armsby abbey calls itself a "boutique beer bar," but the interior looks in some way like a dive bar, with its dimly lit room that has exposed pipes along the high ceiling, exposed brick walls, and a wooden floor that has its share of nicks and scratches. high-top tables run along the brick wall to the left, while a cozy bar area that is comfortable enough for dining is to the right. a narrow bar rail that acts as a partition between the tables and the bar area sits in the middle of the room, and it has stools set up for folks who might not want to feel like standing. more seating can be found by the front windows, and a blackboar

this place is seriously good. the atmosphere is low key, the staff pleads and knowledgeable, the food is fresh and local, and the beer selection inspired.

horribly overrated. food is barely cooked barely edible extremely overpriced mess. parking sucks, interior is cramped and poorly lit. you're better off eating at home.

a real gem in worcester fast friendly service--they even were accommodating of our children. an interesting farm to table local (new england) menu and a fine beer selection.

so first off, i love that they don't serve bud lite or any of that other swill. keep it craft. the mediterranean slate and poutine were excellent. will definitely be back!

food is awesome but it's a little too dark in there and the music too loud. i would lighten up and tone down. other than that it's a good as anything in boston!

local farm to fork- doing it well. this is our favorite pre-show hangout, we always try to get into worcester a few hours before show time to allow enough time for a stop at the abbey. my current favorite: marcona almonds freshly roasted and salted, housemade hummus and pita and whatever beer or ale is recommended- there are so many on tap and i have never gotten one that disappointed. the local cheese selection is expansive, you can order a few with breads, i really like the hummus though.

definitely hit or miss. generally the food is outstanding. during busy brunch hours, however, you might find the food slightly subpar. brought the brother-in-law one weekend and was thoroughly embarrassed about the wait time and tiny portions. but when it's good, it is really good. best mac n cheese anywhere. amazing beer selection. despite its occasional flaws, still my favorite restaurant in worcester.

poor attitude, slow service, ok food. the place was way understaffed and the hostess seemed to be very overwhelmed. we were told 30 mins for a table and after 60 mins when we inquired about our table she snapped us saying "there's only one of me you know". really? i think she's in the wrong line of work. after waiting an hour we were finally seated and the delays continued. our waitress was pleasant enough but kept saying how busy she was because they "had a large party" in the back. fine we get it. busy saturday night. we finally ordered and it took literally 45 mins for our cheese platter to come out. a few pieces of cheese, a few nuts and a few pieces of bread. way too small and way over priced (see pic) but we got a good chuckle over it. i will say the roast pork sandwiches (when they finally came) were very good but then again this is about 2 hours after we arrived so i suspect shoe leather would have tasted good at that point. armesby abbey is one of those establishments that seems to have a high sense of entitlement and no strive for excellence. they could have cared less about making people wait and made no effort to accommodate. there's just too many choices in the area (other restaurants that make genuine effort to please) to put up with it. my recommendation, stay away.

unusual dishes and beer. i stopped by with three friends because a chef in the area suggested this place. i love the dark wooden panel and overall set up of the bar. started off with drinks and a very interesting drink selection from beers to cocktails. but don't ask for coca-cola or pepsi. they serve worcester's own polar beverages. while my less adventurous companions all ordered up the decadent mac and cheese, i went with the mediterranean slate. the slate was a perfect appetizer because of the variety on it. the downside to the slate was the olive oil the rolls off and on to the table. the restaurant was very clean. the waitress addressed the empty glasses quickly and we got a good explanation of what is available on draft. just hard to see the beer list on the wall when you are sitting right under it.

i was there tonight for the first time with three friends. the concept of having all local and natural products is great, the food was mediocre at best and the service left much to be desired. we ordered a smoky peach margarita - unfortunately the only peach in this margarita was the slice of fruit hanging on the rim of the glass. it literally tasted like liquid pork fat. when we politely called the server over and told her of our dissatisfaction with the drink and inquired if we could have it swapped out for another she advised that she wasn't sure if that could be done. another woman then came over and advised that what we were tasting was the smoky flavor which is what they are going for. the long and the short is that they swapped the drink out for another then charged us for both at the end and stated it wasn'ttheir fault we didn't like the first thing we ordered. i have been to many bars and restaurants much more upscale than this and have never encountered this situation. the poor business sense and horrendous customer service was frankly disappointing and embarrassing. i would not visit this establishment again nor would i recommend it to anyone else. the food is nothing that i cannot make myself or obtain elsewhere and i can get an $11 dollar drink that i actually enjoy anywhere. thanks armsby staff for a not so pleasant experience.

this place held scant resemblance to my two favorite abbeys, namely westminster and the one from sound of music, but it did have sangria and pork belly on the menu, so i wasn’t complaining.
