arnold's bar & grill

food has gone downhill. unbelievable, this use to be one of my favorite places to go but in the past several years when i've gone each time it progressively continue to disappoint. most recently i went with a friend had the shrimp salad-shrimp had a bad taste, avocados were brown just an awful experience, the greek spaghetti portion size was small and toppings were minimal. i don't think i'll ever go back.

ok... but could have been better. went there for dinner monday evening. waitress was unaware of any happy hour specials and came back with them: limited $2 off appetizers, $4 house wine [5 oz] normally $4.50 - not much of a deal. oriental salad was very strange. basically a satay sauce (very thick... too thick). meatball sub was good, but small for the price. interesting old place, booth lighting poor. lots of potential, but not achieved.

cincinnati classic #1. whenever family or friends come into town for the first time there are several stops on my tour of the city. fountain square, sawyer point/serp wall, mt. adams, eden park/krohn out to ault park via the parkway and back. at the end of the loop we always stop at arnold's and weather permitting sit in the courtyard. arnold's embodies classic cincinnati, it's german heritage while being oddly hip at the same time. ask to sit next to the bath tub if you can't sit outside.

arnold's is a (real) beer drinker's paradise. arnold's "old" menu which includes pasta dishes (big fan) and sandwiches is always consistent. unfortunately if you catch the kitchen on a busy or bad night it can be hit or miss (which seems to be a common problem with many established restaurants). especially if you try some of the newer offerings don't hesitate to send it back or order something different if not up to your liking. service is very casual but always friendly and helpful. ask for a recommendation and enjoy!

a must see place. if you want to go somewhere a bit offbeat, different and fun this is the place. from days of old in cincinnati. nice, friendly with a bit small bar area, but beyond that nothing negative. good food selections, including veg and they have live entertainment, blues, jazz, etc. many evenins with no cover.

arnold's is really close to where i work (take note, stalkers!) so you would think that i would eat there all the time. but i don't. why? well for a long time, whenever i went there, it was not good. yes, it was cheap (they had a $3.95 or $4.95 or somethi

first time here was 30 years ago. jim tarbell was the new owner of arnold's when i first went there with my cincinnati, born & bred, german- american boyfriend. it's still one of the most unique & enjoyable dining experiences in cincinnati. the food is wonderful & eclectic. the courtyard in the summer is one of the most romantic dining venues i've been too in the states. it's wonderful day or night.

if walls could talk, arnold’s would have quite a lot to say. built in 1848, the building originally housed a barbershop, while the building next door was a feed store with a stable and carriage house in between. in 1861 simon arnold opened a tavern in the

arnolds. love it.. i love arnolds for the crowd, the fantastic bartenders, and the historic factor. check out the bathtub upstairs! as a restaurant, it's not stellar, but it's unbeatable for its authentic cincinnati character, live music in the courtyard, and a good drink.

classic 1800s biergarten. best summer under the stars ambiance in town -- great eclectic live entertainment, sweet little courtyard in heart of downtown. stick to drinks, skip mediocre food.
