babbo's spaghetteria

food is awesome, portions are insanely large, and price is very reasonable. this is what resteraunt italian should taste like. just simple fresh food with no frills. outstanding. try sugo's in frontenac as well....same owner.

food is good. attitude of staff is bad. had a piece of wire in my meatball. they exchanged my meal but said nothing to me about it. not even "sorry about the wire in your food" or how 'bout a free cracker for your almost broken teeth". really??? no visit from the manager-nothing not sure i'd go back due to the arrogance. showed up at 5:15 with no one in the restaurant and they wouldn't seat us until our entire party arrived! empty! really???? did like the food though. except the wire.

traveling through the area we stopped here for dinner and enjoyed our meal. the menu was not as large as i thought, but we ordered the the house lasagna - which was amazing, the chicken fettuccine alfredo and a pizza - my other favorite. the pizza had a thin crust, great cheese and fresh toppings. over all, cute setting for a date night, dinner with friends or family. had my 6 year old with me but did not get a kids menu.

asked for a table away from a party with kids. they provided this and the sat the only parties with kids on either side of us. this did not make me happy.
fettuccini was very good. the pizza was fair. they put onions in all their red sauces.
i don't know how to found fresh basil with no flavor at all.

3rd time, still impressed. this is our third visit. delicious food, great service(sarah). all around wonderful experience. i just love this place.

yummy. second visit and just as pleased. stephanie was a great server, seating was fast. risotto delish, lasagna was amazing. can't wait to come back.

lots of choices for italian food in the valley, but babbo's is the most authentic with large portions and decent prices.

90&?. how does this place have a 90% rating from reviewers? they must have eaten at a different babbo's spaghetteria than the one where i ate on sunday (april 13). i liked the atmosphere and had high hopes when i went in. but the menu is surprisingly limited; i'm not sure if that's because it was a sunday or if they have so few appetizers, salads, and entrees every day. i had the caesar salad and lasagna, which the server recommended as "really good." the salad was a pretty ordinary caesar, the flavor wasn't bad, although there was too much dressing. but the lasagna was not what i expected. too much meat, not enough noodles and cheese, and the sauce was not rich and thick as is typically served with lasagna (or other traditional pasta dishes), but was thinner and not as flavorful. the portion was large, but if the dish isn't that good, all you have is more of something you don't like. i wouldn't go back.

i just ate the largest lasagna in recorded history...and enjoyed every last bite. good salad (del pietro) and a history of dining that has served generations of st. louisians. service was grand & attentive. i'll be back for sure!

terrible experience. i have never written a review about a restaurant or anything else but after my experience last night at babbo's i felt strongly enough to write this review. my family and i planned to meet three other family members at babbo's after hearing about it from a friend. when my wife, two sons, father and i arrived we were told we could not be seated because the rest of out party was not present. despite the fact there were more open tables than occupied tables we stood in the doorway to the restaurant as a few other parties came and went. it was cold and uncomfortable, especially for my 84 year old father who has difficulty standing because of neuropathy in his legs. my wife finally led him to a nearby table to sit before his legs gave out. my two sons sat on the edge of some wood in the doorway. we asked to speak to the manager after being told again we could not be seated until our entire party had arrived. we thought it was odd they would have to pull two tables together for the five of us as well as the full party of eight we were expecting. the manager finally arrived and was very curt. she stated it was the policy of the restaurant not to seat guests until the entire party was present. we asked why seating five at two tables was any different than seating eight and she simply said that was there policy. i could possibly understand not seating two people of a party of eight but not five. although an obviously elderly, frail man should be seated in any circumstance. she obviously has little to no experience in restaurant management or customer service. at that point i decided we were leaving. i don't think i have ever left a restaurant for that reason. it took a few minutes to get my father out of the chair and get his coat and gloves on. we were stared at the entire time. if this is the way a "family" restaurant is run, i surely do not want to be in their family. the restaurant lost out on a group of eight who frequently dines out and leaves good tips. we will never return and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. there are far too many restaurants in saint louis with great food and great service to be subjected to this type of behavior. i expect better service at a fast food restaurant.

great food!. i have eaten at babbo's several times and the food is awesome! the chicken spedini, and spaghetti and meatballs are excellent. my husband got the lasagna and loved it, there was a huge piece. the salads are very good also. our service has always been good. the waiting area is non-existent and they will not seat you unless the whole party is there, weird? they could really use a larger space.

babbo's- not for vegans!. we ate at babbo's tonight, great service, not vegan friendly!!! very small wine pour.

nice little restaurant!. me and the missus were here last night, in part due to the excellent reviews on this site. at 5:30, on a saturday, the place was packed. standing room only packed, about a hundred customers. the service was fast, and efficient. we eat out a lot, and we watched the staff move and operate like a well-oiled machine. not in any particular rush to "churn" the guests, but just very efficient. the food came out hot, and excellent. i had a pizza, for $10, that was huge, with four toppings. best value anywhere for pizza. the missus had a chicken alfredo, which was also excellent, with large chunks of garlic. her sauce was a little thin, but still very good. we will be going back here soon, to try some of the other dishes. from what we could see, all portions sizes were very large, and with moderate prices, this place may well become our "go to" place for italian.

service. we had 5 of the 6 people there for dinner - our last friend was working late. they refused to seat us until the 6th person arrived - when then said we would like a table for 5 - the whining was incredible! the manager and her hostess lack professionalism. their policy will cost them many good customers, i know we will never be back either for personal gatherings or business dinners. the great thing about st. louis is there are so many really wonderful places to eat that this one won't be missed.

great food!. some friends first took us to babbo's and we are so thankful they did! great food. great service. babbo's has become one of our favorite places for italian food, and around here, that's a high compliment!

what a terrible first impression.  my wife and i drove 25 minutes to meet some friends and were excited to check this place out.  walked through the door and even though there were 11 tables open and no line, we were told that we had to wait until our whole party got there- oh yea they don't take reservations.  so we decided to grab a glass of wine, no bar by they way.  then when we got the pour, it looks like they probably get 8 glasses out of a bottle.  very small.  i did kindly speak with the manager who informed me they were all the owner's rules and she couldn't do anything.  leaving now, such a shame. i don't even want to stay for dinner.  we chose this place for the good reviews but are leaving for the crap service.
