great place to go to on a friday morning. my order usually consists of thalipeeth, sabudana khichdi, akki roti, thatte idly and puranpoli. akin to the name of the place the food is a perfect recreation of what one associates to "home food". would highly recommend

im pretty sure i wrote a review for this place but cant seem to find it now 🙄 anyway i had the veg thali which is so different from the normal northie thalis. i loved it! everything is spicy though. and it comes with 3 different types of rotis. the rotis were being rolled out by an aunty, which i really felt added to the authenticity of the taste.
the place is bit tricky to find but gps helps 😂 and lots of parking in front.

i placed the order with clear instructions with less spice but despite that the food was overly spiced and even salad had too many pieces of green chilli. sorry to say but you really need to work on controlling the spices as some can really end up with health complications.

we made a visit to al ghaar restaurant as we were craving some homely veg food. had read about the quaint north kanara style cuisine they served. on our visit we were greeted by raghavendra who explained what was available. we tried their thalipith which was served with ghee, curd and peanut chutney....yum and hearty yet light on the stomach. we also enjoyed the full thali which came with multiple amazing chutneys - the flax seed chutney, the karaka chutney were unique. their green chilly and red chilly thechas were yum and we bought a few boxes home. the thali comes with a variety of rotis, one puranpoli, a curd salad, the famed brinjal curry, the mixed pulses curry and also a rice of the day which was bisibele bhaat when we visited. the roti we enjoyed most was the ragi one...they also had methi roti, rice roti, jowar roti. everything was served with much love and had a unique, simple yet flavorful taste which reminded us of home cooking. the highlight of our meal was the varied puranpolis ...the peanut one was crispy and sweet, the coconut one was flaky and delicious but the best by far was the regular one with loads of ghee. we also tried the moongdal payasam which was yum as well.

the owner mr patil was very polite and explained the history of the cuisine and how they focus on healthy foods made fresh daily. we will definitely visit again to try some of their breakfast items next.

for more detailed reviews, please visit my insta page @ sykoblogger

we wanted to try something different than the usual vegetarian restaurants and ended up at this place

we went in for the high reviews and were having mixed feelings about this place

the staff here raghavendra, was very friendly and helpful and let us try different items they had.

the motto is purely justified....ghar ka swaad

the food is so homely and similar to home cooked food.

the ingredients used are plain simple and pure. no additives

i am so glad we found this place.

overall i would recommend this place, as the price is very pocket friendly, as well as quality of the food is great!!!

do let me know what you have tried from this place and anything that i should try from here.

recommended!!!!

if you are craving for an authentic uttara karnataka homely jolada rotti oota in dubai/sharjah, then this is the right place to be.. they also serve holige, kattin saaru, pundi palya, ragi muddhe, akki rotti, mirchi bajji, badnekaayi palya, etc. for meals.

and, they serve thaalipatt, churmuri soosla, avalakki, paddu, girmit and so many other items, which you would crave being from uttara karnataka.

it’s not just the food you will love here, but the staff and the management, with the love and affection they engage and treat you with, in your homely kannada language, catapults your back to the lanes of uttara karnataka.

that being said all about uttara karnataka ( north karnataka food), it’s a must for others too, who would want to taste authentic karnataka ( i.e., a southern state of india) vegetarian cuisine.

i would love to be there every weekend.

yesterday we went for dinner. we ordered two special and one mini thali. the food was authentic north karnataka style. thalis come with 3 types of roti: jowar roti, akki roti and ragi roti. the most i liked was curd rice, akki roti, jowar roti and the palyas that were served there. also two types of puranpolis were very tasty.

good food.
obattu was good. the thali was good too. i wished they went easy on the chillies, a little spicy for some taste buds. the sprouted sabzi was very average , we should get a choice to replace it with something. rasam, brinjal curry and rest was great

i ordered sambar rice & it said will deliver with sambar chutney and pickle.
i was delivered only rice pickle and some watery curry which can’t be called as lentil soup or sambar. it tasted like turmeric garlic water & offcourse no chutney.. they also sent a papad and shredded salad.
horrible and will never order from there for sure.
