fantastic meal

we tried this restaurant based on other reviews and it was fantastic! the food and service were excellent. there was also agreatselection of cocktails. the ambiance and service were spot on, but the food was amazing, freshly prepared and large portions. i would definitely go back when in the area.

this was a top 10 meal in a restaurant in america. i had done my research, i was expecting a good meal, this blew me out of the water. wow, so good,greatatmosphere,greatservice. would come back.

wonderful, spectacular, delicious, everything i could have wanted and more!!. beautiful old building delightfully restored to a modern chic oasis. the atmosphere was dark, exciting, classy, but not stuffy or pretentious. waitstaff were amazing, gavegreatrecommendations on food and beverage choices. we got the pork ropa vieja tacos as an appetizer and they were amazing. i ordered the vaca frita as my entree and everyone loved it! it's not cheap, especially if you're ordering drinks and appetizers, but everything is well worth the price!! i highly recommend---in fact, i'm going to take my future husband there the day after we get married next month!!

very good restaurant,greatmodern cuban. we ordered a number of transitional cuban dishes. very well cone in an updated, modern way. if you like cuban food, do not miss this restaurant. if you just want good food, well prepared at the right price, this is also for you

great service,greatfood. wow! only wish i had not dined alone. dining alone, i only got to eat my own meal. if my hubby had been able to join me, i could have enjoyed his meal, too!

so .... my server janelle was absolutely wonderful. just right with stopping by to make sure i had everything and a spot on recommendation for dessert.

i enjoyed my guacamole appetizer. definitely enough for 2 and the freshly made chips were wonderfully crunchy and just a bit salty. perfect.

i moved on to the duck. perfectly prepared. the duck melted in my mouth. my second reget is that i am in philalphia on business, so i have no fridge for leftovers. unfortunately, i had to leave behind some of that wonderful duck so i could squeeze in a bit of dessert.

the chocolate peanut butter bombe. sigh. melt in your mouth. served with a bit of banana and scoop of ice cream. nicely sized. just enough .... though truth be told, it was big enough to share.

thankfully, i'll return to philadelphia in the fall and i will definitely be dining here again.

starr meets castro. very classy cuban fare withgreatservice. enjoyed chorizo sliders while lady friend tried the truffled guacamole. the sliders were great; she felt the guac was rather average. otherwise, pleasant visit with attentive and obviously experienced staff. we'll be back.

wow!. we decided to try alma after reading the glowing reviews. let me say, spectactular! from the moment you walk in we were treated like first class. our server was perfect. full of knowledge, timely, and agreatdessert recommendation (chocolate cigar). our apps (tuna tartare tacos & empanadas) and entress were flawless( chilean seabass and lechon asado). just truly agreatplace. it was a pleasure to have eaten here. in fact, if it weren't for the fact we had to leave so early the next day we would have been back again!

mojito as a starter!. when at alma de cuba make sure that your start your fine cuban epicurean experience with one of their signature mojitos. actually, i had two before dinner cocktails and i was ever so better because of my action. of course get a designated driver or stay around rittenhouse square for the evening in one of the fine hotels. the thegreatdinner followed and i was a happy camper.

best cuban/latin food in philly. like ceviche? have it at alma where at any given time there are 8 to choose from. the soups are perfect and are served in generous portions. all the food is superb. what is reallygreatabout is that those with an adventurous palate can really enjoy somegreatingredients while their more traditional dining companions have plenty to choose from as well. everyone raves about the chocolate cigar dessert...and rightfully so -- but the tapioca with a guava bar "hermit" is to die for

we recommend alma de cuba, a modern cuban place west of city hall.greatfood runs from olde city against the river through center city along chestnut, walnut and sansom. but we can't take ourselves away from alma de cuba. beautiful, dim atmosphere. delic
