akira sushi hibachi

i wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone! this place is very unsanitary. there was gum under the plate they leave for you to eat on. my friend’s plate was dirty. when i mentioned this to manager he treated us very poorly and accused us of planting the gum. he said he speaks to customers how ever he wants too. the manager was very unprofessional and racist. i work very hard for my money and when i go out to eat i expect to be treated with respect. this is the worst place i have ever been to!!! i will never return!

amazing food and amazing service!! not only was the sushi plated beautifully, it also tasted wonderful. will definitely be dining here again.

fantastic!!! will go back with family very soon. food was excellent and they are great with kids. staff was wonderful and accommodating. can't wait to visit again

update. new owners. i haven’t had a chance to try the new menu yet, but....the fact that they have “all you can eat” sushi tells me that this is not the place for good sushi. leaving my original review in place, but no plan to return. sad.


if you want some of the best sushi available, served by the friendliest staff in town, head to akira. i've never had a meal here that wasn't perfect. just take a look at the pictures- that will tell you everything you need to know. fresh and innovative. great hibachi as well.

bad bad bad service. they bring out our appetizers but didn't even give us plates. didn't see anyone fifteen minute later! you have to ask for everything! fancy place but bad service

very reasonably priced food, hi-end decor. my family and i went to akira for a hibachi lunch on sunday for my birthday. we had chef kenny (he insisted we call him "sexy kenny") and he was great! the lunch hibachi was surprisingly cheap (for hibachi), and, of course, was delicious. we also ordered crab rangoon and the vegetable spring rolls for appetizers, and they were fresh and tasty. even though it was the lunch portion, i still couldn't finish all my food and had leftovers for the next day. i will definitely be returning to try their sushi. the decor is bright and very lush, similar to a fancy french style. the hibachi tables are curved and don't have the giant vent overhead like other places. it makes for a very hi-end, open restaurant. great place to go to celebrate.

best sushi in metairie. we just had the absolute best sushi ever! and its in metairie!! so super fresh, the "crazy dog" roll was so tasty!! this was our 2nd trio there, we had hibachi last time, and it was delicious and the chef was funny and super with the kids!! we will most definitely be back!!

the food is fresh and delicious, ate here hibachi at lunch then went back the next week for dinner. the hibachi lunch was fantastic and the show was the best in town. the sushi was fresh and creative. i will be back!

phenomenal! best hibachi i've ever had hands down.. my boyfriend and i were looking for a place to eat one night. we got to akira at 9:50,,,they close at 10:00. they happily accepted us and put on the whole hibachi show just for us. we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. and the food...let me tell you! i'm not a hibachi fan, the rice is usually too salty, the veggies are not that great, i don't eat steak or chicken, so it's not an ideal eatery for me. i ordered the salmon, and my boyfriend got the filet mignon and shrimp. it was the best shrimp i've had, the fried rice (which the waitress recommended, thankfully) was phenomenal, my salmon was perfect and my guys steak melted in his mouth. do yourself a favor, and check this place out. i've been to several hibachi restaurants, because the kids love the show, and every time i moan and whine(inwardly) about it. it has been 5 days since we went and we are bringing our boy there tonight. the service was excellent and the food was the best. so happy they took us in at 10 mins to close and treated us like stars! ozzie, the chef, was great!

awesome! fun place for hibachi. 5/5. great place for the family. we went saturday for lunch, and the hibachi grill was perfect. entertained the whole family, and the flavors were popping! amazing sirloin and shrimp. they had this mango puree infused sauce that was definitely a masterpiece.

delightful experience. really posh interior: comfortable chairs, interesting decor, clean and modern atmosphere. food was good enough--as good as most any other hibachi place. no big surprises but executed well.

kenny is the man, he did a wonderful job at our table. food was incredible, pricing was reasonable. we recommend the saki bombs!

hibachi party. can't believe how great this place is - walking in and seeing the unearthly decor (and beautiful, extravagant fishtank), not to mention the fresh, modern japanese cuisine, i'd expect much higher prices! in reality, this place is quite a bargain, and the new hibachi chef is hilarious and great. not too salty (which is pretty rare), just tasty! i highly recommend the scallops, and the japanese tea (toasty authentic flavor).
