anything i didn't like.

love this place!. the food is good and fresh. the salsa and sauce are unique. i constantly crave the tacos. only con is noise level. nothing absorbs the sound so people yell to be heard.

this place is hit or miss with me. it can get easily crowded, and is very much a "hipster bar". with that being said, i enjoy going during non-peak times. it's great for a margarita on a sunday afternoon when things are less crowded and less chaotic. to me, their food comes in small, overpriced, portions. so i typically eat before i go. but definitely a good place to hang out and grab some drinks!
