horrible restaurant never go here. this staff was rude, the food took forever, when i finally showed it was less than average. the b*** waitress rudely accused of trying to leave without paying when there was cash on the table. we left a $160 nfl jersey for just a couple minutes and the staff stole it, reported it to the manager and he pretty much didn't care. i hate this place, i hate the food, and most of all i hate lying thieving rude people that work there. screw this place i'll never go back

13 coins can handle a crowded holiday like christmas just as well as a quite midweek night after a long flight. we always love the decor and dignified and professional waiters who really know the menu and add alot to the dining experience. bar seating is unparalleled for comfort. steamed clams is one of the more unique preparations you will find in seattle with its pesto broth. steamed artichoke appitizer was fun. normally we only have them at home. steak cut of liver in the liver and onions entree was huge and hearty. club sandwich was perfectly stacked and toasted. watching a bald eagle being chased around above the parking lot by crows and seagulls was cool too.

overall, 13 coins is a bit of an odd place, but between the funky time-capsule nature of the decor and the distinct improvement in both food and ambiance over the airport, and 13 coins is worth a try if you’ve got a long layover or delay at sea.

my layover at sea was long enough for me to call some friends up for a bite to eat and they took me to 13 coins. i loved it from the decor to the menu! it is a tad pricy, but i would highly recommend it for a romantic/special occasion dinner or business lunch/drinks. it's so good, the gal i was seated next to on my following flight had not only heard of 13 coins but frequented their other location.

overpriced breakfast for poor food. why all the good reviews ? must have been written by the waiters. wouldn't eat here again even if it was free.

enjoyable. the decor is throwback and dimly lit, but my four coworkers and i all enjoyed our meals. i had the cioppino special and it hit the spot.

it was o.k.. i voted "liked it", but it's not an enthusiastic "like". being from the midwest, i was not used to west coast prices. a group of 5 or 6 of us went in and no one made it out for less than $30 and no one really ordered a lot of food. a small bowl of french onion soup went for $8. i ordered the homemade stack of fries and it was really good. the joe's egg scramble i ordered was o.k., but nothing to write home about. i probably would choose something else. the chicken parmesan my cohorts ordered looked very good. the waiter was soft-spoken and polite, but not the most attentive. we had heard about the entertaining chef's. the only seating available at the time was in the lounge, so we missed out. i gotta believe there's better options out there, but it's convenient to the hotels near seatac.

stopped by for lunch and ordered a b.a.t. (bacon, avocado and turkey). it came with a bow tie pasta salad and was very tasty. will be heading back to to try it out for dinner.

always happy with the food.. a recent visit to the seattle area had my wife and i staying at hotel in the seatac area to attend a professional organization banquet/fundraiser. as is typical with these events, the food at the banquet is less than spectacular and afterwards everyone decides they want a nightcap. after the nightcap we all discover that we are hungry and are left eating at denny's or some other typical 24-hour place.

however this time was different. after the nightcap my wife and i bid goodbye to our friends and headed back to the hotel. just before arriving at the hotel we agreed that we were hungry and right there was 13 coins. prior to this moment i had no clue that 13 coins was a 24-hour establishment. it had been over 10 years since my last visit, associated with a number of summer commuter flights from the east side of the state and i never ate there much later than about 8pm, so i didn't recall the 24 hour factor, but i digress.

i've always been amazed that the 13 coins locations is located on the ground floor of an office building, right next to a credit union for employees of alaska airlines/horizon air. we were seated promptly upon entering, being offered a seat at the counter, where you can watch all of the action of the chefs, or one of the tables. i usually opt for the counter, however this time of night i just wanted a little peace and quite with my wife, so we opted for a booth.

booths have very high walls and are rather private. the whole vibe in the place is that of a classy 70s diner; lots of dark wood, dark leather and vinyl and these very odd lamps hanging over the booth tables. makes you feel like the rat pack will arrive shortly after their show.

our waiter was very attentive, however food service seemed a bit slow. we received our beverages quickly along with 13 coins rather unique garnish plate and loaf of bread and butter.

i give our waiter credit for keeping our beverages filled while we waited for our food. once our selections arrived they were excellent. my wife had chicken soup (she really likes soup), and frankly it looked spectacular and smelled even better. i had the biscuits and gravy with hash browns from the breakfast side of the menu. it was so late at night that i didn't really want dinner. anyone who knows me is aware that i generally am a sucker for biscuits and gravy and am always comparing them from restaurant to restaurant.

i was suitably impressed with the biscuits and gravy. the biscuits seemed homemade and had just the right amount of flavor and resistance when you cut with the side of a fork. the gravy had nice chunks of bacon in it. i think this is probably the first time i've ever had country gravy with bacon in it vs. seasoned pork sausage. absolutely wonderful and something i'm going to try at home in my own kitchen. their preparation of the hash browns was interesting…in a good way. the kitchen staff placed a large hunk of potatoes on the grill and let them sit in one place and get brown. then took that whole, oblong, chunk and flipped it over and allowed the second side to cook until nicely and crispy brown. the insides were hot, steamy, but not crunchy, and the outside was. possibly the best plate of restaurant hash browns i've ever had.
leaving 13 coins and going back to the hotel to crash, i knew i would return on my next visit to the seattle area.

13 coins is not experimental food, or even fancy food. it is honest food, well prepared and provided in sufficient quantity with fine dining service that justifies the price.

i went in for happy hour in the lounge. the bartender (older fellow) appeared unhappy from the first sight. he served me a beer promptly - but i sat there for 15 mins. he walked by several times & never looked at me even when my beer was empty. i wanted food. so i said screw it and threw my 20 up there. i had to flag him down & tell him i wanted to settle. they weren't even that busy. another guy a couple chairs over commented to him " you don't look happy". he said, " i'm always happy", dryly. i never even wanted to try their food after that. went down the road to spencers' - even though i knew i'd pay more.

a real dissapointment. not a recommendation for a big group. i went with 11 others on 11/13/10 and had one of the worse meals i've ever eaten. actually, the entire experience was unimpressive and disappointing. half of us ordered the prime rib; the night's "special" and the entire plate (including veggies and potatoes) were stone cold. the person who had the best meal was the one whose order they originally forgot and made it to order. btw-the hostess had zero personality and could use a class in service or be moved to the kitchen. we reserved a private room about a week before and it didn't seem like they were ready for us. we were made to stand in the entry until the entire party arrived.
