it's my favorite restaurant in civic! asian fusion but more of japanese. i just can't stop eating especially their bao. also the deconstructed cheesecake they have is to die for. we did the $49pp course meal. also make sure to make a reservation. you can do it online. amazingstaffand good ambiance.

did a road trip to canberra and we walked into akiba at 8pm as it was loud, packed and looked like fun.
it was exactly that- cocktails were great, food was fun, and those vegan laksa xiao long baos were awesome.
price for 3 including heaps of cocktails was approx $70 each. i rated this place a 4/5 not because the food was exceptional but rather as it was a memorable place with top notch ambience, food was easy, drinks were fab andstaffwere funny. great place to take a group of friends or colleagues.

honestly haven’t had food like this in ages. great asian fusion food with incredibly tasty combinations. came here alone and felt really comfortable.staffwere really helpful with the menu too, i can recommend the miso eggplant and smokey potatoes - yum!!

discovered this bar as it was near our hotel and decided to give it a try as it was packed on a tuesday night. thestaffwere attentive and really friendly. recommending the must-try items from our order: kobe skirt, prawn and chicken dumplings and the lychee rose martini.

it’s an australian made japanese restaurant , not the authentic japanese japanese, but the fusion style is quite tempting and creative. personally think it’s not as outstanding as the other sharing mentioned. prefer the smaller cutlery for dessert and not to go at the busiest time like 7pm, been ignored two times when trying to place an order :(, thestaffjust pretend not seeing your hands obviously. however the front desk counter service was excellent.

highly recommend, a very cool hang out place in canberra. parkings right outside the restaurant. bookings got confirmed right away, i had to change and i called up and it was really efficient and easy.staffwere all v friendly. food all came up quickly , v high standard. extensive cocktail and sake list, everything v impressive!! the only comment i would make is just not authentic from the japanese dishes, as the coating was a bit thick for the agedashi tofu!

almost a year since i have been here and food and the ever friendly ambience remains the same. started with prawns and chicken dumplings with momo ice tea and asahi followed by japanese fried chicken and a kickass chocolate based dessert( can’t recall the name though).this place is indeed a winner in canberra sad food environment; the food and drinks are made to perfection and every bite feeds not only your stomach but soul..

we dined at akiba for lunch on a hit and run visit to canberra after seeing some favourable reviews.

we elected to go with the feed me option which consisted of 8 servings made up of a combination of smaller and larger plates and a dessert.

the food is best described as asian fusion and follows on the same path as a number of these types of restaurants that are prevalent in sydney and melbourne. living in melbourne i would compare it to rice paper scissors.

from the menu we had the king fish which was delicious, the prawn fried rice and prawn/chicken dumplings which were serviceable, the pork belly bun which was rich but tasty, the kimchi pancake which was unusual but ok the beef short rib which was a bit bland and a disappointment and the chinese broccoli which was ok. we also had the tofu dessert which was average.

my wife did have the lychee martini with popping candy which she really enjoyed. the general look of the restaurant was very modern and cool and i suspect has a nice atmosphere for dinner service. thestaffwere courteous and attentive and food was served promptly.

all in all it was a pass but i must admit my expectations were a little higher based on past reviews. definitely worth a look but maybe a once in a lifetime experience.

we come here everytime we stop by canberra. it may be on the expensive side, but the food and the vibe do pay up for it. you will be greeted by lovelystaffand they will very happily fit you in if you haven’t booked (though it is recommended!) inside is quite loud, but outside is perfect! our food came quickly and it was lovely. they also walk around with food (chefs specials etc) which enticed us to buy more :) the bao was fresh and steamed well. all our food impressed us! the only downside is that you have to pay for sparkling water which we were not informed of! didn’t get too many photos due to happily eating :)

this restaurant has really great reviews, so we decided to come for dinner tonight and even at an early time of 5.30pm the restaurant was buzzing and had a great atmosphere.

service fromstaffwere friendly and very accommodating when we needed to change the dishes slightly so it wasn’t too spicy for my son.

we started off with the tuna tartare which was a great way to start and then my son loved their corn pancakes that came in 4 small pieces. this was made not spicy for us and he wanted another order after he had the barramundi with rice and chinese broccoli. we also tried their roast duck with sichuan and orange. this wasn’t the best duck we have tried and it is a generous serve.

food is slightly overpriced but the quality is there, while i’m glad i got to try it, i won’t be rushing back when i visit canberra next.

one of the best pieces of beef i have ever consumed - cooked to perfection, seasoned perfectly and super efficient service
as to be expected at a great restaurant there was a small wait , but great communication from the waitstaffin dealing with this
great variety so don’t be afraid to take picky eaters here - should be enough on the menu to keep them quiet

asian fusion restaurant with cool decor.staffare friendly and energetic, but some of them are carelessness. all dishes i ordered were yummy, especially kingfish carpaccia and potato salad with octopus were great. portion is small, so you will be able to try variety of dishes.

went to akiba for dinner and opted for the $49 feed-me options.staffwere great and changes to the courses catered to the table's dietary requirements. 

we definitely got some tasty asian fusion however no memorable dishes to mention.

great vibe, loved sitting at the bar enjoying the 'just feed me' meal. the food came fast and fabulous and was more than we could complete. friendly funstaffthat were always aware of our needs. a great find.
