i was really happy with the portion . i had ordered a regularbiriyani, and the taste was good, packing was pretty normal not like the usual abids package. taste was extraordinary , only down side is those chicken pieces came with it , they should add some more pieces as they do for mutton briyani. the side was very less in quantity , as you can see from the photo , theru were like 2 little boxes , nit enough for the whole briyani .. you should give us medium size portion. sweet was not given with the briyani, i don't know why , maybe due to lockdown ..

over all the briyani was amazing, taste was pretty good for a kacchi style briyani, chicken was so tendar and soft. quantity was good for a regular briyani.

every year i am eager for ramadan to start, because it is one of the best time to explore and feast on food that is close to the heart of muslims. every year, since i was 13 years old i've been buying iftar boxes. i've been a zaitoon loyalist until last year, when the lockdown was put up, forcing me to switch to abid's, and oh boy that was a wonderful decision. abid's is by far the best iftar box in chennai. priced at 490, they give 2 servings of nombu kanji, 2 servings of haleem, 1 serving of chicken biryani, 2 servings of bread halva, mutton samosas, spring roll, grape juice and dates. despite the lack in variety that their competitors offer, they surely make up for it in quality. the samosas and spring rolls are crisp, filled with meat and a very flavour rich masala. the nombu kanji is definitely very hearty. rich, wholesome, a bit of heat from the spices and small bits of meat make it a complete dish. the haleem is by far the best. fatty, meaty, smoky and filling, a squeeze of lime on top gives it an extra zing that cuts through your palate, giving your senses an nice surprise. thebiriyaniis definitely of a top quality. good meat to rice ratio. the chicken was soft, well marinated and the rice was well done, masala was slightly spicy, and has all the elements of a good chicken biryani. the bread halwa was also great! the sweetness from the khoa, the richness of the ghee, the difference in textures between the softness of the soaked bits and the crunchy parts of the fried bread plays with your senses.
definitely a complete meal. what other restaurants show in terms of variety of dishes, abid's simply blows it out of the park in terms of quality of food and quantity as well. well worth the 490.

went to abid's for the first time on 23 jan 2021 for dinner. restaurant staff offered us a seat on the first floor, since my wife was pregnant i requested a seat on the ground floor. although they had reservations they immediately obliged. very warm service staff.

the menu is extensive. since we were hungry we ordered a lot impulsively.
mutton shorba was rich thick and creamy
haleem was authentic, rich and superb. a word of caution: it is super filling.
mughlai paratha is a must try. the egg and chicken stuffing was generous. taste was too good. the mint chutney accompaniment is very refreshing.
orderedbiriyaniregular portion. it was generous portion too.
ordered tandoori prawns. we were quite surprised that the restaurant owner abid himself was serving guests. he served us the starters. he told us that he feels bad about the size of tandoori prawns and told us he wouldn't charge us for the same. he didn't charge us in the end. such a humble person. gentleman. to be fair many other restaurants serve similar fare and are not bothered at all.

last but not least, the shawarma was out of this world.. perfect creaminess, right amt of veggies , not dry at all.

their grape drink is very good.
all in all a fantastic experience. will visit again.

this place is a hit or miss!
their muttonbiriyaniis good, has that rich hyderabadi taste. not tamil muslim style biriyani. it tastes really good though. i had the mexican shawarma recently, which was small in size. but it packed some serious heat. recommend if you like spicy shawarma.

abid's has one of the most idiotic, incompetent, useless, persons at their desks to answer phone calls, when asked about their quantity of food forbiriyanifor 5 people and two kids, he told me that a family portion would suffice. unfortunately the portion was only sufficient for 3 people and a kid. coming to the quality of food that was ordered, chicken dumbiriyaniand tangri kebab, the chicken dumbiriyaniwas bland and dry, it tasted like something made in the morning, reheated and served at night, the meat was terribly dry making it hard to even chew. tangri kebab was burnt to a crisp on one side and undercooked on the other, many had told me that abid's is one of the best for their biriyanis and kebabs but sadly their food and service doesn't live to the hype.

my college canteen had better tasting biriyanis back in the days.

looking forward to never ordering from you again.

so far this place just beat all my fav biriyanis in town. sucha lovely hydbiriyaniit was with well-cooked mutton chunks and authentic aroma being the highlights. the masala got nicely blended with the rice and mutton pieces which brings out the amazing flavor in it. not to specially mention about the chicken tikka kebab. the staff was really warm and welcoming and it was not a very high priced place. coming back again for their biriyani. the place was decently lit and made family-friendly. good job guys. cheers!!

the experience was bad this time.. the starters and the flavour of thebiriyaniwas not up the abid’s bench.. adding on to the bitter experience was the dessert .. we ordered falooda and we received it in a paper cup, like who serves falooda in a paper cup 😰.. the guys at the billing screwed things up as well .. overall, very dissapointed!

what : pepper barbeque chicken, hyderabadi mutton biriyani, ande ka meetha

how much : pepper barbeque chicken (inr 220), hyderabadi muttonbiriyani(inr 250), ande ka meetha (inr 100)

having passed this place quite a number of times, was tempted by their big posters outside their restaurant regarding their biriyani’s to be one of the world’s best. hence my friend and i decided to visit this place for dinner on a sunday. it is situated in spurtank road in chetpet just before grand sweets. there is parking outside the restaurant for about 06 cars. the restaurant is spread into two floors, the ground and first floor. we opted for the first floor. the ambience was just like any other arabian hotel. the staff were courteous and gave the menu as soon as we were seated. it was a widespread menu and we opted for half a portion of #pepperbarbequechicken and their claim to fame #hyderabadidumbiriyani. the pepper barbeque chicken arrived first and was satisfied by just looking at the texture of the chicken. it was well done, juicy and soft. the pieces were very tender and delicious. thebiriyaniarrived a few minutes later. i am not actually a fan of the dum biriyani’s and would prefer the south indian varieties like ambur and dindukal biriyani’s more. but after the waiter mixed and served the dum biriyani, i was blown away by the taste and smell of it. the mutton pieces in it were so soft and even my friend agreed to the same. it was by far the best dumbiriyaniwe’d ever had. i am not sure if it is the world’s best yet. but it is sure one of the best in chennai. we finished off the dinner with shahi phirni dessert which was the typical bread and milk based one and it was delicious and juicy as well. prices are reasonable considering the quality and quantity if food they offer. overall a place to visit for dum biriyani’s and barbeque varieties.
