i had a spiritual experience here.. this is the most amazing cafe ever. my food tasted like the manna of the gods. i could eat here every meal for the rest of my life. even the water tasted like it was purified in heaven. i'm not sure what zumbro is supposed to mean - but in my dictionary, it means deee- freaking- liteful!!

the most flavorful natural honest to goodness food i've had in a while. fresh, flavorful, still thinking of it. this is my go to breakfast spot. really a treat!

...from first glance the menu seems regular: eggs benedict, eggs, belgian waffles, oatmeal, and so on. however, the way each meal is cooked stands out from a typical american diner brunch. for example the eggs benedict rather than being made on an english muffin, contains a slice of baguette; rather than hollandaise sauce smothering a pouched egg, the egg is dominant and the sauce serves it; rather than just a brute piece of meat, it contains grilled asparagus to make the dish healthier...

i like small family-owned joints and i love this one. breakfasts - especially various eggs bennies - are always a slam dunk. this time i did a black bean burger. came with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a zesty sour cream salsa on ciabatta. would definitely get again! although that roasted tomato, goat cheese with caramelized onion & fresh basil pesto sandwich is calling my name!

consistently good food. can be busy and some tables by the door are not so comfortable during the winter. but overall a great neighborhood place for breakfast or lunch.

we had a delicious lunch. roasted tomato with carmalized onions sandwich, squash soup, ahi tuna, all great! clean, simple decor; very pleasant staff.

happy tummy!!. sad i only had one breakfast in minneapolis to have at zumbro! great breakfast, great neighbourhood!!

i feel very fortunate to have found zumbro on my short visit to mn. i would go back to mn with zumbro (and a couple of others) being a a huge part of that trip... forget the shopping... dining in minneapolis just became the star attraction!!

service vs. food. the food is tasty and fresh. the service is questionable. that lady isn't the only crabby one. dealt with the daytime manager on more than one occasion and he has issues. unfortunate because it tarnishes this great neighborhood spot. hopefully the mood will improve as i'd go back for the good grub!

great breakfast/brunch food. this is a very nice but small cafe that i will definitely return to.

i love to try new breakfast/brunch places in the twin cities. zumbro cafe is high on my list after one visit.

i am a fan of the eggs benedict at zumbro cafe!! honestly the best that i have had. the striatta bread that it is served on is perfect. we also had the mushroom, spinach and goat cheese fritata. that was good but without the goat cheese, it would have been pretty tasteless. i had to make sure i got some goat cheese in every bite. the potatoes served with the dishes are perfectly prepared and seasoned.the coffee was great and the side of fruit that we ordered was fresh and beautiful.

the server was very friendly and welcoming.

bad start. heard about zumbro from my daughter, so we drove over from st. paul on sunday for breakfast only to find out they were closed for the labor day weekend. that would have been good info for the web site. we might give it a try some other time.

your odds are pretty good.. zumbro cafe food: awesome

zumbro cafe service: you've got the one middle-aged crabby lady who makes you feel like you're imposing on her for eating at the restaurant - and then you've got everybody else.

seriously, the host remembers us when we come in, the staff is kind and attentive, they've got little boxes of toys for the kids, and the manager once chased me down the street - around the corner and a block away - to give me my phone, which i had left on the table. but that one lady puts me in a seriously bad mood.

this is supposed to be a good review - i love this place - so roll the dice, odds are you'll get put in somebody else's section and you'll enjoy a perfect breakfast. and if not, what the hell, the food rocks.

our favorite. when we head to minneapolis, it's hard to distinquish if we are really traveling to minneapolis or the zumbro cafe! the whole family gets excited to go their for breakfast but my favorite is their buckwheat and wildrice pancakes! their whole menu will make your heart smile and your stomach sing. the atmosphere is simple and unpretentious and you'll be glad you checked it out. (after breakfast, wonder next door to the linden hills co-op for exceptional whole foods)
