if you likebakeryand baked goods, 85°c might be a godsend. great concept - you pickup a tray and the tongues as you enter, and then you walk around picking up just made tarts, mini baguettes, turnovers, danishes and whatever else your heart desires - note that it is very hard to contain yourself, so you end up picking up a lot more than you can eat. but - the prices are astonishing, and for the full tray of stuff i paid less than $15 - i guarantee $30+ in new york for the same. as a bonus, everything was absolutely delicious :)

the only gripe is finding the parking - this shopping plaza is super busy - expect to make a few circles looking for parking, so your best bet might be coming there with a friend and one of you getting al the shopping done. but - definitely worth the trouble.

highly recommended.

worth it!!. definitely, not your typicalbakeryif you're an experienced "bakery dessert eater" ^.^ it is soooo good! if you have ever tried the egg tarts in other asian bakeries and thought it was good, wait till you try their version! the crust itself is just so crisp and flavorful, where as the other bakeries make the crust tasteless and just like a boring pie crust. their marble taro bread is just sooo fluffy, warm, rich, and perfect! you just need to try a bit of everything to know what you like. their mango passion smoothie's pretty good too! i hope you do yourself a favor and go visit this bakery. enjoy!!!!!

red and blue alert!. once in a long moon, it seems, you come across a place that is so wildly successful, that you know without a trace of a doubt is going to be good. 85 degreesbakerycafe is definitely one of those places. if you happen to be in the orange county area, then there is no excuse to venture into this busy bakery. for those who love drinking tea, coffee, etc., thisbakeryhas the selection of pastry, breads, cakes and all in between.
do not be concerned for the lines. i am willing to bet after watching the display of power today, that there always will be a line, that is how brilliantly successful this concept is. i understand that the first of its kind was started in taiwan. well, this one in irvine is the type that draws crowds and more crowds.
we had just finished a mediocre meal in another part of town, and feeling let down and a little upset, i remembered reading about how popular 85 degrees cafe is, and goggled the address, set the gps and in no time i was in a large plaza, where most of the people seem to be oriental. this is a very clean cut area, in a very expensive part of town, so the shops all looked brand new. when we saw the bakery, a line of about 25 people was outside, and inside there were so many they had to stop the line from entering! busy busy bees! once inside you pick up a tray and a tool to lift the goodies into the tray, and you commence the journey of discovery. we ended with about two dozen different creations, the most expensive among the pastries, around $2.50. standing room only, we decided to drive out of there and try everything with a home brewed cup of coffee. did not get to the displays were the delicious cakes (or at least they looked delicious, that is for sure!), but we figure being a saturday and our first time, it was going to have to do. i think the era of donuts is passé, for these pastries were all very fresh-they are constantly replenishing their supplies-and some were downright interesting.
this is one place i would recommend to anyone, just to pick the most appealing creations and hopefully enjoy them in various settings. picnic, watching a movie, with friends at a party, at a hotel room, etc. i was impressed, and it is been a long time i felt this way about a place. filled with people, incredible energy, superior bakers, it sure cheer up our day. next time i shall scope the section where the cakes are, individual slices and whole ones. they did look marvelous (like billy crystal use to say: you look marvelous, darling!). this is a red and blue alert, which is heightened type of alert, well worth pursuing. i easily give it 4.5 stars at this moment, if only for the mad business they generate. like all good things, it might take a little longer than usual, but i saw people walking out with dozens of goodies like if there was no tomorrow. in this case so many people can not be wrong, they are in the right line and i was too. 4.5 stars!

it's about time that i posted about 85cbakerybecause i try to go here whenever i'm in irvine. however, i suppose i won't do a line item review of each of their baked goods because they have so many (and i eat them all). i'll just post up the pictures i took of some savory breads and their black forest cake (very light, just fair). i must say that they have very good breads that aren't overdone in terms of sweetness or doughiness. of course it takes some getting used to when you walk right in because you see a long line of people waiting but the process is fairly simple. you grab tongs, a tray, and put whatever you want on your tray; pay after you choose. i especially like their whole wheat mushroom bread and their milk bread. as for drinks, they've got a good selection but i can't help but choose my default every time: sea salt jasmine green tea. that's probably th

hearing much rave about 85cbakerycafe in irvine, i had to check it out. i have been to my share of asian bakeries, and they are all pretty much the same. besides the degree of quality these bakeries have amongst each other, they all work the same way. you get a tray, pick out the breads and pastries you like, and that is it. 85cbakeryhas so much rave, but its probably like any other bakery, so i thought. skeptical, i was quickly reassured of its greatness by the long lines. when i say "long lines", i mean people are outside the door, waiting in the cold. not wanting to stand in the cold night and cautious about getting sick, we weighed out the pros and cons in the car. after a long and great thought process, and almost turning to go back home, we decided to eat dinner in hopes of a smaller line afterwards. lucky for us, our plan worked! waiting in a considerably shorter line, we were eager to see what the fuss was about. finally entering thebakeryand grabbing our trays, peace and

the company got its name because 85° c is the perfect drinking temperature to enjoy a cup of coffee. 85° c is largest coffee franchise in taiwan, with nearly 300 stores. however, there's only one 85° cbakerycafe in north america and it's located at the diamond jamboree shopping center in irvine, california. the first 85° cbakerycafe opened in bao-ping, ta

better in taiwan, good in cali. the highly anticipatedbakeryhas finally come to america! and while extremely successful, the lines and the crowded space totally takes away its once-breathtaking atmosphere and the peaceful ambiance it retains in taiwan. the cakes are unchallenged in their mastery and artistry, but the breads do become plain after a few visits. still love the drinks, though, even though they should develop starbucks' system of making and giving the drinks. it's almost impossible to know whether or not your drink has been made in the midst of 109348 other people waiting impatiently for their own complicated concoctions. my cup of mountain green tea was worth the long wait, but it must've gone through 10 people's anxious hands before it got to me.
