excellent fallafel, disappointing salads. admittedly this was my first time eating at al salaam and i must say the experience was so-so. the purveyor is a very friendly chap and he makes delicious fallafel, but all-in-all the fallafel salad i ordered was very underwhelming. here's why...
the lettuce (iceberg) looked like it came from a bag and the tomatoes were completely tasteless. to my disappointment, there was a solitary olive in my salad, which for $8.99 should have been twice the size and contained maybe 12 times the amount of olives. also, i'm pretty sure the dressing (ranch, gross) came from a bottle.
while some of the food here seems tasty and well-made, it's very overpriced. a side of hummus, for example, costs $ 8.99 with pita. really dude? $8.99? maybe i'm too used to good middle eastern food, as i recently lived in a part of the states with 4 solid restaurants within a five block radius of each other, but al-salaam can definitely do better.
