great farm to table food. i went with a group of people from work, we ended up getting the sausage pizza, potato pizza, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, and pulled pork. the only thing that wasn't just extremely delicious was the grilled cheese. the toast was burnt and almost completely black.

however, the pizzas had a delicious thin crust and a lot of unique ingredients that made them great. the sausage pizza had slices of cooked apples which added a hint of sweetness to them which really complimented the rest of the flavor. the potato pizza was probably the best item we had, it came with chives and light cheeses. the mac and cheese was heavy but delicious. it was topped with bread crumbs and had lots of different mixed cheese in it. the pulled pork is obviously a northeastern pulled pork. i am from the south and this was a lot different than what i was used to. however, it was still very very good, tender, and juicy.

the highlight of the evening though was the environment and the beer. there were about 40 different craft beers that apparently change daily. the wait person was very knowledgeable and ready to recommend beers to us based on what other beers we typically like. there was no pretentiousness about knowing craft beers. we tried a lot of different beers, and i can't necessarily say they were all great, but most of them were very good.

we were drawn here by an ad in worcester living that we picked up at the train station.  the ad said that beer advocate rated the armsby abbey the "#5 best place in the world to have a pint".  hmmm, well we had to check that out! after a short walk from the train station we found the packed armsby.  we crowded into a table and, lucky for us, we got a table to ourselves.  because of limited space the armsby will have guests share tables when necessary (that will change by december with a new remodel)--but that would have been ok, reminded me of paris and being packed into tables with natives in small restaurants. it was delicious!

interesting "farm to table" concept - never seen that style in a brewpup before! great selection of eclectic brews, and different, tasty brunch items. brunch selection somewhat limited, and portions somewhat small, but the food quality was high. they are supposedly expanding in the next few months with a bigger kitchen and more table space. service was good.

delicious!. went last night with my husband. sat at the bar and had the best food i've had in a while at a restaurant. potato fennel soup and homemade mac n' cheese- amazing. my husband had the jerk chicken sandwich- the hottest he's ever had. loved it! knowledgeable and friendly staff (long dark haired bartender was phenominal) will keep us coming back for more- never mind the beer selection! 5 stars!! one of the best dining experiences i've had in worcester.

coolest bar in town. love the beer selection and menu. grilled cheese is awesome. service if seated at the bar is good, not so much elsewhere.

our server was excellent. despite the packed house and the plates flying out of the kitchen left and right, she somehow perfectly timed it so our beers arrived at the table one beat before our entrees. we were impressed.

eat elsewhere, but come here for drinks. i went here on the recommendation from a friend, and was told to expect amazing food, mac and cheese specifically, and a great beer selection. although their beer selection was pretty good, the beers that made it onto the menu were top notch. however, their food was mediocre, and the service left me feeling like i was being served by a waitress who didn't care about getting tipped.

there were three of us, and we all had the mac and cheese (as the recommendation from our friend was that this place had the best mac and cheese anywhere), and frankly, it was super bland.

the menu described it as "our secret recipe featuring an assortment of our featured artisan cheeses topped with our homemade rustic breadcrumbs" and what we got was something that tasted like a bowl of velveta which they dressed up with one additional type of cheese in order to make it's recipe qualify as secret, and covered it with croutons. the cheese was grainy, almost as if the sauce had curdled from being heated too quickly, and the crutons left much to be desired. actual bread crumbs would have allowed the person enjoying the meal to stir them in, and cut the creamy texture with something more substantial.

i'm not saying was outright bad, as it was certainly edible. it just reminded me of caterer's food, where they were cooking for so many people they wanted to make sure no one of was offended. i was just saddened by the fact that this meal was just not something i couldn't make at home...easily, and certainly not worth $10 for the portion size.

their beer selection, however, did work to overcome the shortcomings in the food and service. their selection of trappist monk ales, belgian triples and quads, and other imported beers was amazing. before the meal, i had a la fin du monde brewed by unibroue in canada, and it was a very good , while a bit simple belgian triple. it was clean and crisp, not quite as smooth or creamy as many belgian triples, all in all an easy to drink very satisfying beer.

with our dressed up velveta, i opted to try their recommendation, the red's rye by founders brewing company in michigan. it was full bodied and bitter enough to cut through anything. this beer was a good pairing to a creamy dish like mac and cheese, but it would have gone equally well with another rich creamy dish. the bitterness and strong flavor really cut through the cheese with no problem at all. i think this would be difficult to drink one after another, but as a single beer with a meal, no problem.

after dinner, i opted to try a koningshoeven quad, brewed by the brouwerij de koningshoeven in the netherlands and it was amazing, much more complex than many other quads i've tried. by far the best beer of the night for me. it was a rich and creamy dark red, with a very complex flavor which started with a very earthy malted flavor, slipping in subtle notes of dark berries and other fruits, and as each sip was finished you were left with an almost peppery finish of spices. amazingly light and drinkable, especially for the very high alcohol content. this is a beer you can get twisted off of without realizing it.

all in all, for armsby abbey in worcester, i say eat somewhere else, as worcester is full of great restaurants, but come here for their masterfully selected choice of beers.

armsby abbey is a smallish bar/restaurant serving numerous craft beers, artisan cheeses, and other delicious eats. they try to get as much local produce and other products when possible. many of the beers and cheeses were also from all around new england.

wahoo! gf beer!. the food selection sounds wonderful, especially the slates that they offer. however, if you're gf, then eat dinner beforehand and come later for the cider or beer. the green's trippel gluten free beer is pricey, but for those of you who miss a good beer as much as i, it's worth every cent. i have many reasons to go to worcester, but i'd return to worcester just to go to armsby abbey.

the food is good and the drinks appear uniquely delicious. if you have an adventerous pallette and patience, you'll enjoy the abbey. personally, i found the service to, while pleasant, move as slow as molasses.
