very good restaurant, great modern cuban. we ordered a number of transitional cuban dishes. very well cone in an updated, modern way. if you like cuban food, do not miss this restaurant. if you just want good food, well prepared at the right price, this is also for you

do not skip the ceviches... it'd be a huge huge error in judgement! ps not all available are listed on the menu- ask!

no starr restaurant has blown me away more than alma de cuba. i came here for the first time with a group of girlfriends and we all loved the food. some of the dishes we ordered for main courses were the rum cured duck breast, sea scallops, and the cuban shrimp and grits. since we all tried each other’s dishes, i can attest to the fact that all of the meals were incredibly appetizing and left us sated, especially the heavier shrimp and grits dish. if you want to try more than just the main meals offered here, the sweet plantains are delicious and make you feel as though you’re really eating in cuba. as always, when i went, i left room for dessert and so did my friends, so we tried both the chocolate cigar and the coffee and donuts. both were sweet ends to the night and we ended the meal on a high note.

great service, great food. wow! only wish i had not dined alone. dining alone, i only got to eat my own meal. if my hubby had been able to join me, i could have enjoyed his meal, too!

so .... my server janelle was absolutely wonderful. just right with stopping by to make sure i had everything and a spot on recommendation for dessert.

i enjoyed my guacamole appetizer. definitely enough for 2 and the freshly made chips were wonderfully crunchy and just a bit salty. perfect.

i moved on to the duck. perfectly prepared. the duck melted in my mouth. my second reget is that i am in philalphia on business, so i have no fridge for leftovers. unfortunately, i had to leave behind some of that wonderful duck so i could squeeze in a bit of dessert.

the chocolate peanut butter bombe. sigh. melt in your mouth. served with a bit of banana and scoop of ice cream. nicely sized. just enough .... though truth be told, it was big enough to share.

thankfully, i'll return to philadelphia in the fall and i will definitely be dining here again.

great atmosphere friendly staff excellent drinks try the old fashion if you only want two drinks to feel nice 3 floors men's room is on 3rd so gotta hike up stairs but overall great!!!

alma de cuba has such an ordinary look to it from the outside. one would never have imagined how caliente this place is.

rich chocolate mousse was rolled in soft chocolate almond cake and finished with an alma de cuba paper cigar sticker. the decadent cigar was served with creamy dulce de leche ice cream and cool sugar matches, which were lit by our waiter.

starr meets castro. very classy cuban fare with great service. enjoyed chorizo sliders while lady friend tried the truffled guacamole. the sliders were great; she felt the guac was rather average. otherwise, pleasant visit with attentive and obviously experienced staff. we'll be back.

cool spot. loved the ambiance! food was great, nothing special, but not disappointed. have to get the cuban cigar dessert. dylan was a good waiter. i'd come back.

the restaurant itself is dimly lit, with a touch of cultural accents. it felt very classy – but not like i had to be wearing a fancy dress and heels to fit in.

excellent but pricey. we recently went for the first time. food and service was excellent but the prices on urbanspoon were a little low. $50 a person would be about the minimum that you will get away with.

wow!. we decided to try alma after reading the glowing reviews. let me say, spectactular! from the moment you walk in we were treated like first class. our server was perfect. full of knowledge, timely, and a great dessert recommendation (chocolate cigar). our apps (tuna tartare tacos & empanadas) and entress were flawless( chilean seabass and lechon asado). just truly a great place. it was a pleasure to have eaten here. in fact, if it weren't for the fact we had to leave so early the next day we would have been back again!
