aloft was an incredible experience. the food and it's presentation is outstanding and delicious, with the service being relaxed and super friendly. you get a fantastic selection of endless courses in the set menu, and the price is extremely fair. they are also extremely catering to allergies and dietary requirements. upon saying that i don't eat red meat the waitress gave me a specialized pescatarian menu and still allowed my dad to have the normal meat set menu! cannot wait to go back

aloft was definitely the culinary highlight of our trip to tasmania.

the restaurant sits right at the end of brooke street pier and despite the stunning views we would have enjoyed in the main part of the restaurant we opted to dine at the kitchen bar and take advantage of the 8 course banquet menu. we were not disappointed.

the space has a seemingly simple design, it’s clean and open, almost verging on clinical with the main feature being the glass wall at the end of the restaurant that boasts breathtaking views of the harbour. the soft lighting warms the venue but what is really smart is that all lights are hidden or covered so they don’t reflect in the glass and distract the eye from the view. at the opposite side sits the open kitchen and bar. there is nothing to hide. everything is immaculate.

we were welcomed by the entire team – chefs included! as soon as we were seated the food service began. we started off with roulette peppers… one in ten was meant to be hot. there were four of us seated at the kitchen bar and three out of the four were hot! after our mouths had recovered, dishes after dishes kept coming out. they were perfectly portioned, not too big and not too small. the ingredients were fresh and local and the flavour combinations were spot on. the dishes were personally delivered by the chefs which was refreshing. the pride and excitement each chef had in presenting their dish gave you a greater appreciation of what you were eating. we loved watching the kitchen banter and seeing how the apprentice chefs were trained. we were lucky enough to become guinea pigs and try two additional dishes that weren’t on the menu. i have to give special mention to one, as it really deserves a place on the main menu. it was made by one of the younger chefs and it was black garlic ice cream. it’s something i would never think to order, but it was divine and i’ve been dreaming about it ever since!

although they’ve only been open for six months it was evident that the team has evolved together. the service was seamless. staff clearly love working there and that really took the customer experience to the next level. i am excited to see what is next for this young, talented team as they have totally nailed their first venture. our experience was impeccable. huge thanks to the entire team for giving us a fantastic night!

my partner and i visited hobart for a week and saw great reviews of this place so decided to visit for a nice dinner.

we were definitely impressed. the interior is lovely and modern with beautiful views and it definitely feels like you are dining in a loft which was unique to any other dining experience i've had.

the sashimi was so fresh and such a tasty dish although wasn't really a fan of the pig ears. the highlight of the meal for me was both the fried eggplant and the fish main course dish. tasmanian seafood is delicious.

the dessert was tasty also however all the honeycombe made it too sweet for me, it would have been perfect without it.

service was good, the staff member was very softly spoken yet attentive.

overall, i wouldn't hesitate to come back next time i'm in tassie!

just a very average experience, we waited one hour between the 1st and 2nd courses and we were served cold dumplings. every dish was poor to average. we had an 8:00pm sitting and we ordered the banquet at $85 per person. it was 10pm before we were served something of any substance and by that stage i was suffering from heart burn from the lack of food and the level of acidity from drinking wine and only eating a few nautical oysters, a slice of sashimi and a cold dumpling soaked in vinegar. we suffered through a few more very average dishes before settling the bill early and leaving. i love good food and i travel to go to good restaurants, but this was one of the worst restaurant experiences. .

very disappointing as the food was terrible, particularly the vegetarian dishes. incredibly touristy and not relying on repeat custom. will not be going back. also very over priced for the meal supplied. very disappointing given a birthday celebration.

from the amazing food to the amazing views and outstanding service there is literally only one thing that i would suggest this place needs to improve on and that is the cocktails. every single dish from start to finish was amazing. 110% i would recommend this place and go back in a heartbeat 😊 excellent experience!!!

every dish was beautifully balanced. i mostly loved that every menu item was interesting - the ingredients and flavours making a choice very difficult. this is the main reason that i have this venue 5 stars. friendly and helpful staff.

otherwise:
well this place has one hat that's an australian equivalent of a michelin star but it may not be the best place to go to if ur expecting to see the sunset or are a vegetarian.
the interiors were pretty nice. the side walls were slanted almost like a lazer cannon over looking the water. take pictured before the sun sets. you can't see a thing once it gets dark.
foodwise:
the congee was pretty decent. the tofu dish and the turnip cakes are definitely avoidable. the eggplant tempura dish is definitely what you need to order to see the serving bowls being utilized to the max :)
the funniest part was the wet wipes that were offered just before the tiny chicken wings were served (they may have been the wings of a chicklet :p)
that being said the mint ice cream packs quite a punch and you actually do get to munch on pieces of mint. so yea it may be worth trying out.

food service was fast and food were beautiful! service was ok, the waitress did not seem particularly knowledgeable on the food details, so would help if they explained the dishes better

we got the pork ears, duck, beef tartare and scallops for entrees. definitely recommend the pork ears - they were crispy, juicy and tender and was the highlight of the night. i didn’t particular like the scallops, they were a tad over cooked. the duck was amazing and tender and balanced out with the pickled cucumber, and the tartare was refreshing

mains i tried the sichuan fish fillet and the steak, both were amazingly cooked!

stunning food, inspired interesting and different combinations, perfect service. one note: a couple of the dishes were just too seasoned - a little less salt please.

aloft oh my...

if you had told me i would go to dinner and have an amazing meal consisting of turnips, brussels sprouts, pigs ear with a pinot from flower pot south of hobart, i wouldn’t of believed you.

that’s what happened.

this restaurant quite simply changes your opinion of foods you previously disliked or shunned.

well done all!

if your in town, go here simple as that!!

a getaway trip can’t be complete if there isn’t dinner plans at a hatted restaurant and of course, trusty mr d had made a reservation at aloft for our anniversary dinner and i’m glad he did because it did get quite busy. stepping inside, it was beautiful. set in a glassed restaurant that sits over the water, it was totes romantic. the staff gladly showed us to our table by the window and we chose to do the $80 set menu. the good thing about aloft is there’s set menus for people that eat everything, vegetarian, vegans and pescatarian so there’s something for everyone.

one of my favourite from my trip in hobart. the foods are excellent! pig ears is my favourite, they are great and moorish. we were seated on the corner overlooking the harbour and what a great view! service is also great and attentive.
