aldino cucina

completely forgettable food, not very good service. i'm not usually a very picky eater, so i'm surprised at myself for writing this review. i'm just very disappointed after having spent so much money.

the waitress seemed bored, and came back to check on us only twice during our entire meal. the bread was okay, not browned on the outside very much and seemed a little undone in the middle.

i've heard you should never order risotto at a restaurant...but i was hungry for it, and i figure the restaurant took themselves seriously so i went for it. the rice was very over cooked...almost to the point of having the texture of gruel, the grains had fallen apart into starchy glop.

that might have been enough to overlook if it had any flavor. there was no aroma of rice left in the grains, and if they used chicken stock..i could not tell, could have been tap water. it was touted as "risotto alla milanese" but the tell-tale golden hue was no where to be seen, and i could not detect the floral aroma of the saffron. the only thing that i could taste at all was unmixed bits of parmigiano reggiano. it did have bits of chicken and mushroom in it, but the chicken was overcooked and had bits of cartilage in it....and the mushrooms tasted like limp bits of mushy button mushroom that had no flavor.

my wife got the ravioli, which was a lot better than mine...but that doesn't say much.

i will definitely not recommend this restaurant for anyone i know.

good f.ood, gaudy interior... the food at aldino is absolutely great. they are consistent with the quality of their dishes, and i have always left satisfied. we try to go at least twice a month, if not more. their prices go up at night, so we tend to visit more during the day. i recommend the veal ravioli or the pasta bella donna!

no stars for service. very disappointed. the food was okay, nothing spectacular.
i was very disappointed in the service. the waiter brought me a salad i did not order. i politely told him that this was not what i ordered. he told me that it was. he then in a very interrogating voice and manner asked, "well what did you order?". he never apologized for his mistake. i will not recommend this restaurant or go back!

great atmosphere, food was good. the restaurant's look and feel is very pleasing. i really liked the atmosphere here. service was very prompt and polite. the food may be a little more expensive than some other italian places, but not much and it was pretty good. i had the ravioli and it tasted great, the portion was bigger than i expected so that was a nice surprise. overall it was a good experience. i can see myself returning at some point and have no qualms recommending.

not great. this place has great decor. but the food is nothing special at all and it is way overpriced. i've been twice and wouldn't go back again.

a very nice place. we have eaten many times at aldino's, since its first location in central park mall. the owner is very friendly, the food is excellent and moderately priced. pasta dishes are large enough to share. the fried calamari is the very best, and is large enough for an entre.

one evening i ordered a pre-dinner old fashioned. it was not prepared properly (most bartenders these days don't know classic cocktails). the owner came over and then worked with the bartender until he got it right. the owner said the bartender had to do it 5 times before it was right.

there is a selection of modestly-priced half-bottles of wine.

that is the kind of place it is.

nice place, but not worth the price. bread was cold, the portions are small but tasty. veal ravioli came to the table with 3 round portions. the strawberry cheesecake was frozen and not creamy at all. the strawberries were icey and tart. not worth the price. you could get much better in san antonio for these prices.
