21 steps: kitchen and bar

since sophie was with us, most of ourwhistlerget-a-way dining options were limited to outdoor/patio options. for one dinner, however, we decided to grab some takeout from 21 steps kitchen and bar. as you can guess from the name, the restaurant has a second floor location that overlooks the village. we started out with a kale salad ($9.50) which included shredded kale, beets, pink grapefruit, carrots, and toasted pumpkin seeds in a grapefruit citrus vinaigrette. the salad was okay – i especially liked the dressing. but it was a bit difficult picking up the shredded kale (and honestly, there’s just so much kale a person can eat).

fantastic!. it was our last night inwhistlerand we weren't sure where to go, so we decided to take a trip up the stairs. what an incredible night! every bite was heaven, and the service was amazing!

appetizers and wine only. we got here early enough that the place wasn't packed. service was great and our waitress was very friendly and professional. the place filled up quickly so i could see how some may get bad service. it went from empty to full in about 15 minutes thankfully right as we were leaving. they might want to work on spacing out their reservations bit. food was the best we've had inwhistlerso far other than tandori grill. unfortunately, the food in whisler has been very underwhelming :/. we only had appetizers and wine but will try and come back for an actual meal before we leave.

great save!. well after going towhistlerfor a last minute get away for our anniversary we tried to find somewhere to go for dinner. we tried the alta bistro and were treated so poorly we left. without a reservation we were like where should we go. my wife remembered hearing good things about this restaurant so we went up the 21 steps and asked if they had a table. some friends of ours were there so that was a good sign! we sat at a table near the window. the server was quick, fun and helpful. she made a few suggestions after we answered some questions, recommended a reasonable wine and we put our order in. everything came out quickly, was fabulously flavoured and we felt we had great value. thanks so much for saving our evening and making it one we will remember! the server wished us happy anniversary as did the hostess on the way out. great job!

great prices (in comparison to everything else inwhistlervillage.) fantastic food. reservations accepted.

best way to enjoy a new-to-you-restaurant? don't even think about what the restaurant may bring you. jt and i were walking aroundwhistlervillage looking for a place to eat and we found this cute place with two floors that didn't even seem that exciting. the decor was nice, admittedly, but it looked like standard fare. what a cute hidden gem we found in 21 steps kitchen & bar . we ordered a fixed price ($35) menu which was fantastic value for our dollar. my starter was garlic chili prawns ($11), which were absolutely delicious and very well served. my advice, though - don't eat garlic chili prawns if you are planning to have a full meal. while extremely flavourful and strategically including nuts and other spices to mellow the chili down, i was full by the time my "small plate" was done. my "large plate" was moroccan spiced chicken ($23), which normally would be delicious to me. but with the overpowering (and tasty) flavour of the garlic and chili of my starter, i almost felt my moroc

good all around. our first dinner inwhistlerwas a hit, we got lucky as they closed for the games the next day. i had the ribs that were tender and cooked just right and girl had the stirfry and she loved it. the staff were cool and the dessert was amazing, i found the prices in chek, not over priced with value.
